Help, Can i do it?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently in my first term of the BS in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance (BSCSIA) program. My term started in July and ends in December. Currently, I haven't completed any of my courses yet and I'm starting to get pretty stressed about the time crunch.

Here is my current course load:
D685
D333
D420
D316
D317
I have a mix of PAs and OAs in there, and two of these are certification courses.

I have a few questions and would love to hear your opinions or experiences:
1. Is it realistic to finish all 5 of these by the end of December? We have about two and a half months left. Has anyone knocked out a similar schedule in this timeframe?
2. What should my strategy be right now? Which of these should I tackle first to get some momentum going?

What would you do in my situation? Any advice, study strategies, or harsh truths are welcome. Thank you in advance!

Cheapest way to knock out gen eds before an IT degree? Mostly scared of paying for credits that won’t count

My daughter is planning to start WGU’s IT degree in January 2027, and since tuition is around $4,125 for a six-month term, we’re trying to get as many gen eds done cheaply beforehand as we can.

I’ve been looking at community college, CLEP, and Study.com, and honestly, every answer I find says something different about which one actually ends up being cheapest once you add up classes, subscriptions, and exam fees.

The part I’m most worried about is transfer credits. I don’t want to pay for English Comp or College Algebra and then find out WGU won’t accept it, or it transfers as some random elective that doesn’t actually count toward her degree.

If you’ve done this, which way did you go and did the credits actually land where they needed to? And how’d you check before paying for anything?

Information Technology 37% completed BSSWEE to MSSWE

So I have a question, what’s the minimum number of CU needed to not be in the SAP. Because I have 75 credits left. This is my first term, I’ve only completed 1 course will be 2 soon with only 6 weeks remaining. Completed D197. On D277. Remaining D372, D280, D278. I’ve haven’t been able to complete as much due to my adhd. I’ve been applying myself more and started my adhd medication again because previously I lost insurance and couldn’t afford to pay out of pocket for my meds. I feel more capable in my abilities now that I have the assistance I needed. I never felt as if I couldn’t do it but applying myself felt much harder.. I want to grind hard now.. not like I didn’t want to before but you get it. Is it possible to have 4 courses done within the 6 weeks remaining? This is no sob story, this is someone wanting to pick up the slack and work 2x harder to finish the goals I set out for myself. Any advice I’m thankful for.

Information Technology Does scheduling appointments in the WGU app not work?

Seems like everytime I try to schedule a instructor appointment in the WGU mobile app it never seems to grt a confirm email from it. Stuff like this seems kind of absurd for an online college not to have together.

Having to log onto your computer/laptop to schedule an instructor appointment in 2026 should not be a thing.

Is this the same for anyone else?

Threw up during test

I was already feeling sick but I thought I could pull thru. I started the test and going thru all the checks and stripping down and camera placement n shit.

Finally I start the test and suddenly I got super sick. My mouth made that loud puke noise without the puke. The proctor was so mad.

"Hey what you doing!!"

Then another one and he goes "why you doing that??"

Finally I threw up all over the keyboard and my desk.

He went berserk

"You crazy person! Why you gonna be doing that???!"

"This behaviour is not being ok!"

Then he ended my test.

Do I have ground to file a report?

Degree in IT IS worth It(post grad experience)

Sometimes WGU gets a bad rep, but I wanted to share a positive perspective since graduating.
Once you finish, you become fully qualified and sometimes even overqualified for many entry/mid-level IT positions, largely because you walk away with both a degree and well-known industry certifications.

I was already working in desktop support while finishing up. Since graduating, I’ve seen a noticeable surge in recruiter activity, getting calls and emails multiple times a week regarding roles I've applied for (and new opportunities coming inbound). Before getting my current role and degree, landing interviews was a real struggle, so seeing this contrast has been huge.

One negative though is that A lot of these incoming offers/messages are for lower pay than I’m looking for at this stage in my career, but it’s still reassuring to actually get noticed and considered consistently.
Whether it’s having prior experience, the degree, the certs, or a combination of all three, getting the BS in IT at WGU was definitely worth it for me.

WGU to working Professional

Before graduating I began speaking to former and current IT/cyber professionals. What surprised you most about moving from classes to real-world job expectations? The most surprising thing about real world was the team work aspect. I was assisted by a professional cybersecurity business owner, who offers portfolio and resume assistance in his services as a creator of content. I took rejection a a part or the process and understood that it was apart of the process. Standing out to employer's is about showcasing your skills and talents; Ultimately, your a work in progress that they want to know will fit there environment /business. Certifications in cyber/IT will always be the key to getting hired. Look on Linkedin and Youtube for individuals doing what your doing and ask for advice.

I'm preparing to take the E010 Python . I been doing all the labs and PA. Are the 35 questions multiple choices or do I have to create or resolve code? If so how many of them or is that the whole exam? I'm trying to me mentally preparing myself.

Help! WGU BSCNE General vs. AWS specialization

Hey everyone! I’m currently in WGU’s BS Cloud and Network Engineering (general track) and debating whether switching to the AWS specialization is worth it.

I have about 5 years of experience in tech, including startups and Big Tech, mainly in QA, testing, and development. At the moment with general im coming in with 20 classes (71 CUs) left

For anyone who graduated from either track or works in the field:

Does the AWS specialization actually make a noticeable difference when applying for jobs?

How are employment opportunities looking for each track, especially in cloud, fintech, Big Tech, and defense contracting?

Is the AWS specialization worth it, or would I be better off finishing general and getting AWS certs on my own?

I’d appreciate any honest feedback, especially from people who have gone through the program or are hiring. Thanks!

Help! Term break beyond 5 months?

I'm about to end my 5 months of term break, which I spent recharging my brain, accelerating at work, getting married, etc.

I'm not quite ready to come back yet - I'm burned out from work and was also notified an immediate family member has a terminal illness with less than a year left. I would love to spend the holiday season not having to worry about classes - has anyone successfully petitioned to extend their term break due to special circumstances?

So what next?

I received my last Capstone evaluation back earlier this week. That’s it, I’m finished. But I’m not sure what happens next? My mentor and I have spoken on the phone exactly one time and that was at the very beginning of my program. She and I have never texted and the only time I’ve ever heard from her was when she would send me a generic congratulations a couple of days after I completed each course. I used to try to get a hold of her when I completed a class and needed the next one opened, but I could never reach her so I have used TIER 1 SUPPORT 95% of the time when I needed a new class to start.

After 48 hours of completing the program, I sent her an email and she replied with the standard congratulations. I then followed up reminding her that it was my final course and asking her what to do next. I saw that I missed a call from a WGU number, but I’m not sure if it was her. Since Tuesday I have now left three voicemails and two emails with no reply. I can see that she is available. Should I just reach out to TIER 1 SUPPORT again? I just need my darn degree so I can move on and apply to grad school.

Where should I go for my masters?

I got my bachelor's in Cybersecurity from WGU and am now looking at options for a masters program. I've been looking at WGU's Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning program as well as University of Texas at Austins Computer Science and AI programs. If anyone has experience with the previously mentioned, please help me decide on which one I should go with and why. (Or if I should just go for a different school) Thanks!
