I have been finding 3d models online to import into VotV, but the UE is picky about how things are imported for the printer.
Ive been doing conversions and UCX blocks by hand in blender for a while now and it's taking too much time.
With a little assistance from Gemini, I made an app to handle all of it for me.
You can:
import file types such as OBJs, fbx, gltf, STL, etc.
Choose a friendly name that applies across the obj, UCX, pngs, and output folder.
Adds a basic UCX block automatically. (Issues with pre-existing UCX, double UCX) (Also just a basic block, nothing fancy, stretches from top most to bottom most points on the model)
Join all objects into 1 solid automatically.
Scale against properly sized references (obj versions of in-game props, including the banana)
Reduce faces
Cap texture pngs to preset aspect ratios (512*512, 1024*1024, etc.) while ensuring PNG conversion. (Works on multiple pngs such as diffuse_, roughness_, metallic_, all at the same time) (Will convert jpeg and BMO types automatically)
Export all files with the proper naming scheme and folder structure.
I don't know much of how to script, but did somehow manage to get a functional GUI going in python and packaged into a portable exe in a zip. It does contain converted obj versions of in-game items/props for scaling purposes, and it does contain the portable version of blender 5.2.2.0 for headless background conversions.
It works best with single texture objects. Meaning objects with separate texture pngs for hair and arms, etc. won't work or will be otherwise texturless as votv doesn't care about mtls.
