General Discussion Hatsune Miku V6 is 19 now, and I wish more fan art and merchandise reflected her mature design like the one shown in Project DIVA. My thoughts on fans portraying her as a little girl when she is not a child.
As a longtime Hatsune Miku and Vocaloid fan, I wish more fan art and official merchandise reflected Miku's mature V6 design. She has already celebrated her 19th birthday, and I'd love to see more merchandise portraying her as the taller, older looking virtual singer rather than making her look like a little child.
One example I want to bring up is the Vocaloid song Mimukauwa Nice Try (みむかゥわナイストライ), which received criticism from some people for portraying Miku as a 10-year-old girl. I think it's hypocritical to criticize a song for depicting Miku as a little girl while supporting similar portrayals in fan art and official merchandise.
You can find Miku merchandise at malls and stores like the Round 1 Arcade, Spencer's, Box Lunch, and Hot Topic and other stores and online shopping as well. I'd love to see more products celebrate her mature V6 design instead of portraying her as a five- or ten year old child.
To be clear, I love cute chibi designs and chibi looking Miku plushies, action figures, keychains and other stuff, because they're adorable! Designs like Mikudayo show that Miku can be cute without being portrayed as a little girl. My concern is with people portraying Miku as a 10 year old child for sexual gratification, not with mature or sexualized artwork of her older looking design.
One reason I especially appreciate Hatsune Miku's V6 design is that she looks taller and more mature, and older in age while retaining her iconic turquoise teal blue twin tails and recognizable style that pays a lot of homage to her first original official design while still keeping the new look iconic and futuristic. Like the futuristic Pop Star Diva Vocaloid she is. I'd love to see more artists and merchandise creators embrace this design.
Miku has an incredible musical legacy, and there are so many ways to celebrate her character. If people criticize the Vocaloid song Mimukauwa Nice Try for portraying Miku as a little girl, shouldn't they apply the same standards to similar fan art and official merchandise that portray her as a five year old to 10 year old little girl? I believe we should be consistent rather than condemn one portrayal while supporting others.
That's just some of my thoughts on the matter. I hope everyone can understand where I'm coming from. Thank you all for hearing me out. And have a nice day / night my fellow Vocaloid fans. I appreciate you all hearing me out on this.
