Effective immediately, finder posts no longer permitted

With online retail becoming as big as it has there is no longer any need for these sorts of inquiries on Reddit. As of now there are thousands of secondhand garment businesses across the world online and offline. A simple Google search provides dozens of results on the first page.

These threads have never generated any meaningful discussion, and in recent years most of them have been sitting at 0 karma with no comments every time they pop up.

As of now requests for retailer recommendations will be removed at the moderator's discretion. The updated sub rules reflect this.

Posting guidelines concerning product year of release. Or what constitutes as Vintage.

Far too many threads are having to be removed because OP's content isn't vintage or they're unable to say whether or not it is at least 20 years old. I'm editing the rules to reflect more specific posting guidelines. From now on you must include at minimum an educated guess on your garment's release year. The approximate production date should be in the title or description of your thread. Any threads that do not meet this new criteria as of now will be removed at the moderators' discretion.

Grandma's dress - can anyone help me figure out the year it was either made or when the style was popular?

My grams had a bin with some old clothes in it and I am trying to figure out how old they might be. There were two shirts that to me were obviously 60s-70s and a very 80s jumpsuit but this dress I am unsure about.

Any ideas are welcome!

Long time collector and out of the hundreds of vintage military jackets I’ve come across these are the ones I’ve kept for myself instead of selling. Just in the line up I’ve shown the era of these jackets’ range from WW2 - 1990’s. What do yall think?

Do you like wool garments?

• Upvotes

Hey,

I avoided wool for many years due to the misconception and lack of knowledge on how to wash wool (felted some wool garments).

Now, I actively look for wool or heavy wool blends and I love them so much!

Anything that's itchy I'll soak in Eucalan and it makes it lovely and soft. I'll also use Eucalan once in awhile to re lanolise my woolies.

In the UK we have a mild wool aproved liquid called stergene and it's very gentle on skin and easy to handwash with.

I've got many old wool jumpers, wool coat from the 60s or 70s and enough dead stock wool socks from the 80s to last a life time!

How would you clean/wash this coat?

Hello, I recently acquired this WW2 British Kapok Tropal coat from 1941 but it’s quite crusty and difficult to display as a result. I just wondered if there were any tips on how to go about cleaning/washing this coat. It’s made out of a thick cotton canvas with a wool collar and kapok quilted lining. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Searching for an original catalogue photo of this top

This was my favourite piece of clothing as a kid, and I'm doing a painting of it as part of a series of paintings from my childhood. Trouble is I can't clearly make out the print to reproduce it. I'm pretty sure Mum got it at Target, Australia (probably at Chadstone Shopping Centre, and it would've been about 1978. If someone can point me to an original catalogue picture or just a clear picture I'd really appreciate it.

Advice Pls

My Mom recently gave me a lot of clothing that used to belong to my grandmother. I am getting married soon and she hoped that I would be able to sell some or most of whatever my fiance didn’t want to help pay for the wedding. It’s about 25/30 pieces of Issey Miyake, mostly 80s/90s vintage. I have no clue where to start with selling, and although they all have number codes, most of them don’t show up online, and the ones that do are way more valuable than any clothing i’ve ever worn for sure lol.

Any advice would be appreciated!

1998 Helmut Lang Jacket

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi everyone, Idk if this is the right place but I was hoping someone could help me figure out the value of a Helmut Lang parka that i’ve found.
The photo is a reference image of the same model (it's not mine), but I can post my own photos of the tags and details if needed.
some details: condition 8/10, it’s missing the hood(it’s detachable)
Roughly what is it worth in this condition? i’ve see someone sold it for $3500 USD in a good condition
