Edit: I know Chain Reaction gives THP from Second Wind, I just don't know how to quantify it.
Does anyone know how much THP Unchained's Chain Reaction gives when used with Second Wind? I imagine the stagger scales with distance from explosion so it's hard to get proper numbers - so alternatively - is it a good pairing of talents when using coruscation staff to set hordes on fire, or with flame sword/dagger/flaming flail?
Also should I be using a different staff on unchained? I like the coruscation staff for helping to clear hordes, but it's probably pretty pointless with how much melee damage Unchained has anyway.
Also, does anyone have a link to a guide or anything that can help decide which THP talent is generally best on which weapons? I'm struggling to work it out for myself on some of them.

Personally, I'd be on board with it as long as it continued the story of the Ubersreik 5.

Shade is by far my favourite class, and I recently got the Purified skin for her. I find that it looks really good, as I love the colour contrast of a white outfit compared to her normally dark colour scheme; however, almost all of her headgear options have either a dark purple or black cloth colour, which ruins the look. So far I've stuck to either the Filthy Rag or the shark head to minimize this issues, but i really wish there were more good options. Maybe some of her DLC head gears looks better, but based on the pictures I really doubt it. This makes me kinda worried about some other characters Purity skins, but I feel like this is definitely the worst on Shade. Are there any head gears that I'm missing that look good?

Just some info from Mr cheese that is most likely still viable and will help with completing this event. I generally play legend / Cata for reference. Last night hosted quick play legend event games and the teams were wiped in under 2 min. Multiple times. When I suggested we drop to champion to clear because the hordes are supercharged people took it personally and then , they got wiped again. So fyi for this event : leave your ego at the door as you may have to drop down a level to clear. It appears most of the player base has no clue the hordes are buffed once the team picks up the skull. See you all out there

Though Im grateful for every update, event or patch we get to this game, this years Geheimnisnachts frame doesn’t feel finished and its low quality like cheap plastic. Every year Halloween event had great frames but not this time imo. I understand that devs focuse more on Darktide, but making solid frames to collect would be awesome.
Event itself and weapon cosmetics are fine, skull rituals are great and challenging.
Happy skull collecting:)

So the goto strategy appears to be for one person to rush, one person to stay by the entrance wall fighting for his live and 2 ppl to sorta waddle into the middle, get surrounded and die.
I usually just force this to work on having too many hours so I just stay with the other best player in the mission and either we rush and revive or stay, revive, rush and revive and it's fine.
I am not good enough for this to work on Geheimnisnacht. What can I do to keep more people alive?

After seeing mention of the theory of Lohner being Morgan Bernhardt in one of my posts, I thought I'd try my hand at critiquing the theory.
It's a fun theory, but the problem is that it doesn't address the contradictory details and at times falls into the trap of confirmation bias wherein it seems to work backwards from its conclusion. Also, people who are unfamiliar with the lore of the Grudgebringers and the expanded lore of Vermintide seem to have taken it as fact.
In the process of making this post, I found that the original theory apparently got removed by reddit's automated moderation system. Thankfully, the Wayback Machine exists, and it has an archive of the post, which I have linked in this post.
I'll be addressing the points as they're ordered in the original post, but before that, it's important to give a general context of the Grudgebringers and Morgan Bernhardt's backstory, which is explained in the Shadow of the Horned Rat instruction manual.
To summarize, Morgan was the son of a Nuln graf(a high-ranking noble) and became a top student at the Nuln officer academy. However, due to his personality and delinquent actions, Morgan was expelled from the academy and was ostracised from every noble military institution(ie the knight chapters and pistoliers). One day, while staying at a tavern in Nuln, Morgan met the mercenary leader Schepke, and after some drinks, conversation, and a big speech, they decided to found a mercenary company. Inspired by Morgan's speech, one of the occupants of the tavern, the bright wizard Darius Redhand III, gifts Morgan the Grudgebringer sword, which is described as a dwarf forged sword with runes inscribed by a bright wizard, which becomes the namesake of the mercenary company. In the description of the Grudgebringers starting units in Shadow of the Horned Rat, it's said that the mercenary company has enjoyed a successful first year of operations before going to the Border Princes, where the game begins.
With that, there are already a few issues.
That's most of what I have about that for now. I'll now be addressing the 2 main points in the post that I believe were worth critiquing.
Taking all that into account, the theory that Lohner is Morgan Bernhardt seems very unlikely, there are blatant contradictions in the backstory and the supporting evidence isn't very solid.
With that said, there is a completely legitimate way that the theory of Lohner being Bernhardt can be true: the entire backstory, and parts of the actual story, for the Grudgebringers is retconned/not accurate in universe.
In the backstory of the Grudgebringers and in the story of the games, there are details that are no longer inline with the present vision of the Warhammer Fantasy world.
So it seems likely that these points are retconned in the present lore, but there's an alternative explanation. I mentioned before that it could be that the story is not accurate in universe, and there is a reason for that.
In Warhammer Fantasy lore, Kislev has a tradition of putting in present day figures in historical works. This is meant to explain why some pieces of art depict scenes like Tzarina Katarin standing alongside Magnus the Pious.
So, an alternative theory could be that the entire Grudgebringers backstory and events in the games that are presented are actually a Kislevite play that is getting certain details wrong and is not accurate in universe.
Theories aside, I also believe that there is at least an intent by the writers for Vermintide to imply that Lohner is Bernhardt. The way that things are worded heavily hint at the connection without fully committing.
That's pretty much all I have to say about this, I look forward to seeing what discussion comes from this.

It's been a pretty long time since the last skin pack came out(almost 2 years now). Before we used to get about one per year, but it seems last year was skipped over and it seems the same will happen this year, though there's a chance a new skin pack will release this year at the last moment.
Personally, I think it'd be neat if we got a skin pack based on the Grudgebringers from Shadow of the Horned Rat and Dark Omen.
Kruber would get a skin based on Morgan Bernhardt, usable on Mercenary and Foot Knight.
Bardin would get a skin based on Engrol Goldtongue, usable on Ironbreaker.
Kerillian would get a skin based on Ceridan(aka Ravandil for those who know), usable on Hand Maiden.
Saltzpyre would get a skin based on Sven Carlsson, usable on Witch Hunter and Bounty Hunter.
Sienna would get a skin based on Luthor Flamestrike, usable on Battle Wizard and Pyromancer.

I've been playing for a couple years now and I've never had anything like this happen. I haven't changed anything or done anything, I just launched the game and I suddenly can't play. No keys register at all on the warning screen.
EDIT: Fixed by launching the game in windowed mode, I guess? I also launched a bunch of Steam games before Vermintide, if that matters.

This shit is last week's, but worse
Curses
Shadow skulls suck Khorne Skulls are fun.
| Curse | Description | Extra Info | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skulls of Wrath | On death, enemies drop an exploding skull totem. | Slightly increases horde frequency. All horde units and Berserks/Plague Monks have a 5% chance to spawn the skull. Stormvermin and Mauler have a 10% chance, Chaos Warrior and Bestigor have a 20% chance, Monsters have a 50% chance. | Warrior Priest or zealot can ult in the middle of these guys and kill a bunch of enemies, it's pretty nice. |
| Shadow Skulls | Vicious skulls spawn out of thin air. Destroy or avoid them or else be incapacitated. | Spawn 3-5 homing skulls every 20-30 seconds. The skull has 3 HP, Infantry armor, it will die/despawn after taking enough damage/hitting a player or terrain. Being hit by the skull will take small damage and be stunned for 2.5 seconds. The stun effect cannot be resolved by teammates' attack/push. | This is just a pain in the ass. At least you can jump to avoid the stun. Doesn't help when you are surrounded by a horde though. |
Boons
I have a boon guide here for all chaos wastes boons. Some good boons and a good but situational buff. I personally HATE Hukon's Sundering, as it is very easy to ledge bosses that you don't want to ledge, or scatter a clump of enemies in different directions. It is also very good at staggering bosses, though. It's technically good CC as well, with the two caveats I mentioned above. i will almost always avoid taking it as I don't like the negatives- the boss stagger is great if used well, however. Movespeed on ult is good for closing in to the enemy or running away from trouble. For 250 coins it's a bit expensive for what it does, so I consider it an average boon, above average on low cooldown careers like Handmaiden. Neru's Patience is just insanely good on any class with a shield as a gunner can instantly refill ult.
| Boon | Description | Extra Info | Thoughts | Tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mork's (or possibly Gork's) Onslaught | Using your Career Skill grants 40% movement speed for 5 seconds. | -- | Nice little buff, amazing for getting away or closing in to specials with a melee career. Hilarious with a zealot using Crusade. Zoom Zoom. | C |
| Hukon's Sundering | After using your Career Skill your next 3 Melee Attacks launch a shockwave that damages and staggers enemies. | Has a max stack of 3. Stagger all enemies in 5 units range near you when you land a melee hit. Doesn't do damage. Only triggers on melee slot weapon. (Victor Note: triggers twice on battle wiz with burnout) | Great crowd control boon, good for boss ledging and staggering large clumps of enemies. However, it can stagger enemies behind you and your teammates, so be careful for a knocked down slave rat shanking Kruber's thicc booty. | A |
| Neru's Patience | Blocking enemy attacks reduces Career Skill Cooldown. | Reduce cooldown by 2 second every time. Has no internal cooldown. | Reduces CDR by a set amount not percentage, better with lower cooldown careers. Great boon, if you have a shield let a gunner hit it and you get an instant ult refresh | A |
Reward
| Recruit | Veteran | Champ | Legend | Cataclysm |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5000xp | Repeater Pistol of Bitter Dreams | 2x Emperor's Vault | 1 Red Dust | Pain, suffering, and scoreboards |
Careers
Characters that can equip a shield or who have a short cooldown for their ult get a nice boost here compared to ones who do not. Pretty balanced weekly that doesn't massively favor a single class, but it puts several at a disadvantage. Characters with movement ult get an extra boost as well.
| Character | Career | Special Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Wutelgi | Sister of the Thorn | Can use her wall a lot more to knock things away more often |
| Wutelgi | Waystalker | Ok bonus to trueflight, but as a ranged character it's more of a marginal increase compared to a more frontline career. Sundering stagger isn't as awful here as it may seem but it can have an impact on piercing shot |
| Wutelgi | Handmaiden | Only elf class with a shield, not that you need the CDR refund as much as other classes. Movespeed talent here makes her kinda nuts |
| Wutelgi | Shade | Awful choice this week since Hukon's will knock bosses around. It's manageable and I've had friends do well on shade but it's just a giant pain in the ass. One of the very few times I recommend handmaiden over literally any other elf class (in Chaos Wastes of course, shes fine in adventure mode) |
| Sienna | Battle Wiz | Burnout triggers Hukon's each time, meaning you can have 6 stuns in quick succession. Even a good usecase for lingerstorm due to all the hordes, but that's boring |
| Sienna | Pyromancer | -- |
| Sienna | Unchained | Decent synergy with her talents and CDR on block |
| Sienna | Necromancer | The Khorne skulls will kill your skellies. If you're playing necro this week, why do you hate yourself? |
| Kruber | Merc | Any Kruber class is a good choice this week, shields will make the run pretty easy |
| Kruber | Homeless Tree Man | -- |
| Kruber | Feet Knight | Great choice this week due to low cooldown |
| Kruber | Grail Knight | Movespeed boon will be a good way to close distance with specials |
| Bardin | Ranger Vet | -- |
| Bardin | Ironbreaker | Sit in front of a gunner and spam your ult this week |
| Bardin | Slayer | Movespeed and stagger on slayer ult is hilarious |
| Bardin | OE | Usually OE cannot get ult related talents- Neru's patience is one he can normally get. Movespeed boon is not one he usually gets, but you also need to shoot half your ult in one go to trigger it so kinda useless on him |
| Saltzpyre | Witch Hunter Captain | Good luck trying to headshot shit with everyone staggering all the enemies when they ult |
| Saltzpyre | Bounty Hunter | Sundering stagger isn't as awful here as it may seem but it can have an impact on his ult refund. Play literally anything else, really |
| Saltzpyre | Zealot | Movespeed ult and crusade is funny, but he has anti-synergy with Hukons, as you often want enemies to hit you to farm ult. I recommend avoiding him this week |
| Saltzpyre | Warrior Priest | Flail and shield is even better this week |
We beat it once or twice, got a few clips. Off sick today so didn't feel like searching through my screenshots.
Like last week, but worse. Let me know what you guys think in the comments!

Every time I play this level those healing droughts are just out of reach, are they just there to torment me?
r/Vermintide • u/WidePound6577 • 4d ago
In theory, is boss/loot die farming (tower of treachery), screaming bell full book runs, or into the pit/devious delvings skipping faster for xp farming? (All assuming it's done on legend). Essentially, what method should give the most xp for time spent?
Was trying to work it out earlier, but I don't know exact XP numbers and it was bugging me more than it should.
Edit: just remembered I posted a similar question before, sorry. Feel free to delete this if there's a problem with that or the post itself.

Greetings my fellow vermin slayers,
I have recently picked up the game and played for a few weeks now, maining Kruber.
I got to a point where I am satisfied with my Merc, so I started trying Grail Knight, but every time I use him, I feel disappointed. I was under the impression that Grail Knight should be completely bonkers in melee, but right now to me it feels like both classes just have ups and downs at melee, despite merc also having one of the best special killing guns in the game.
Adv of Merc: Way better horde clearing through passive cleave and more total power you can gather in hordes, which also makes elite killing in big horde situations feel identical if not better thanks to more probable crits. I feel tankier thanks to blade ward, being able to ult every time I got hit bad/ got into a sticky situation in general getting more temp hp. Higher crit = I ALWAYS have swift slaying active, in general merc has higher attack speed.
Adv of Grail Knight: Faster solo elite killing, ult helps maim patrols a bit more than what you can pull off during merc's ult CC, better boss damage contribution. A bit faster thanks to passive movement speed, more consistent as he is not as reliant on crits/horde being present for his self buffs.
So all in all, they feel way too similar in melee, merc being easier to keep pushing through tough situations and hordes, while Knight having a bit more damage into elites/bosses. 2 melee weapons feel almost redundant on Knight as both Bretonian sword AND mace + sword do everything well enough, I end up getting shield as a second weapon on Knight just to survive better in extreme situations that Merc doesn't need a shield for(Merc can ult to get out of a mess/revive a teammate + kill specials with gun, knight needs shield and a lot of work for the same goals). I am not too sure I can give Grail Knight team support award either because it's hard to decide what's better 3 minor buffs or constant temp hp + constant get out of jail free cards. It is also frustrating that Grail Knights ult does not give invincibility so you can get tagged during animation.
Am I missing something important here? Maybe some traits give grail knight crazy breakpoints? Thank you for helping me understand the grail knight better.
