Allegedly Duo preorder will get a $1200 trade in credit

After speaking with a rep, I was told that a $1200 trade in credit will be offered. Will have to wait and see as they haven’t been promoting anything yet.

Wireless How report service dead zones?

I am trying to report service dead zones to Verizon. I have found no way to easily do this. Is there an easier way to do this that doesn’t require me calling 611 or me going onto Verizon’s help section on their website? Any help is much appreciate.

What a feeling….

It almost like that first sip of ice cold beer…getting a new number…and it’s clean. No spam texts or calls…no voicemails from people looking Mr. Weiner. No unsolicited calls from multiple numbers about loan approvals. It’s so nice..so much more satisfying than blocking and blocking and blocking.

Confused about why I'm receiving texts/emails

• Upvotes

I recently switched out of my grandfathered plan and got Unlimited Data for $83/month with my loyalty discount.

I keep getting texts and emails from Verizon saying my data usage is at 50% limit, 75% limit for the month.

But it's unlimited. Why am I still getting these emails and texts? How do I shut them off?

I even signed into my account and verified it's unlimited data, which was set up by one of the higher-up Customer Service Reps, I saved her emails for proof in case problems arose.

Wireless Apple or Verizon for Duo

• Upvotes

Hi there like many others I’m trying to pre order the iPhone duo (1TB black for me). After looking through some posts on and off today verizon doesn’t seem to be the best carrier out there. Can’t do “get ready” etc. but I have 279 remaining on the my current phone (IP 16PM 1Tb) I would only get it looks like 610 for trade in credit through Apple and non paid off phone through verizon but it’s also asking for a down payment currently. So would it be better to go through Apple or verizon as I don’t know if Apple would ask for a down payment and wouldn’t be locked to verizon far as I know of. Last time did through Apple but didn’t do pre order or anything. Sorry for any ignorance of how these things work trying to figure out the best plan and which app to load up. Thanks

Wireless Ordering Duo as a new customer

Quick question ~ I’m ordering the Duo as a brand new customer with Verizon. I’m interested in signing up for Simplicity with the switcher promo but am noticing it won’t let us pick Simplicity as a plan on Apple’s website. Would there be an issue if I signed up through Apple and called Verizon on the back-end to get it swapped to Simplicity or at this point should I only preorder through Verizon’s website?

(Rant) Agents lie, upsell, then lie some more!

• Upvotes

I feel like ranting, feel free to skip to the end.

Over the past two days I've wasted hours (Doing other stuff while checking into the slow chat responses) trying to redeem a "Let us pay off your phone" loyalty upgrade offer I saw in my offers recently.

I initially thought it was nifty. It'd be a straightforward process to have my current device payment waived by Verizon and upgrade my phone. They're not philanthropists for sure, but a 36 month lock in to the new phone was acceptable enough. Less headache with this current phone. So I went to redeem it from my number specific offers, but it didn't apply to checkout. Just prompted me to pay off the full amount. Some hassling, couldn't find it later.

So I thought, okay fine. Support. I contact them, Ai, nope. Real agent please. Still felt scripted and AI assisted. Definitely not helpful. They mentioned flex, early upgrade, trade in, this, that. None of them were the promo I was talking about.

Right okay, I was certain I got the specific offer. But they kept on pushing me to get a new line with a new phone. Why would I get a new line and a new phone? So I asked for a different agent. Got the usual "give us time to review chat" still have to provide details after their "review"

Well they still took ten minutes between replies. Timed out. New agent. Same thing. Another agent. Same thing. All of these saying that they were "reviewing my account" before eventually stopping their replies and a new agent coming in. They'd say it wasn't showing up before trying to upsell me.

So I thought. Other carriers are offering the same thing if I switch. End chat, I'm switching. They call my phone number which I thought was funny so I didn't answer. But then they text me? I chat with a customer rep before they say "Great! We'll apply the loyalty promo to your account". I clarified that it was for the full payoff and upgrade and they said yes. Finally.

---

The next day I just wanted to see if it was actually pending on my account. The agent said they had added a note on my account after all. But this new agent said it wasn't there, yet after a bit of talking they said "Right, we'll go forward with the promotion for full payoff and upgrade after all"

Then the agent tried to backtrack and upsell me on another line. Then he said "We'll give you a loyalty discount for $10/month off for a year" when I complained. So I was still unclear.

I had the screenshots and records, two agents had said they applied the very promotion that I saw with my own eyes. I call in to the line to speak to a real voice, they say it's not there, they'll give me a callback with the proper division to have a promotion correction. Dunno when. Dunno if I care after all of this lying.

At this point I've accepted that the only way to get this "promotion" is to just switch carriers. I'm fine with that. This has been a hassle.

---

TL:DR: Loyalty payoff upgrade offer wasn't working. Two agents said they applied it to my account. I have screenshots of their promises, I even made sure to CLARIFY what the promotion was. And that it was for my account. They MIGHT call me, not even sure anymore. Too many lies.

Not so subtle push to switch.

Wireless I was approved for 5000 dollars financing, but was blocked halfway through the process??

• Upvotes

Hopefully the title makes sense. I wanted to get my own phone line for the first time (I'm 20yo), before this I've just been on my parents phone line. I already knew I wanted the pixel 11 pro xl and a Samsung tablet. I went into the Verizon store, spoke with the sales rep about what I wanted, and he helped me through my application. Everything was going great, I was also supposed to trade in my old phone to shave some money off. Suddenly towards the end of the process, the application got blocked by some automatic system. He told me he just had to call and quickly get them to unlock it , and that it just happens sometimes. The lady on the phone then asked to speak to me and told me I have to wait 120 hours for my credit report to be thoroughly reviewed before I can finish my application. The sales rep told me he's never seen this happen before and seemed pretty surprised. He even went to get his supervisor to see if there was any way to bypass it. Apparently it's common around holidays to make sure nobody is doing fraud, paired with me being young and it being my first phone plan on my own.

I suppose I'm just worried I'll get denied somehow. I was really looking forward to a new phone and tablet 😭 I don't have any outstanding credit cards or balances, nothing that should be concerning. Has anybody else experienced this? Am I worrying for no reason?

So what's the deal with this number?

1 (800) 779-2067

When I first found it it was awesome, it skipped the Ai prompts and the call center was helpful. i started to give it out to customers in case they wanted to skip the Ai prompts, but literally every single phone starts with a prompt

its pretty easy to get pass, just enter in your number twice then hit 1, but I still see older people struggling with this

Any idea why my phone straight up bypasses the prompts, while everyone else has to enter in their number twice?

Wireless Verizon CS Rep said they don't have a "Retention department"

Been with Verizon 11 years. Trying to get a retention deal and tried asking to port out to the AI "agent" that you start with. Transferred me to a customer service agent about 10k miles from here, who said she can give me the port information. I asked if she had any deals available for me to stay. She couldn't even find the ones that are offered on my App and Verizon website. I asked to be transferred to a retention specialist and she claimed they don't have a retention department.

I'm confused, because so many on here have talked about getting transferred to Retention, and even Google search AI says that you need to talk to someone in Retention for Loyalty offers.

What am I missing? How do I get to one of these mythical unicorns?

(I am not opted into "Verizon Loyalty" program, and don't want to because of data privacy, but I have years of small l "loyalty" to the company)

______________________________________________________
Update: I requested a port pin again, and this time, it offered me both 25% off for 6 months, plus a text message saying, "Before you switch carriers, let's make sure you're getting the best deal. Click below..." The button was a phone number which connected me to an AI agent. The first time I called it, it wouldn't let me talk to a human. I called it again and said, "I'd like to talk to a retention agent" and it connected me to a much more helpful person who was aware of my time with the company and was able to get me a new phone without trade in, and with a better deal than I had seen on the Verizon site, or anyone else I talked to prior.

Thank you all for the answers and suggestions. As always, I never understand how a question asked for help ends up downvoted, but I'll leave it up in case it helps someone else.

I don't know if the person was in "Retention" or "Loyalty", but whatever department it was, he offered vastly better assistance than other departments.

Duo Early Upgrade Question (pre-order via apple)

I am looking to pre-order the Iphone Duo tomorrow via the Apple Store. I am doing this to give myself the best chance at getting the phone in store on release day and not having to wait for Verizon shipping which has burned me before.

My question. on the Verizon site they are saying I only have to pay $194 to upgrade early because I have paid off more than half the phone. But I also have an option to pay the entire balance and get a better trade. id rather pay the $194. if I check out through the apple store will I have that option? Or will the only option be to pay the larger sum on the phone since I am not doing it on the Verizon website.

Wireless Online shows device locked but rep emailed confirmation it was unlocked

Took advantage of the discount for the pixels recently and at the time of ordering paid the discounted price of the phones in full.

So no monthly credit or device payment plan here.

Yet under device management the phones still show that they are locked.

About a week ago I reached out to CS via chat and they said they unlocked the phones. They sent me email (which seems to have been manually typed up) as "confirmation" that the devices were unlocked.

Yet after a week the online lock status still shows locked.

Is there a way to see on the phones if they are indeed unlocked? I see suggestions to get Google Fi trial but I also don't want the Verizon esim to be removed.

Thanks in advance

FiOS If we have Verizon Fios Phone, TV and Internet for the house?

FiOS Can personal accounts be linked to business accounts involuntarily?

This post has been resolved, there is an outage in my area. It took seven different people on the phone to get someone who could actually tell me that. Everyone else kept trying to access a business account that has nothing to do with me or my girlfriend and it didn't get any better until we threatened to cancel all of our accounts business and otherwise. Suddenly they could find our account and confirmed that we have an outage. Still considering switching to Comcast or something because I'm afraid that they won't be able to find my account again if I really need them.

FiOS CHR30A Bridge Mode/Pass-through?

Hello,

I just upgraded my house to 5GB Fiber and my Router is the CHR30A. I am installing a Unifi Cloud Gateway and Unifi WAPs. I want my Unifi gateway to controll the traffic, so I went to put the router into pass through mode and it does not appear to be an option.

I called Fios tech support and they are indicating that this router can't be put into bridge mode, which seems odd. There are options to disable wifi channels, and it appears I can disable IP address distribution. This is my first time playing with the settings of this router because its so new. Has anyone encountered this or have a solution?

TIA

Wireless Verizon service issues and valuing Customers

I’ve been a loyal customer for years, but the recent experience has been deeply frustrating. We used to get rock-solid service in some of the most remote, backwoods areas of Missouri. Now that we live in a city, my wife regularly loses service in strange pockets where the network shouldn’t be struggling at all. Combined with the complete lack of trade-in deals or loyalty offers for existing customers, it’s hard to justify staying. I’m seriously considering taking my business elsewhere.
Does anyone else feel like this?

Wireless Random no bars, new 18 Pro Max

Just yesterday at my work location I noticed I had zero bars. I toggle airplane mode and I get bars back.

Then this morning I arrive at work and boom, no bars again. Toggle airplane mode and it comes back. 30min later no bars again.

Anyone else seeing this issue. I know there has been issues with the new iPhones and AT&T but haven’t heard of it happening with Verizon. Just seeing if anyone else has had this issue?

Thanks

FiOS Verizon messed up their software, Again!

After 2 days I called Verizon about why I can't watch my tv. The AI kept saying there is an outage and I was telling AI it has been 2 days. The AI was all over the place. It even started speaking in spanish and then quoted me instructions on how to handle customers. Every time I asked to an agent it said ok then changed its mind. I finally was so mad I said the MF cussword and then it said 'One second while I connect you to a live agent'. So cussing at it what? Showed I was mad and it was programmed to handle angry customers by sending them to a person after they get enraged super mad, but not before. They record this? They must learn nothing. So the person on the phone did indeed confirm there is an outage and they will have a new software update fixing it out, Tomorrow! How do you screw up this bad.

Absolute worst customer service experience of my life following attempted fraud on my Verizon account

TLDR: an attempt was made to fraudulently port my cell line over to an unknown device, which resulted in a week-long debacle of transferring to a new account. The "new account" itself was also fraudulent and Verizon incorrectly suspected me as being the fraudster, so their decision was to permanently disconnect my line I've had for 20 years since getting my first cell phone. I have also been "blacklisted" from creating any new account at Verizon.

Below is the very detailed explanation:

  • Monday, 10/5
    • Received text alerts around 5:30 PM that an attempt to login to my account was being made from NJ. I live in NY and this was not done by me. The attempted attack was specifically someone trying to port my number over to another device.
    • I was finishing up my work day and did not acknowledge the texts until that evening, when I read them again and realized it was a legitimate attempt to access my account by someone else.
    • I called Verizon's customer service to file a fraud concern. It was confirmed that my account was not impacted at that time. I researched this and found that there is a common scam where people attempt to port numbers over in-store because there are limited protections against this, and they then go on to take possession of the number or account.
    • Approximate time spent on the phone with customer service on 10/5 = 1.5 hours
  • Tuesday, 10/6
    • I called the store in NJ in the morning to ask the manager if he was aware of an attempted fraud in his store. He said he was not, but after I gave him my name and the timing, it turns out he did find a record of something happening on 10/5 - specifically that somebody came into the store impersonating my deceased father and was using his name to attempt to access my account.
      • My family has had one single account for nearly 20 years at this point. I have been on the same account since I've been a Verizon customer and have been an active account manager for at least 10 years, while the account "ownership" remained tied to my father's name. He passed away earlier this year.
      • After my father passed, I deactivated his line and remained on the same account.
    • I called Verizon customer service back later on Tuesday to inform them that someone was impersonating my dead father and asked what was going to be done about it.
      • I was instructed that I would need to send proof of his death in order to claim the position of account owner. I said fine, I have everything you would need, let me know how to send things over.
      • Instead of transferring ownership of the existing account, a customer service rep instead decided that I should just have a new account created from scratch that my number could be ported over to. I said sure, whatever will fix the situation.
      • A "new account" was created between 4-5 PM on 10/6. I had been on the phone call with that rep for roughly an hour and had to leave for plans that evening. I was told the account would take "24 to 48 hours to be finalized" and that I would be called back on Thursday.... ok.
      • At 7:30 PM that evening, I received an email notifying me that my service had been suspended due to fraudulent activity.
    • Approximate time spent on the phone with customer service on 10/6 = 2 hours
  • Wednesday, 10/7
    • Since I had an inactive phone, I had no option except to go to a Verizon store to see what could be done. I went to a corporate Verizon store around noon.
    • I spent 3.5 hours in the store trying to resolve my issue of no service, which ultimately led me to using the Verizon's staff's phones to go through the exact same exercises of calling the customer service and fraud lines. Throughout this process, we found out the following:
      • My "new" account had an unknown name with zero relation to me tied to it as an account owner. This person's email, address, and a separate phone number were also listed in the account. I was able to take a picture of the Verizon’s rep’s tablet that showed this and I have the information.
      • My phone line, name and email were included in the "new" account, but seemingly not in a way that showed I had authority.
      • After the last 90 minute phone call and waiting on hold for the final 30 minutes of said call, I was disconnected with no resolution. Luckily, my service was somehow restored and I was able to leave the store with at least a working phone, even though the account was more of a mess than when I walked in.
    • That evening, I attempted two more lengthy phone calls with the customer service team to resolve the account ownership issue. I continued to be placed on holds and passed from department to department until I finally gave up at 11 PM
    • Approximate time spent in the store or on the phone with customer service on 10/7 = 6 hours
  • Thursday, 10/8
    • I called customer service again on Thursday morning and probably had the most success to date in resolving the account issue. I was working with a rep who was able to confirm that bad actor’s name was removed from my account; only my phone line on the account and that I had sole ownership of it; my email, address, PIN and secret question were all updated; and I was able to login to this "new" account for the first time on the Verizon app and my browser.
      • The rep said that for the time being, everything should be settled but that there would be a need to confirm my identity further in the coming days because of the initial problem. I said that's fine, I will do whatever is needed to confirm and put this to rest. There was still zero explanation as to what happened with this “new account” to get it this far.
    • That evening when I got home from work, my service was turned off again.
      • I was on the phone with Verizon customer service for hours and at the point of literally begging them to help me.
      • I made it to the point of being asked to upload proof of my identity and uploaded my NY state driver's license as instructed. For some reason I still cannot fathom, this was not accepted and the fraud team told me there was nothing further they could do, and then hung up the phone on me.
      • While looking through my Verizon account more thoroughly, we saw a receipt for an iPhone 17 that was ordered on 10/6 and was currently on hold. I did not order this device.
    • Approximate time spent on the phone with customer service on 10/8 = 3 hours
  • Friday, 10/9
    • With no service yet again, I had no choice but to return to the same Verizon store today.
      • My wife and I were at the store for roughly two hours and left with no resolution. I was informed that not only was my number still suspended and could not be reactivated, but that it was "blacklisted" and that I, as an individual, was also blacklisted from Verizon if I were to try opening a new account. Again, the in-store team (while generally friendly) proved to be powerless in their actions and could do nothing but stand next to me while I repeated the same merry-go-round of customer service hand-offs I have been doing all week.
      • We considered a number of different options that included opening a completely new phone number under my wife's account, or just going to a new provider and starting from scratch.
      • At the end of the last call attempt, the rep told me that my case was being escalated to the "internal issuance" team in an attempt to reclaim my number. They gave me a case number and told me it would take at least 24-48 hours to hear a response.
    • We filed an FCC response that afternoon and I received a response from someone named Raven on the “executive relations” team notifying me that my case is their “highest priority”. They told me to email or call them and that I would be responded to within 24-72 hours. I sent the bulk of this message so far to this point in an email and called twice, leaving voicemails each time - one on 10/9, one on 10/10. Zero response or acknowledgement since.
    • Approximate time spent in the store or on the phone with customer service on 10/9 = 3.5 hours
  • Monday, 10/12
    • After waiting over 48 hours, I decided to make one final attempt with customer service to resolve my account and service issue. It was completely fruitless and involved me being transferred between the fraud and customer care teams FOUR TIMES over and 1.5 hours. I was completely defeated and gave up/hung up.
    • We returned to the Verizon store for the third time an I made the decision to just open a new line under my wife’s account since there was no other option before traveling this coming week.
    • Approximate time spent in the store or on the phone with customer service on 10/12 = 2 hours

I am truly at a loss of what to do. I’ve more or less moved on from expecting or even wanting my old phone number back and, at this point, it is purely the principle of how fucking awful this customer service experience was. I have truly never experienced anything like this in my life and am baffled at the continuous lack of help from anyone at this company.

What would you do?

Wireless Can someone explain the math here?

Looking to buy iPhone Duo 1TB.

Total price: $2,599.99

Verizon trade in offer $1,000

Down payment due on purchase is $599.99

That leaves me with $1,000 remainder due over 36 months which should equal $27.77 per month.

However, when I go to the last step before check out I get a box that says:
—————————————————————————————
Option 1

$44.44/mo for 36 mos

How it works with Verizon financing:

Down payment of $599.99 due today

$55.55/mo charged to your Verizon mobile bill. Taxes may be charged on your monthly bill or due at sale

$27.77/mo credit on your Verizon mobile bill

0% APR offer for 36 mos

What does that even mean? The math is not matching up. Why is the device payment $44.44 if my trade in offer is $1k and I’m paying $600 out of pocket? Does anybody know what I’m missing here?

Wireless iPhone Duo Preorders: Asking Retail Employees!

Hey!

As the title suggests, I’m gearing up for this Duo release heavyyy. I want to ensure that, even though I can’t buy the device outright from Apple’s website at the pre-order window of 5am PST, I’m going to ensure that I’m one of, if not the first person, to get into my local retail store and secure a pre-order.

That being said: with the parts issues that Apple has faced with Duo production and the most recent sinking of a container ship in the Straight of Hormuz carrying a bajillion iPhones (hopefully not a bunch of Duos), do you have any inklings or any information regarding the ability to fulfill pre-orders on day 1 with the initial wave of stock?

TL;DR I’m gonna go to a Verizon store to preorder at like 1pm EST tomorrow. Will I manage to secure a day 1 device, or is it going to be hairy?

Discount timing - 25% off

Mods please remove if there has been something similar recently, just sharing my experience.

I recently got a 25% loyalty discount. My last $20x12 month discount expired and I could not find a new one right away. I waited until after I paid the full price bill after the discount expired, and went to "My Offers" in the Verizon App and found 25% off entire bill for a year. Not sure if it will work for everyone but I have seen folks mentioning they can't find the loyalty discount again. You just need to pay 1 full price bill before it shows up.
