New Rule: No Photos or Personal Details Without Consent
Hi everyone,
We recently added a new rule: No photos or personal details without consent.
Please do not post photos, videos, names, addresses, workplaces, license plates, or other identifying details of private individuals without their consent. If someone is already part of a public news story, their publicly reported name or image may be allowed, but private or sensitive identifying information still cannot be shared.
We know posts like this are usually well-intentioned and meant as warnings, PSAs, or attempts to help the community. The issue is that we generally cannot verify consent, intent, or accuracy. Even well-intentioned posts can lead, and have led, to harassment, doxxing, retaliation, mistaken identification, or other real-world harm, including to people completely unrelated to the post.
We are open to discussion and feedback, but we are putting this rule in place based on past and very recent incidents that could have been prevented had this rule been in place and enforced.
If you see a post breaking this rule, please report it.

UWS Expectant Dads - Drinks at Fred's Tonight (10/14, 6:30–8 PM)
Following up on my post from last week! We're having our first informal meetup for neighborhood dads expecting babies in 2027 at Fred's tonight (Wednesday, 10/14), from 6:30–8:00 PM.
Just a casual opportunity to grab a drink and meet some other guys in the neighborhood who are about to become fathers.
If you are in the same boat, feel free to stop by! Happy to share our WhatsApp group details as well since we'll be doing these periodically.

Another dog owner letting their dog loose in a kid's park
Told the lady her off leash dog does not belong in the kid's park. "Oh she's well trained it's fine." I hate these people.

locked myself out of my apartment how are these two locksmiths
Golden Key and Metro. they said it would be 185 or 195 if they could pick a lock, but if they had to change it, it would be another 200. Are these prices reasonable and are these companies reliable?

Best hot apple cider?
My girlfriend brought me to her Westchester town for apple picking 2 weekends ago and I was skeptically, but the cider truly was better than mere apple juice. What's your favorite spot to get hot cider in these months?

Film crews on 71st and Columbus
We parked on 71st and Columbus and a guy outside told us that our car would be towed if we didn’t move it by 8am tomorrow, but there were no signs saying “NO PARKING”, just a small sign that had an arrow facing the other way with cones in those spots.
We were well outside the cones and on the other side of the arrow, will our car get towed?

Waterline condos
We are considering moving into an apartment there and are curious about the actual quality of life being that far west and away from the subways. Do the shuttles make commutes easier? Is there a strong community? Do you like the nearby restaurants, grocery options, convenience stores, etc.? Any first hand experience would be great to hear.

Other beginner tennis folks wanna rally for the remainder of the season?
It’s been one of my goals to learn how to play tennis because it is one of the best sports for healthy aging and longevity. I finally learned yesterday with a friend who taught me!
I need to work on my backhand and control as well as build my confidence in knowing the rules. But I can rally for a while and think it would be fun to practice serving/hitting.
My friend even told me if he didn’t know me, he wouldn’t have thought I was a beginner? I’m taking it with a grain of salt though lol.
Hoping to connect with people at a similar skill level that live in the neighborhood/nyc. I am a 32M. Live in the low 80s for almost 7 years now. Work in healthcare analytics.
Feel free to send a DM if interested!

First time mom looking for childcare advice!
First time poster long time upper west sider! My husband and I welcomed our first child in August, and my husband has since returned to work. I have a generous maternity leave and am off until early January, when our child will be 5 months old.
We’re a bit overwhelmed by the options available to us and would love to hear others’ perspectives on nanny vs nanny share vs daycare up here. TIA!
