Everyone is on their phone all the time

I'm having such a hard time making friends here because literally anyone else I've seen alone has their face glued to their phone. I'm not saying I've never done that, but I do make an effort to stay off of it most of the time I'm outside and definitely while I'm trying to make friends. My whole life I have always been the one who has had to approach others to start an interaction and I wish someone else would approach me for once. I'm super extroverted and have a pretty bubbly and welcoming personality and make friends easily once I'm actually talking to someone so I know that I'm not the problem here. Can't people just stay off their phone for like 5 minutes and make eye contact and exchange smiles with the people around them????

Honest feedback about Business School

As the title states I’m looking for some honest feedback on University of Oregon’s undergraduate business school. My kid is interested in business administration, marketing or accounting major, applying this fall for next year. Any current/past students or parents of students that can give me the lowdown? Quality of the instruction, availability of internships, career advising/job placement? Is the classroom vibe competitive or collaborative? My kid is truly interested in attending and we’re in state so any info from those who know directly is appreciated. Thanks.

Intramural volleyball- I registered as a free agent but now there are no open teams left, am I cooked?

I registered for intramural volleyball for the first time a few weeks ago and lowkey forgot about it in the last few days. Now there are only 2 actually playing teams (not waitlist) that are looking for free agents and they all dont work with my schedule. There are a ton of waitlisted teams with only 3 or 4 players, but I'm worried that players won't be moving as much now that the registration is over (I don't want to be stuck on a team that ends up not having enough players to actually play.

Am I too late to get on a team that isn't on the waitlist? It would suck if I am since I already paid for the membership.

Grassroots Community Organizer & Civic Canvasser

Pay: $30.00 – $50.00 / hour (Performance-based: $2.0 per door knocked / flyer delivered; team averages 20–35+ doors/hr)

Position Type: Flexible hours / Part-Time or Full-Time

Location: Field-based in your local community

Turn Local Action into Real Impact

Ready to be the spark that gets your community voting and taking action? We are looking for energetic, passionate individuals to hit the ground running as Grassroots Community Organizers. In this role, you will be the bridge between everyday voters and critical local movements, meeting neighbors at their doorsteps to listen to their concerns, share vital campaign visions, and inspire civic participation.

This role is ideal for students, part-timers, and self-starters seeking a meaningful, high-energy gig that pays well and fits around classes, family, or personal projects. If you have drive, hustle, and a passion for people, you can turn your walking hours into real change—and real income.

What You’ll Do

Connect Door-to-Door: Meet neighbors face-to-face to spark conversations about upcoming elections, local ballot measures, and critical campaign issues.

Empower Voters: Provide voters with clear, non-partisan access to registration details, polling sites, and issue backgrounders.

Listen & Document: Capture genuine community feedback and log outreach data accurately in our mobile app to help shape campaign priorities.

Bridge Cultural Gaps: Use multilingual skills to ensure every neighborhood voice is heard, respected, and included.

Multi-Channel Engagement: Support occasional phone banks or text outreach to follow up with engaged community members.

Who You Are

A Natural Self-Starter: You enjoy working independently outdoors, setting personal goals, and managing your own day-to-day rhythm.

People-First Communicator: Whether your background is in retail, hospitality, student activism, or fundraising, you know how to connect quickly and warmly with strangers.

Impact-Driven: You believe democracy works best when everyday people show up and get involved.

Reliable & Resilient: Comfortable being on your feet, navigating neighborhoods, and handling quick rejections with a positive attitude.

Bilingual Skills (Bonus): Fluency in Spanish or other community languages is a major plus!

Perks & Benefits

High Earning Potential: Straightforward, performance-based pay ($2.00 per door/flyer) giving motivated go-getters the power to easily earn $40 to $80+ per hour.

Total Schedule Flexibility: Build shifts around your class syllabus, primary job, or personal commitments.

Career Growth: Fast tracks into field leadership, team coordination, and campaign management roles

Must be comfortable encouraging people to get out and vote and working with a republican candidate.

Live off-campus with some funky armchairs? Want 2 free slipcovers?

We changed our living room furniture, and no longer have 2 stuffed armchairs. We now have two spare slipcovers, chocolate brown, no holes, no stains, from a pet- and smoke-free house. If your chairs are a bit beat up, you can toss a cover over them and they'll look presentable again. Or use the covers for protection in anticipation of a party.

Walking distance from campus, about 10 minutes to the south, by Laurelwood Golf Course.

Checking Ducks Dine On?

How do you check how many dine on points you have left? I was told the other day that I had 15 points/meals left but apparently now it's only 2, despite me not using it that much.

Is there any way I can check online?

My old roommate moved out and I am looking for someone to take their room. I am not an active student right now but I would prefer a student to take the room since it is really close to campus. Is there anything I can post the listing?

Football Student Marketplace Tickets Sold Out?

I didn't win the lottery for a football ticket (rigged, ikr), anyways,I went to go buy one from the student marketplace yesterday when it opened, but when I got into the student marketplace, there wasn't anything in there. My roommate had seen some listings maybe an hour earlier. Does this mean all of the student marketplace tickets are sold out? Thoughts?

Lease takeover

LEASE TAKEOVER — Stadium Park Apartments | Eugene, OR
I’m looking for someone to take over my lease at Stadium Park Apartments (90 Commons Dr, Eugene, OR 97401). The lease runs through July 23, 2027.
Apartment Details:
2 bed / 2 bath apartment
Private bathroom for each bedroom
Fully furnished
Parking pass included
Second bedroom is currently occupied by a friend
Rent: $859/month
Rent is due on the 1st of each month
4-day grace period before rent is considered late
The apartment is already furnished and ready to move into, making this a convenient option for someone looking for housing in Eugene without having to furnish an entire apartment.
Why I’m Moving:
I recently moved to Eugene from Texas in August, but unfortunately, an immediate family member was recently diagnosed with cancer. Because of the circumstances, I feel that I need to be closer to my family during this difficult time.
I’m willing to cover the first month’s rent and any applicable moving/transfer fees to help make the transition easier for the person taking over the lease.
I’m happy to provide pictures, a video walkthrough, or arrange an in-person tour for anyone interested.
📱 Interested? Contact me at [832-215-3861](tel:832-215-3861). Text or call is the best way to reach me.
Thank you, and please feel free to reach out with any questions!

We bought our student a Lap Top from Costco before the start of the year and it’s on sale now.

We took the receipt back in and saved $600. Just sharing in case anyone happened to buy the same or is looking for a new gaming laptop.
