I got a little work bonus last month but I'm still a budget gear goblin so I put together some new setups for my girlfriend and I. We're big fans of creek stomping and river wading, so ultralight baitcasting is our gear preference. I'm also a slut for CDM/JDM tackle so obviously I went to aliex. I got myself a Loongze A51 paired with a Tsurinoya Dexterity II. I knew the Loongze was going to be ridiculous, but I really can't overstate how nice the reel is. Lightest spool on the market and phenomenal braking and all that, but truly the fit and finish is top fucking notch. The Dexterity II was a bit of a gamble, but I've been fishing a tsu Intruder all summer and love it to death so I knew the dex wouldn't be a let down - and it's absolutely not. I broke it in with a 1.2g micro spoon and it sent that thing into orbit, just no struggle to load the tip with that light weight whatsoever. I didn't have enough daylight to really push the lower floor, it handled a 0.5g jighead with a lil plastic just fine but I'll have to put it to the test this weekend.
My girlfriend's setup is an Ark Gravity BF-Avid because that's just the best reel at that price point hands down, and put it on a Mavllos Plume. Haven't tried it more than some dry casts but I fully believe when people say it's the best BFS rod for under $100. I personally would want something less whippy for bfs, this thing is a live one. It loads up incredibly well under a gram weight so I have a feeling I'm going to be borrowing her gear every so often.
First lil juvenile lmb on the new setup for attention, and a side note: I've never seen bass stack up on a hole behind a riffle like these lil guys were. I thought they were weirdly dark shad or something at first, but it was a school of bass picking off the shiners in this hole. Basically a boil of bait fish just jammed against the structure with a dozen dinks picking them off in the stream, they've been held there for the last few days after a big storm.
