Scotland College Course advice
Hi guys i know plans won’t always go the way you think but I came up with this idea for college. — I’m thinking of starting college in the summer of 2027 to hopefully become a paediatric nurse. (disclaimer: i posted this in r/edinburgh but they removed the post and recommend i post someplace like here)
The course i’m going to apply for after Christmas is ‘Gateway to Health and Care Professions: Phase 1’ I have all the requirements needed and a good personal statement so i’m not too worried about getting denied (I will be sitting N5 exams before the summer.)
I believe i could really get this as I already have a bit of first aid practice with the Air Cadets
I’m getting a lot of support from my parents (mum especially as shes doing a childcare course in uni) and biology teacher.
After completing that course I believe you go onto Phase 2 in January 2028 and by 2029 I could be in university on my way to do an HNC in healthcare practice in 2030. Is this a good idea?

England I want to switch Unis and my Degree
Hello Reddit,
I am currently a year 3 student studying Politics at University. Three years later and I hate it, I’ve only scored a maximum B in a few modules throughout year 1 and 2 and I am dreading how much more readings I will have to do in year 3 in a subject I hate. I don’t want to finish year 3 with a 2:2 or even less. Which I think might be the case with how things are going.
This is why I am thinking of switching to a different University and studying International Business, something I believe I will have more interest in that also aligns really well with my career path of finance as well as the fact that I have my own business I run. I received a provisional offer from Brunel University but for year 1 as I couldn’t switch to year 2 with my politics transcript. The biggest problem is that this means Student Finance will only cover two years and I would have to cover the 3rd year on my own. And although I have two years to save for the tuition fee, it is still uncertain if I will be able to cover it when the time comes. That also means that I would have wasted two years studying International Relations. I am conflicted please advise.
For the background of how I ended up studying International Relations and why I’m thinking of switching. I have realised a while ago that I absolutely dislike politics. Most of all I dislike the readings and subsequently the assignments. I don’t mind the classes but the reading materials I find extremely confusing and tedious and I have zero motivation or interest in the content. My A levels were heavily maths, IT and economics and I interned in the financial sector during summer and loved it!
How I ended up doing politics begun in sixth form. I was on track to studying economics in university, with a prediction of A*AA but something happened at home and I ended up living in a refuge which greatly affected my studies. I didn’t really understand what depression was or that I was going through one, and never got the necessary help. I ended up getting much lower grades than I was predicted except for one course which I did get A\ for. But this completely derailed my plans and set me back. I had a provisional offer from the University of Bath and Royal Holloway University but I did not meet their entry requirements.*
The University of Bath said they could offer me a place if I resat maths and got even one grade higher, but I couldn’t possibly work and pay for my own rent in London at the time for an entire year while studying to resit maths it simply wasn’t feasible. So I ended up choosing a different Uni through clearing, they did not offer economics and I was told by an advisor that International relations was similar to politics so I chose it.

Scotland Career change!
My wife is currently a Community Nurse in NE Scotland and is considering a change to primary teaching.
The folks over at UKteaching forbid posts from non teaching staff so I thought I'd ask here.
What are job prospects like in primary teaching now and what does that look like onto the future?
What's the workload and balance look like?
Cheers!

Setting up a music course in FE!
Hi! I'm looking for some advice. I've been tasked with setting up a music course/ department in an SEMH College, but have no idea how to go about it. My line manager is too busy currently to help and I don't want to wait/ rely on him too much. I've gotten a course specification I like, gone through it quite thoroughly to make sure it's suitable for our students. But I'm unsure as to what my next steps are?
Any advice would be gratefully received!
