Weird theory on why UX is much needed but first to disappear in this market

I can be wrong on this theory and this is just an open discussion so please don’t come for me 😂

The very job of UX, is to find gaps problems find out what we need to solve before actually going in and solving it. We cannot challenge decisions and assumptions in the current environment because that is what makes leadership feel unsafe they want very compliant people that agree with them, whereas the very job of UX is to find the gaps make something better for the end user.

The most needed job in history of the Internet is actually UX. It is the first that will disappear because leadership cannot recognize this because they are so focused on quick visual outputs from designers that don’t understand UX as well as from developers that don’t understand architecture.

Think about what it takes to get promoted if you’re too good in a role, they won’t move you up from there and I’m sure there are some places that don’t do this, but that’s the common thing.
Not rocking the boat being the least threatening all that stuff.
When UX goes into any organization the first thing we seen in any project is asking what are we developing and why are we developing it or designing it whatever the heck you wanna call it but most of the time we have to deal with leadership that doesn’t understand what UX actually does. We’ve been carrying the burden of business development without the title that comes with it.

Open discussion. Just my thoughts on a fine Thursday morning staring at my whiteboard 😔

Do animations improve UX, or just make websites look more interesting?

I recently built 5 pixel-inspired interactions for a portfolio website in Framer.

My goal wasn't just to make the website visually interesting, but to explore how motion could add personality, guide attention, and create a more memorable experience.

While designing these interactions, I kept coming back to one question:

How much animation is too much?

I'd love to hear your thoughts from a UX perspective. Do these interactions enhance the experience, or do they risk becoming distractions?

Is AI really taking designers job?

Everyone keeps saying AI is going to replace designers, or at least cut our workload in half. Honestly? I feel like my workload has actually increased—at least mentally.

Last week I was working on an onboarding flow. I gave the AI a solid brief, clear direction, and context. To its credit, it followed my direction and spat out a solution in seconds.

The problem? Within that single direction, there were at least 10 different ways to execute it.
Suddenly, my job wasn't designing the screens—it was auditing them. I had to sit there and constantly think through the why, what, and where to pick the actual best option for the company and our specific target audience. I was stuck in an exhausting loop of evaluating technical constraints, hidden assumptions, and business tradeoffs. AI executes in seconds, which is cool, but it has zero clue what to execute, what to leave out, and why.

Plus, it got me thinking: if non-design stakeholders start using AI to bypass us and push features straight to production, aren't they just going to tank their metrics and need designers to come back and fix the mess anyway?

Idk, am I missing something here? I only have about 1.5 years of experience, so I could easily be looking at this the wrong way. For those of you who have been in the industry longer—what is actually going on? Are you guys feeling this too, or am I just using AI wrong?

Thoughtful Design. Better Experiences. Smarter Digital Products.

My recommendation: Before posting this on Reddit or Behance, make sure the services you advertise match your current skills and portfolio. If you're still building your experience, describe yourself as an emerging UI/UX designer and showcase your concept projects honestly rather than claiming completed client work.

UX/Product Designers, how are you preparing for the changing job market?

Hello!
I have 5 years of experience as a Product Designer and am currently looking for a new role, but the job search has been challenging.

With the industry evolving so quickly, especially with AI, I sometimes wonder if I’m missing skills or if my portfolio and approach need to evolve.

For designers with similar experience, what are you focusing on right now to stay relevant and land a job? Are you learning AI, improving your portfolio, or working on something else?

Would really appreciate any honest advice from people navigating the same situation!
