I did a graduate certificate program online and it's been tough getting a hold of people for basic questions I have. First off for my advisor who was on summer break and then with the graduate studies office. They would reply to my emails then ignore them again. I had to message them multiple times. I am just trying to get my certificate since I finished my classes but I need them to approve me for graduation and it has been such a pain. It's like they don't want good graduation rates.

Took my final exam using respondus lockdown browser using an external webcam as I have previously. During my exam I got a message on the screen when I was waving my hand to swat a fly away. Boom I get done and submit and the respondus lockdown browser freezes. I stay on the screen that says don’t close for 5 mins and nothing happened. Professor emailed me and said I have a B in the class and accused me of not having my camera on during the exam and refuses to grade my essay portion so I’m stuck with a C on the exam. I explained what may of happened but you can’t take the test without the camera on but he kept emailing me essentially arguing with me. I passed the class but this is the second class I had with him and he’s a d*ck. And he’s my freaking advisor so it’s a lose lose with him.

Anyone active with the alumni network? I feel like the alumni network lacks with the school.

Hello everyone! My name is Chris and I do market research and we're doing some in-person focus groups for folks in and around Big Spring/Midland/Odessa- within an hour or so.
The group will be on Tuesday, August 4th from 6:30pm-8:00pm in the meeting rooms at a local hotel in Big Spring. And if you're selected and complete the group, you'll be paid $150 right after the group.
The topic is going to be on local issues, but no special knowledge is required, we're just looking to talk to locals.
If you'd be interested, here's a survey where we ask some qualification questions. If you qualify, someone will reach out with a phone call and confirm you from a 504 number since the company is based in New Orleans. We also do not and will never sell any of your data, even what you fill out on this form I linked. It's used purely to see if you qualify for the group and nothing else at all.
https://surveys.focusgrouphub.com/t/vi4bYPqn9Jus
Happy to answer any questions anyone has as well. I do focus groups like this all over the country and we're a legitimate market research company. No sales, nothing like that.
If you want to look more into the company, it's EmCee Research/New Orleans Perspectives. Feel free to google us or go to emceeresearch.com or neworleansperspectives.com

Hi everyone,
I am currently choosing on which program to attend. I have taken a couple of courses at UTPB that satisfy the requirements for the Certificate in Energy Business.
I currently work as an Energy Markets and Operations Analyst. I do a lot of work in energy procurement. I am looking to see if anyone is attending or has attended the MBA or Finance program. I would like to know what your experience was like.
Also, for any of those interested feel free to help me decide which program would best align with energy procurement.

Hey everyone, I’m a sophomore at Texas Tech looking for a room or sublease near UTPB in Odessa/Midland for the summer (mid-May to mid-August) since I’ll be there for an internship. I’m clean, responsible, non-smoker, and will be working most of the time. Open to roommates or any student housing options—feel free to DM me if you have something or know someone, thanks!

I wasn’t approved for any Financial Aid but I applied for several scholarships. How likely am I to get any aid? The page isn’t linked to MyUTPB and I can’t access it. I’ve emailed “Scholarships” but haven’t received much guidance at all. Anyone know when they’re supposed to be awarded? I was told mid to late December.

I was accepted into the online MBA in Finance program last year, but just starting my first class this August. Any other online MBA students just recently starting?

Hi guys. My advisor is telling me not all the upper level courses for my degree will be available for me to graduate in the next two calendar years. I looked online and only two of the upper level courses are actually available for Fall 2025 and she's not telling me when they may be available again. Does anyone have any experience with this? Did you have to delay your graduation date? thank you.

Hey, I’m an incoming CS major here just trying to get a better grip on how to navigate things classes, career prep, what to avoid, that kind of stuff or even if you just want to rant to about your time here. Any info that gives me a feel for this Uni I'll truly appreciate it. If any seniors or alumni are down to chat over text or even a quick voice call (like max an hour), whichever is more convenient, I’d really appreciate it. I’ll even throw in $50 via Zelle or CashApp as a thank you for your time.
Preferably looking to talk to someone who’s done well here, GPA-wise/research-wise or career-wise, but honestly any insight helps. Just trying to learn from someone who’s been through it. Shoot me a DM if you’re down, thanks. Also if you can show any proof of your time here (while of course maintaining anonymity) I'd also appreciate it.
Sorry to all the other non CSers just for the CS guys and gals out there.

Hi all. I am starting my first semester in Fall 2025 and my advisor has not been responding to my emails. I sent one each month for the past 3 months. I am asking if I have registered correctly and if there's anything I need to do. Classes start in August and if there's anyone else I can message to get some help it would be appreciated

I'm looking around at online MBAs and am impressed with the UTPB option. However, I've never been super strong in math. Is the coursework particularly math-heavy? About how many hours per week do you spend on coursework? I'm considering doing one 8-week course at a time

It gives me a pop-up but doesn’t do anything else.

My bachelors is a BAAS so overalll pretty useless.
Can anyone say how this is ? Was finding myself looking at a MS Finance and taking the extra energy classes but this also looks pretty finance heavy too.
Want to work in O&G Finance.
Considered UH but may don’t wanna take the GMAT.
Or get MS Finance and the Energy Business cert? Just wanna ensure I’m employable in finance but hoping to get into O&G. This would only be two extra courses if I can use some of my MS Finance courses on the cert too.

Hi guys! I’m considering applying here to take my BBA in finance. I’m actually taking college classes (cause it’s so much cheaper) but I’ll be done with all the classes needed (prior to transfer) this summer. I was looking for an online university that will give me a BBA in finance. Are there any scholarships (besides FASTA and student loans)? Is there an age limit for the scholarships? Thx ☺️

Hi has anyone done the cert program for teacher certification? Any feedback or info on it would be great. I got my bachelors through UTPB in spring of 2023 through their online program. I saw that their cert program is the most affordable option I’ve seen. I’m not local to Odessa, I’m in San Antonio, is this online ?

Anyone graduate from the ITECH program? What type of work are you doing?

Has anybody taken 8 week classes online for the BBA? My degree isn’t an online degree but I plan to take some online classes and it looks like most of them are 8 weeks as opposed to 16. Wondering if anybody has experience with these and was it a lot more time consuming? Is taking 2 8 week classes for each session (4 per semester) similar to taking 4 16 week classes?
