Questions Utest account Resurrection

Hi All 👋

Do you have any ideas/tips how can I make my Utest account active for the algoritm again?

Little about myself:

I was active user at 2020 and 2021, finished Academy practise cycles and work on paid ones too.

Then - I stopped testing on Utest anymore up to a week ago. I want back to this somehow but right now I receive only Surveys and not a single invitation. My rating is Rated right now.

If you have any tips let me know 🙂 really appreciate it for every comment 😊

Discussions Spending a few months in France - Location

Hi guys,

I am very new to UTest and I am a resident of Germany (Berlin). I haven't yet taken part in any projects, because I'm using the Academy to practice and develop my skills properly. I have recently been in France for over a month now, and plan on staying a few months longer to visit my Mum. The thing is, I haven't logged into UTest once since being here for fear that I would be banned immediately from using the platform, since now my location is different.

I absolutely do NOT use a VPN, let me make that very clear and of course I have no intention of doing so. I just wonder what my options are, because I would love to continue learning on the academy and using the platform and since I will be here indefinitely, or at the very least for a few more months, I want to know what my options are in that case. Am I able to log on and continue using it? Should I change my address to that of my Mums?

Thank you so much (and please forgive me if this is a really obvious question).

:)

Discussions Ainda vale a pena o UTEST em 2026? Dicas para iniciantes e potencial de ganhos

Fala, pessoal! Tudo bem?

Questions Delayed Test Case Approvals in Extended Test Cycles

I've been participating in a large test cycle with multiple assigned slots. It's been 13 days since I submitted my first test case, and all my submissions are still pending review.

The cycle has been extended, locked, and reopened several times, and it was locked again today.

Has anyone experienced similar delays in large or frequently extended cycles? I'd appreciate hearing how long approvals took in your experience.

Questions How to become DT or TTL

Hello, everyone!
I’m a tester on uTest Form 2023, and I have a good rating: “Gold-Silver "”
A couple of months ago, one of the TTEs sent me a message recommending that I become one of the favorite testers for a specific client. He asked for some information and wished me luck in making my way along this path, “which it was really nice of him.”
Anyway, I want to get more information on how to become a DT or TTL. Is it considered a really good source of income? As an SHM, I’m making good money right now, but if it’s possible to increase that, why not?
I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

Discussions Has anything changed on uTest in the last 3 years?

So, I used to be active on uTest 03 years ago, but I took a long break and haven't followed the platform during that time.

Back then, I had reached Gold rating in FN, LN, UX

For those who have been active recently: has anything changed significantly on uTest over the last 3 years?

I think that I used to earn way more back.

I've already participated in a few TCs and I think that there's something weird because I used to get invited for a lot more TCs.

Btw, I'm from Brazil.

Discussions They want me to sign an NDA that says they are sending me a device for testing. They're not.

I got selected for a test cycle and just got sent the NDA to sign. It says they are sending me a device to perform testing on, and I have to send it back at the end of the test cycle.

However, they are not sending me anything. They've already made me send screen recordings of me setting up my own device the way they need it for testing, they have made it abundantly clear I will be using my own device to test.

I'm worried I will sign the NDA and at the end of the test cycle, they will ask that I send them back a device I never received.

The NDA came from a no-reply address and I'm not sure who to talk to to clarify this. Has anyone had this situation before?

Questions New to uTest — How do beginners actually get projects and start earning?

Hi everyone,

I recently joined uTest and I’m completely new to crowdtesting. I’ve been exploring the platform, but I’m still a little confused about how beginners actually start getting projects and earning.

For those who have been working on uTest for a while:

How do you get your first testing project/test cycle?

Do I need to complete any courses or Academy tests before I start receiving invitations?

Are there any specific skills, devices, or profile details that increase the chances of getting projects?

How often do freshers usually receive invitations?

How does payment work? Do you get paid per bug, per test case, or depending on the project?

Roughly how much can a beginner realistically expect to earn in the beginning?

What should I focus on during my first few weeks to build a good rating/reputation?

Are there any common mistakes beginners should avoid?

I understand that earnings and invitations probably vary depending on location, devices, ratings, and available projects. I’m mainly trying to understand how the whole process works and what I should do to get started properly.

Any advice from experienced uTest testers would be really helpful. Thanks!

Questions Need advice: Is it legal to do online user testing/surveys for money as a student on a parent's visa?

Hey everyone,

I’m a 20-year-old university student living in the UAE, and my residency visa is sponsored by my parents. I'm trying to make a little bit of pocket money online (specifically through crowd-testing platforms like uTest, UserTesting, and some survey apps). I already have my accounts set up, but I’m totally stuck on the legality of it here.

I don't want to break any rules, but I'm getting a lot of conflicting information:

The University: I went to my uni to ask, but they said they can’t issue me a No Objection Certificate (NOC) because they don't sponsor my visa. They told me I just need an NOC from my parents.

Online searches: Some people online say I need a full-on Freelance License (which costs like 6,000 AED/year in Ajman), which completely defeats the purpose of making 50–100 Dirhams here and there on surveys.

MOHRE: I tried calling MOHRE to get an official answer, but navigating their automated phone system is a headache. It kept asking if I was an employee/working, and I didn't know how to answer properly since I'm just a student trying to do online micro-gigs.

My questions for anyone who has experience with this:

Do I actually need a 6,000 AED freelance license just to do uTest/UserTesting online?

If my parents sponsor me, is a written NOC from my dad/mom enough to legally receive small amounts of money online?

Has anyone here actively done uTest/UserTesting as a dependent student? How do you handle the legal/bank side of getting paid?

Any advice from fellow students or expats who have navigated this gray area would be hugely appreciated! Thanks!

Information How much do TTLs charge?

Can someone who works at uTest as a TTL explain how and who gives the order to access that position? And what is the remuneration like? Is it based on trials or is it a fixed amount?

Discussions Is there a place where uTest testers can safely discuss issues?

I see this subreddit is an option, but then I see - you can't mention this or that. Not exactly a place where you can discuss problems with a particular project or cycle. Do we just go insane?

Discussions Retained my Gold rating

I wrote a couple of days ago about how disappointed I was with the downgrading of my rating from Gold to Silver, even though I was actively participating in the test cycles.

Now I have regained my Gold rating after putting in some work with dedication and quality.

This is what I learned from my experience: the uTest rating algorithm is really fascinating, as it rewards your activities not only in relation to your previous activities, but rather in comparison with the whole community of testers. The other thing that I learned is don't be carried away when your rating goes up and up. You need to increase your activities by increasing your issue repros, responding to special requirement surveys, and claiming or declining test cycles rather than claiming them and not doing anything.

The other bonus thing that I would add is don't wait for the test case to be released. Rather, claim exploratory test cases and find valuable bugs. I got more valuable bugs when I stopped hunting test cases and started hunting bugs, which in return also resulted in more income. Finding more valuable bugs helps customers. When customers are happy, uTest is happy. When uTest is happy with your work, it rewards you with more opportunities, like becoming a TTL or even a TE.

Happy testing, and Happy New Year to my fellow Ethiopians and everyone else who is celebrating!

Discussions how are you testing integrations before your lovable app goes live?

genuinely curious what the flow looks like for most people here.

you build something with stripe or twilio or resend wired up, it looks right in the builder, maybe you click through it once... then you ship. and then prod surfaces the weird edge case. flaky webhook, card decline mid-flow, double charge on retry.

is there a verification step most people run before launch, or is it mostly ship and find out?

Support Account Lockout / Not Receiving Password Reset Email (Ticket open >3 weeks)

Hi everyone, I am currently locked out of my uTest account and am looking for some help escalating a support issue.

I am still actively receiving study and cycle invitations to my registered email address, but whenever I try to request a password reset link, the email never arrives (I have thoroughly checked my spam/all mail folders).

I opened a support ticket regarding this over 3 weeks ago but have not received a response or a tracking number. Because I am receiving project invites, I really want to get back to testing but am completely stuck. Could a community manager please help flag this for the team? I can provide my account email via PM. Thank you!

Discussions Don't waste your time here,if you are from India

I signed up for this in July. Went through all the academic courses. Participated and passed all 6 academic test cycles, even one extra 5th test cycle. And since then it's been 2 weeks, I am not getting invited in any paid test cycle. Feeling stupid for wasting my 2 months on this.

Discussions A noobie in need of advice (For Buy Now, Pay Later: Consumer Checkout Study)

I have recently joined utest and I would like to ask about a Buy Now, Pay Later: Consumer Checkout Study that I am thinking of joining. Long story short, should I? Is there a possibility of getting screwed over by this? Also, how big would a hypothetical purchase need to be?

This would be my first job on utest and I would like it to go well.

Also, also, any other general advice and what to look out for on utest overall would be appreciated.
