Bathroom Rant

What is going on in the men’s bathroom’s , I’ve never once wanted to post or respond to anything but it’s getting ridiculous. Like I feel as though you should have to start swiping your student id card to use them.

People are genuinely just trying to make them unusable to the point where you can smell them outside the bathrooms. Like is there something going on here. Is it the schools students unable to use them properly now following grow library.

I feel like I’m going crazy 🤣🤣🤣🤣

EDUC3606

is anybody doing EDUC3606 this semester and also thinks the course is horribly structured and the staff are useless (for a lack of a better word)? everyone i've spoken to have been struggling so hard, and any time we ask the staff for help they are so incredibly condescending, and their replies don't even answer our questions😭

Moving from an Australian MBBS to UQ MD — any options if happy to restart?

Moving from an Australian MBBS to UQ MD — any options if happy to restart?

Hi everyone, I already have a completed bachelor's degree and am currently studying an MBBS at an Australian university. I'm exploring whether it would be possible to move to UQ's MD after completing second year.

I need to relocate to Brisbane for personal reasons. I'd be happy to start the MD from the beginning, so getting credit for my previous medical studies isn't essential.

Has anyone here made a similar move, or knows someone who has? I'm particularly wondering whether UQ would consider a transfer or admission on compassionate grounds in this situation, or whether I'd need to go through the usual graduate-entry application process, including GAMSAT.

Does already having a degree and two years of medical study make any difference to the available pathways, especially if I'm willing to restart?

I'd appreciate any firsthand experiences or suggestions about which team at UQ handles these enquiries. Keeping some details general for privacy, but happy to clarify anything relevant. Thanks!

International MD admissions

Hey all, I’m an MPhil candidate at Bond and looking to do UQ medicine. I’m also an international student (American) and would like to try for the Oschner MD-PhD program.
I completed my BBmedSc with a 3.97 GPA (cumulative 89), So I believe this scales to a 7.0? My MCAT was only 509-511.

I have to make it past international UQ admissions for 2028 intake. I know the average MCAT score of UQ students is 509 but I’m so worried my MCAT won’t be competitive enough. Are there any other international UQ MD students who have advice for me?

I built a site that puts every UQ event in one place (and course reviews too)

2nd year at UniMelb here. Info about uni is scattered everywhere, so every time I had to dig through a bunch of different sites, and Rate My Professors barely covers Australia. So I built this: uq.talkwalll.com (also an app: TalkWall)

It’s collected 380+ events and 12,000+ reviews so far, rated course/professor on usefulness, difficulty and whether people would take it again. You can also filter events by your major or interests, so you only see the ones that matter to you.

It’s free, with no ads, and I made auto translate so international students can be part of the community as well.

Chances of getting into UQ Res Walcott St with a waitlist number over 1000?

Hi everyone!

I’m currently on the waitlist for UQ Res, and my waitlist number is somewhere in the 1000s.

I’m really hoping to get a place at Walcott St for the February 2027 intake. I’ve found a few people offering lease transfers, but they’re all looking to move out in November, which is too early for me.

I was wondering if I realistically have a chance of getting a room through the normal application/waitlist process without taking over someone’s lease.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or managed to get into Walcott St with such a high waitlist number? Any advice or experiences would be really appreciated!

Thanks!

Roblox anatomy program

Hi,
I feel like I stumbled upon a gold mine on Roblox of all places.

It’s called anatomy 3D by marclutter_5 .
It is amazing, it seems fairly accurate too and better than programs that I’ve payed $100s for. It even shows movement and tests. Omg guys there’s pin tests.

I hope anyone doing an anatomy course this semester or next takes advantage of this program. It’s genuinely one of the better anatomy programs and it’s free and on Roblox??

Good luck all my med/premed/crazy people who think anatomy’s fun

Advice!

Im an international Student.

So I applied to both UQ and QUT for the bachelor of engineering(Mechanical) , I got my full offer to QUT with a 25% scholarship and UQ on the other hand I got my conditional offer letter and haven't been offered any scholarship of any sort.

The conditions for the UQ offer letter were, get the minimum gpa of 10.5 which I have 13 for and an IELTS score of 6.5 which I got 8.5 for. I submitted my IELTS to UQ as well as my Edexcel IAL Candidate statement of provincial results (CSPR). They accepted the CSPR but want me to basically pay edexcel 34 pounds for a service which sends the CSPR directly to them via email.

Before I do pay the 34 pounds I wanted to know, is the chances of me getting a 25% scholarship to UQ good or bad. I also wanted to know is there a significant difference and advantages of going to UQ over QUT.

My goal is to somehow enter the mining industry by following a career in mechanical engineering rather than mining engineering.

Thank You in Advance.

Study Tips for MECH2700

Hi all!

For anyone who has taken MECH2700 in the past, what’s the best way to study for the final? I’m horrible at coding and cannot understand the lectures/quizzes for the life of me. I’m also just confused on how to start my study. For other mech courses, it’s simply just spamming practice questions but for 2700 I lowkey can’t. I know it’s my fault that I’ve kinda been putting this course on the back burner as well.

I’m just needing to get the 40% hurdle. So, any study advice for someone who has no idea what’s going on?

UQ Vet or Griffith Med?? - One Week to decide my future

Hey everyone,

I’m an international student who recently received two amazing but honestly overwhelming offers from Australia this past week:

  1. Griffith University: Bachelor of Medical Science + Doctor of Medicine (MD) — offer valid for only 10 days (deadline: Oct 22)
  2. University of Queensland (UQ): Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Hons) (BVSc)

I’m extremely torn and running out of time to make a decision. I’d really appreciate insights from anyone who has gone through either program, applying to those programs, especially as an international student.

A few of my biggest concerns:

  • PGY1 internship: My biggest concern with the Griffith MD pathway is getting a PGY1 internship after graduation as an international student. Since international graduates are lower priority (Group 3) for Queensland Health internship allocation, how difficult is it actually to secure a position? Do international graduates from Queensland medical schools generally get internships, or do some end up missing out or needing to look further away?
  • GPA & fail rates: How manageable is the workload and grading at Griffith Med vs UQ Vet? I’ve seen posts from UQ Vet students talking about how intense it can be to maintain a good average and avoid failing courses. Is Griffith BMedSci similarly intense?
  • Career flexibility & working overseas: I’m also thinking about eventually returning to Canada/US. My understanding is that UQ Vet has an established pathway for North American graduates through exams such as the NAVLE, whereas practicing medicine internationally can involve much more complicated licensing, matching, and residency requirements.

I genuinely want to become a human doctor, but the potential visa/internship barriers and longer timeline make me nervous about making the wrong decision. At the same time, I really like UQ Vet and the career path seems much more straightforward after graduation.

Going into this without knowing anyone in Australia makes the decision even more overwhelming 😭

If anyone is currently studying/enrolled/graduated from Griffith or UQ, or any international graduate working in Queensland/overseas that had similar experience, I would be more than willing to hear from your suggestion and first hand advice!

Just a note that my Griffith offer expires on October 22, so I really need to decide soon. Thank you!!!

Grad roles

It’s been half a year… I have applied to 300 roles and have gotten 0 interviews. I’ll be honest I had bad grades in uni only scrapping by with a 73 CWAM. I’ve climbed up the ranks in Hospitality and am currently an assistant manager making 80k a year but I just don’t know how to break into the field (commerce-fin&econ majors).
