I am planning on transferring to UMD with a major in finance. I submitted my early action application for spring 2027 semester and would be entering as a sophomore. I attending the Catholic University of America as an honors student majoring in finance, and participated in some extracurriculars including a sales team that worked to fundraise money for the business school. I ended my freshman year with around a 3.34 GPA, and don’t yet have 45 credits, so I will go under competitive review once I submit my transcript after this semester showing I have 45 credits. I am now at a Maryland community college that offers the Maryland Transfer Advantage Program (MTAP). I also had really good letters of recommendation, and believe my essay was really good as well. I am applying as a finance major, but I was thinking of changing to economics, a non LEP so I don’t waste my one shot at applying to an LEP since I don’t think my odds are that good right now. Should I switch my major to economics and enter in the spring at UMD and try to apply into the business school in fall of 2027, or stay at my Maryland Community College to get the MTAP qualification which could also increase chances, then transfer from community to UMD and into the business school. What’s my best bet to get in?

I am apply to UMD Early Action, and I requested my ACT score that I took months ago to be sent to UMD pretty recently, but I am worried if the university will get the score in time. UMD states on their website that "Standardized test scores can take several weeks to process and be received by our office."
However, they also say that "It may take up to 10 business days for recently submitted materials to be listed as received on your checklist."
Do any of yall know how UMD determines whether an ACT score is submitted on time? Is it when the ACT testing agency sends the score over, or when UMD finishes processing the score and links it to your application?
My brain is so fried right now, I genuinely can't think. I've practically forgotten how to do content from before break, and the content that I do know, I'm barely able to do it correctly or it takes me 30-years to retrace my steps and figure out what's going on.

Hi guys! I’m researching club accessibility for UMD commuters. If you hold a leadership position in a club or know someone who does, I’d really appreciate it if you could fill out or share this short survey. Thank you!

For context, I changed my major/ took a gap year because of health reasons which caused me to delay my degree. I’m 23 and I transferred like a year ago and ever since then I’ve honestly been counting the days until I graduate. Since most of my friends graduated already, I’ve been trying to step out of my comfort zone and make new friends but haven’t really had any luck. I’ve tried joining new clubs and it doesn’t seem like any one is open to making friends and is just there for obligation. I’ve tried talking to people in class and it’s very surface level interactions. It genuinely seems like anywhere I go people are unwelcoming or stand offish😭😭. It’s very alarming to me considering only a couple years ago when visiting my friends it seemed like people were much friendly and welcoming. I’ve literally been outright ignored or denied from activities here or given weird looks for just joining meetings. It’s honestly been making me really depressed and I’ve had to seek out counseling a couple times. I’m not sure if it’s just me or if anyone else is experiencing this but I’m finding it very difficult to enjoy my time here.

I made CanvasGradesPro a while ago because I got tired of calculating my grades manually. Some of my courses didn't have assignment weights set up in Canvas, and others hid the overall grade entirely, so it was hard to tell where I stood.
The extension adds a few things to Canvas:
If you run into any bugs or have suggestions, let me know!

anyone got advice 😊. The projects are killing me quite a bit because of literally 0 test cases and (imo bad specs)? so it's kinda hard dealing with every edge case but its probably a skill issue on my part but i've gotten a 50% on my second project (5% of my grade) and probably failed my first exam.....................
I think I can probably make an academic comeback since I'm done recruiting, but this genuinely the first time i'm struggling in a cs course here

A new University of Maryland Recreation and Wellness policy will require club sports teams to receive written approval from professional staff before sharing any external communication, according to an email sent to teams on Wednesday.
Phoebe Murphy, RecWell’s club sports and camps coordinator, notified team leaders of the policy change Wednesday afternoon in an email obtained by The Diamondback. The announcement comes days after the university indefinitely suspended the club tennis team after members emailed “racist imagery” to other collegiate teams in the region prior to its fall tournament in College Park, The Diamondback reported Monday.
The graphic distributed by the club tennis team depicted Ku Klux Klan hoods, including eye holes, in the lower left and top right portions of the Maryland flag, according to a Tuesday morning social media post from the Howard University Tennis Club, one of the teams that received the graphic.
In a follow-up email sent to teams Wednesday evening, Murphy said the types of information that now require approval include emails, social media posts, team programs, documents, flyers or other attachments. Club sports teams must submit any external communication they wish to share with individuals or organizations not affiliated with the university for approval by professional staff at least 48 hours before its intended distribution.
Each team’s president and treasurer are also required to sign a form acknowledging the policy change by 11:59 p.m. Friday, according to Murphy’s email. There are no exceptions to the policy, she added, and violations could potentially lead to “all club sports activities and events” being cancelled.

I've been looking for cybersecurity research all over campus as well as on LinkedIn and other platforms, but I genuinely can't find anything. I did email a variety of professors (whom I don't know), who are doing research. I did look over their research and emailed them about what I liked about it and if I could become a part of it. No one responded. I'm not sure what to do. I'm looking for research before next semester starts that could carry over into the next semester.

I purchased a brick to be installed in the Reeve Reading Garden and was wondering if someone passing by might be able to take a photo of it for me? I live out of state & it’s my Christmas gift to my family in honor of my late sister. It would mean the world to me <3
It does not have the testudo logo on it. It says these lines
How wonderful
Life is
While you’re
In the world

Hey everyone! I’m a student at the University of Maryland planning a social innovation project for a class (PLCY 310). The next step of our semester long project has us create and analyze a survey to learn about public input on the feasibility and logistics of our program idea. It would be greatly appreciated if you could take few minutes of your time to fill out this survey. Everything will be kept anonymous. Thanks! Happy Homecoming week!
