I was out on a walk at the weekend with the wife and dog in Foots Cray Meadows at the weekend and I found the below coin 🪙.

Fairly corroded King George V, One Penny from 1919. Nice to be able to fin a piece of history.

The Gibraltar 20p is my top pick, very lustrous. It might be about a year since I last got an alphabet 10p, unfortunately it’s a duplicate, so still on 24/26 for 2018. And I wish I could find more 1/2 Swiss Francs masquerading as 5p’s

Here's George III dressed as Neptune, riding a chariot pulled by two hippocampi across the ocean. Work that one out...

It's a Barbados penny token from 1792, issued by Sir Philip Gibbes, a sugar plantation owner.

The other side depicts a crowned African figure with the words "I SERVE" beneath it. A rather sobering reminder of the island's plantation economy and its reliance on enslaved African labour.

Can any explain what is under the chin of Queen? Is it variety or error?

Been doing some tidying up and came across my childhood coin collection! I'll be honest, I never did any research into them whatsoever, and I've been a lurker on this sub for a while so I thought I'd throw it your way to see if anyone can enlighten me on to exactly what I have here?

Aside from some surface level facts like the large 5 pence coins being the replacement for the shilling, I don't know nearly as much as I would like. So really, feel free to stretch your coin knowledge chops if you feel so inclined!

Hello i am wondering if anyone would be able to help me id a possible error on a 2025 £1 bee coin ? I think potentially the security text is bleeding over the inner rim.

Two of my elderly relatives recently passed and left us vast quantities of things to sort through.

So I have decided to dispose of some of the UK coins I collected as a child in the 1960's so my heirs do not have to go through them.

A 1919 KN penny was pretty special to me then, but would people want it now?

I have already pulled any key dates and silver coins out.

I don't like the idea of putting 118 George V pennies in the melt pile.

What have others done in this situation?

Hi all, long time lurker and first time poster on this subreddit. I just found this weird looking 5p coin and can just about see a little "5" marked on one side. On the other side I can make out a silhouette of Queen Elizabeth with the writing "Elizabeth" on her left. The coin is not smooth at all and looks like its fused with different metals. There's a square little stamp on the side where the "5" is written.

Is this worth anything or is this just plain wear and tear?
