I think someone stole my wallet

im a freshman and Im pretty sure my wallet was stolen.. what do i do?! does this happen commonly on this campus? please help 😭😭

im actually so sad wtf :(

Can you provide like any more details? Where were you? Was it in something or sitting out in the open? Did you report it to campus security? Is there any chance it’s in the pants you wore yesterday or under your car seat or something?

I remember it being in my lunch bag before I went to the library... but the bag was open and the wallet was at the top. I sat in the addition area and I cant remember if I had fallen asleep or not.. i sat at one of the window tables with 4 seats. I check my pants, bags, hoodie pockets and the car but no luck

thefts aren’t too common on campus, except for probably bikes. next time keep your wallet in your pockets so it is at least on your person and harder to steal. the library should have a lost and found, you can check today between 8-5PM.

if you have a high suspicion your wallet was stolen, cancel your cards immediately. unfortunately, if you dorm or use your student ID often, you will have to replace those and may have to pay fines/money. if you are already on campus, you will want to replace all those ASAP/in the same day.

however, it might also help to retrace your steps and think of all the places you were that day. go to the lost and founds for all the places you went to on campus. it might also be at home. did you use your wallet that day for anything?

I retraced my steps but still no luck, asked the guy at the library counter if anyone turned a wallet in, they didn't have anything... i remember having it before i entered the library and I didn't have it when I was driving home

Talk to an employee there, and then try Public Safety if you need to

Theft is very common on campus, so I definitely wouldn't rule out it being theft. If you searched your persons, bags, or other places you would've left it and you didn't find it, I would go to lost and found or contact public safety (I gave them a debit card I once found on the ground and they give it to lost and found), and if not, I would either contact your bank/credit card company, or cancel any cards and have them re-issue you one
