Housing
What should I be weary of / know about housing as an incoming freshman in spring how likely is that I won’t get chosen for housing ?

I live in Hale Laulima right now. It's nice and quiet but is close to a vegetation area which is a perfect roach breeding ground. Buildings exposed, and is the oldest. Washers and dryers suck here too. Try getting Frear Hall as much as you can but I heard it has mold issues too.
I have friends who are freshmen, and me too and they were able to get frear hall as it was their first choice. I had a tower as my first choice tho but ended with laulima, prob cuz i submitted late. Just submit as fast as possible.

Apply for student housing. If you don’t get in, be prepared with information about the alternatives. My son is at Hale Haukani. Last year he was at Frear Hall. Both had pros and cons but overall he’s happy to be at UH. Monitor the Facebook Groups for parents and students. I see a lot of people looking for someone to takeover a lease at Rise, Haukani and Mahana.
Don’t be wary, just gather backup info on available spots at the places closest to campus. It will be fine.

I would start exploring other options. It’s hard to say how many spots will open up for spring. A lot of freshman dropout after the first semester but it’s probably not enough for everyone who wants a spot to get one. There’s obviously less spots than if you were incoming in the fall.
Also depending on where you’re coming from gives you housing priority.
It goes neighbor island residents -> Oahu residents outside commuting zone -> Mainland & international -> Oahu residents inside commuting zone
