Yeah, waiting til the last minute.
But I used the broker connect tool to connect all of my brokerages. Every single 1099-B was flagged in an infinite "needs review" stage, and per Turbotax support, I used "federal review" to trigger the real error validation.
Instead, it just deleted every sale I had, including those that I had hand corrected/entered.
Then it kicks back to federal review saying the sales (which it deleted!!) don't add up to the summary values.
And the "Ask AI" is entirely useless, seems it can't even read your tax return to give you real data, it's a glorified navigational aid.

I’m self employed and also have a W2 from a part time job. I’ve been doing my own taxes with TT for 20 years with no problems. It’s the simplest return, no help needed. Somehow when I hit “file” I was charged over $200 and for Expert Assist that I didn’t sign up for and didn’t use. I can’t clear the return and start over. I closed the window then signed in later and it’s now offering a downgrade (which wasn’t available earlier) but now that I finally am seeing the different levels, it looks like the premium is the only level for self employed. Is this new? I’ve never paid for this level.
So the question is: can I abandon this return even tho I hit file, and just go to Freefile and redo it there? What happens if I don’t complete the filing at TT by not paying them? I know they won’t send the return without payment but will they be coming after me for it? Thanks.

CONTEXT: I’ve lived in Indiana most my life, and Texas for the last 3 years, so my Birth Certificate came from the State of Indiana.
Hello I’ve been having issues filing my income tax for the 2025 year and ask for your insights. I used Turbo Tax to file my Income Tax for the first time ever, and everything went smoothly until I got an email saying it was rejected due to my Birth Certificate having the incorrect Date Of Birth.
I proceed to check my Birth Certificate and notice that not only is the DOB incorrect by 2 days, but my first name is misspelled as well (to this day I don’t know how I was able to have my Taxes filed successfully without this being an issue in the prior years I worked in my home state) and was told by the Social Security Administration I need a Birth Certificate that was unlamented in order to successfully change the Name and DOB of my Birth Certificate in Texas, and that VitalCheck is the official company to do it through.
It’s been months and although my order for the Birth Certificate has been received, the Indiana Department of Health still hasn’t responded to Vital Check, and VitalCheck has sent more than one request. What should I do?

These (highlighted) are the only amounts shown. I only get a “subtotal,” no actual total. The rest of the page is just for payment info and then “confirm payment”.

I had already filed back in April of this year. I went on the app and it said I needed to finish filing which I thought was weird, but since it's the IRS I was like ok well I'll just finish then. I should've checked my bank transactions after the fact because after I filed I immediately got sent a rejection email saying the IRS had already received my 2025 taxes. So now I'm out $160 dollars. I filed a refund request form online explaining everything as clearly as I could. Do I have a chance to get refunded from TurboTax?

I have been trying to file for a symbolic payment I received in PA as a self-employed music performer (under $300) on Turbotax. It turns out, there is nowhere to just enter "I made $300", and call it a day. It goes through an entire process of putting in my entire gross sales and receipts from my federal form as my Taxable income in PA. I've looked around and this has been an issue mentioned in forums since 6 YEARS ago. I don't know what to do. I've been going in circles. I can't afford to pay $200 for "expert help" when I'm supposed to pay like less than $25 in taxes for this. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, how did you solve it?
SOLUTION: TALKED TO PA DEPT OF REVENUE AND THEY SAID THEY DO NOT RECOMMEND TURBOTAX FOR SELF-EMPLOYED ARTISTS WITH BUSINESS MOSTLY OUTSIDE PA, TO JUST FILE ON PAPER!

I want to do tax preparation. Did the tax level 1 and tax preparation courses. Talked with a turbo tax recruiter. He talked about getting me in a remote tax specialist role. I remembered after the call of people wanting to do tax prep, going with intuit but the role wasn't tax prep but customer service. I want to be sure that the tax specialist role is a tax preparation job. The recruiter did ask if I had a PTIN.

I'm taking the Intuit Academy course on Tax 1(and probably Tax 2 afterwards). It's pretty simple and straight forward just listening to and learning the course. If I wanna get an entry tax job like tax preparer or tax associate, is it better to also take the Intuit exam and earn the "badge" or just simple finish the Intuit Academy courses and that's it?

Does anyone know about what month they start offering this again for the new tax year?

FOR 2027 SET YOUR AUTOMATIC MACOS UPDATES TO "OFF"!
As October 15th gets closer, the Extension crowd is scrambling to finish their extended tax filings using TT Desktop, some of you may have noticed the warning about future incompatibility.
MacOS will be dropping Rosetta support in the Fall of 2027. If you mistakenly update your MacOS before finishing your 2026 taxes on your ONLY HOME COMPUTER, you may lose the ability to finish your taxes.
Not sure if Intuit is even planning on releasing a fully Apple Silicon version of TT Desktop. This is the year NOT to trade-in your old hardware and keep it until you know everything works on a new computer.

Yes, I know I am late...don't get old. I did the searches here and on line and AI. TT did come out with a statement that 2025 would work with Win 10. The web page only says Win 11.
I know I need to do Win 11 but don't want to do it when I am already late.
What say YE Masters, will it run on 10?
What about Home and Business 2025?

I've been using TTP 2025 and just wanted to go e-file my taxes today and there was an update which I installed. Lo and behold, now everything I do, the screen refreshes and sends me back to the "Welcome Back" screen and refreshes my state and federal amounts. I've tried deleting it, emptying my trash, restarting downloading a brand new version from the intuit site but it keeps doing it. I've cleared my app cache, and everything. I called support and it seems like my brain is going through a reset explaining this to the person who is attempting to help.
Has anyone run into this issue? And more importantly have you found a solution? This is driving me cray cray!
edit1: I was on hold for 10 mins to speak to someone, spent 25 mins trying to explain the same thing multiple times and when I asked to be transferred to the next level, I got put on hold and then hung up on.
edit2: initially I thought it was due to switching to another app (when I needed to copy details, etc but even when just staying on TT desktop app, it just refreshes randomly.

I am not sure if this is proof or coincidence, but today I got hit with a fraudulent debit/ACH whose description was: ACH HOLD WEBFILE TAX PYMT DD.
Last week I had gotten my state refund and was expecting the federal soon as well. My first thought seeing this is Intuit had a breach. I am curious if anyone else that used a direct deposit for their refund(s) has seen this description on the debit. I think I caught it quick enough and got the bank to put a stop payment on it, but I've basically got to wait and see.

Amendment accepted by Illinois in June, still nothing now that it's Oct. What's the tip for getting around 4k back that I'm owed? They had me pay the tax from my original filing and crickets since then.
Thanks ya'll

I use the Business version for a Form 1041 and was on a support call and couldn't evoke the screen sharing code to give to customer service. I also use the Home and Business version (for 1040) filers. With the latter version I was able to generate a code .
Can someone who uses the Business version open the program then hit Shift Enter on thier keyboard to see if anything generates?
I just want to confirm that this feature is not available on the Business version. Thank you!

I have to amend my 2024 & 2025 taxes. I receive a pension from NYS as a retired Police Officer, and it was retroactively reclassified to tax-free line-of-duty injury pension. My original 1099-R distribution code (box 7) was 2 for a pension. NYS sent me two new 1099-R forms for each of the years with the correction boxes checked. The first was a new one for distribution code 2 with all zeroes for the amounts (which according to my research "cancels" out the original 1099-R). The second 1099-R was for distribution code 3 (disability). When I enter both of these into TurboTax, TT doesn't like the 0 for the corrected distribution code 2 1099-R and gives an error.
Can I force this through with the 0 as the amount? TurboTax doesn't seem to allow e-filing a 2024 amendment and told me I have to print and mail it, which I'm able to do with the error. It will let me e-file the 2025 amendment though. Will the IRS kick this back with the zero, or will they process it since it does match my 1099-R?
Or should I enter $0.50 like it suggests? Will that cause it to be kicked back since that doesn't match my 1099-R?
Thank you

I’m confused as to why this is incorrect. RMD’s begin at age 73/75 so wouldn’t D be considered a “correct statement”?

Hi, anyone did intuit tax preparation course and got a job after that?
I’ve been wanting to work as a remote contractor full time/part time. I’ve completed intuit tax preparation course and planning to start level 1.
I was wondering if intuit actually gives you seasonal role where I can assist in taxes.
Do they have any additional verification process after completing the course?

I just did my second try at Tax Level 1 and almost passed. I really don't like Intuit's method of exams being 1 hr 30 mins for 50 questions that we need time to research. I did study, but still.
I'll have to retake it again in 15 days. Does anyone have any tips or better notes as opposed to the course they provided, which is not all covered by the exam?
Any advice and/or tips is greatly appreciated.
