Discussion 2026 Election Megathread
This discussion thread is to provide a single place to talk about all of the various TUCSON ballot propositions and candidates. Please try to keep the discussion limited to initiatives and candidates IN TUCSON and Pima county. If you'd like to discuss state wide ballot items please see the Arizona 2026 Proposition + Election Discussion.
Here are some links you might find useful:
Summary of Tucson ballot measures
List of local Candidates and ballot measures (AZ Clean Elections)
Pima County's only ballot initiative)
Information on judges (Gavel Watch)
If you have other links or info, leave them in the comments. We may add them to the original post.
Keep in mind that personal attacks on other users will result in a ban. You're welcome to call Democrat or Republican leaders/candidates idiots, but you may NOT call other redditors idiots. The purpose of this thread to to create a civil space to discuss the elections and trolls, fear mongering, or comments that offer little or no value will be removed.
Above all VOTE!

Happy October, Tucson! Here's a live map of local Halloween events (let me know what to add!)
Happy October!
I put together a live map of the Halloween events happening around Tucson this month. I'm still adding to it as I find more, so if you know of something that should be on there, drop it below and I'll pin it to the map for everyone.
A few that are on my own list that I think look exciting:
Witches Night Market — Friday, Oct 9 — Free night market with a witchy theme, local vendors.
Monster Mash at Golf N' Stuff — Saturday, Oct 10 — Costume contest and Halloween market out at the mini golf place.
2026 Tucson Terror Fest — Thursday, Oct 15 - 18 — A straight-up horror film festival, didn't expect to find one of these.
Boo at the Zoo at Reid Park Zoo — Thursday, Oct 22 - 25 — Never been but what I hear is a Tucson classic.
Movie Night in the Park – Hocus Pocus — Saturday, Oct 24 — I think this will make an excellent date night, I just need to find a date.
Trick-or-Treat the Avenue — Sunday, Oct 25 — The 4th Ave version, always packed with vendors and costumes.
You can check out the live map here: Tucson Halloween events Map
I'm going to keep building this out all month, so check back if you're looking for something later in October too.
Edit: Sorry about the AI Picture. Never Again.

Be safe downtown
I’m using a burner account, because duh. I was trying to walk somewhere last night downtown to go meet up with a friend when I passed by the Plaza Centro station. A man left the street car and started yelling to complain that the street car service was being stopped for the evening. I was walking away and he followed me. When I got to the underpass going north on 4th Avenue he started sprinting at me and he was yelling “Bitch, I’m going to fucking kill you.” As I started running away two young men helped me by stopping the man and escorting me where I needed to go. I just wanted to put this message out into Reddit so that people who travel alone are aware that the crazies are out here.
I’m not trying to stir fear. This has been the only time in 2+ years living downtown that I’ve felt unsafe walking by myself as a single woman. Keep your head on a swivel, folks.
Edit: I’m going to log off after this. I DO NOT want to own a gun. As soon as I do, those within my immediate circle have a statistically more likely chance of dying due to gun violence. I do not want to own a gun because I do not want the weight of another gun death weighing on my conscience. Lastly, not that it’s anyone’s fucking business, I have had periods of time in my life when I’ve struggled with self-harm. Do not ask me to put a gun in my home.

Deportan a dos hombres sordos de Hermosillo que visitaban Tucson con visa de turista vigente/Two deaf men from Hermosillo who were visiting Tucson on valid tourist visas have been deported.
Here's the news article, from a Credible News Source, about the two deaf/mute tourists who were detained by Border Patrol in Tucson and deported to Hermosillo. The author is preparing a translation. If you don't want to wait, and don't read Spanish, I think you can figure out how to translate. I use Google Translate.

Tattoo cover ups
There is a post similar to this but I was wondering if there’s anything new since that one was a year old. I wanna do a cover-up from somewhere around my wrist to shoulder and it’ll probably be half blackout cause my current tattoo is a bit random.
So does anyone know someone who would do a darker kind of tattoo that’s not outrageously expensive… like around 150 or less for an hour?

TEP REALLY Going Overboard w/ Attempts to Get 421 Passed
Between the constant ads on broadcast & streaming media threatening us to vote yes and the NO LESS than FOUR giant flyers in my postal mail DAILY, they must be spending a massive amount of $ on this. I can only assume they know Tucson citizens are pissed with them & they are terrified of any accountability.

Medicare Advantage
There is no sub for Pima County so Tucson is closest. Since Medicare advantage plans are county based, for those on medicare, did you use a trusted broker or the Arizona SHIP or just the Medicare site find a plan webpage?
If a broker who was that?

Fascinating documentary about Tucson's (water) history
Just watched this video on the history of Tucson's growth, mainly from a water perspective.
I could have sworn I saw it here but just searched and didn't see anybody post it. If someone did, I'm sorry. An hour after I started watching I couldn't remember if I saw it on Reddit or my YouTube feed.
I only knew tiny snippets of history of Tucson that are described at length here. Hope you enjoy it.

Vet recommendations?
I have a dog with high blood pressure. The current vet I see wants to see him every two months to check blood pressure. First question is if its common to have to get checked this frequently? And second are there vets that will prescribe BP medication without having to check so frequently?

This lil canyon bat
Almost didn't notice it was an animal, I thought there was a stain on the wall I needed to clean up. Tucson nature always amazes me!

Vegan Recs other than Tumerico?
My partner and I are in Tucson for a few weeks, and would love some vegan recs from the people! We’ve already been to Tumerico a few times (and LOVE it), tried el charro, midtown deli, golden house. What’s your favorite?? Thank you!!
(My partner is not vegan, so fully vegan menu doesn’t need to apply)
Edit to add** would also smack down on some food trucks with vegan options!

Dear Grant Rd.,
Will you please just hurry up and get the construction finished?! The roads have been paved for a month or so and it has been looking great. But I drive you every day to see what kind of progress is being made and it seems like all the construction crews have packed up and left without finishing the punch list. The traffic lights and some landscaping are all that seem to be left. But nobody’s been working on those ☹️
Driving inches from the curb and around traffic cones has taken its toll on me and all the other drivers that have to use you, and it’s time to just get finished, please. I know that big projects take time but please do all the cross-town travelers and local businesses a huge favor and just get done.
Sincerely,
A Tucson Driver That Just Wants To Drive Uninterrupted On Grant

Mail in ballots
Has anyone not received theirs yet? Saw they were mailed on October 7 but thought I would have gotten mine by now.
