Please Read The Rules
Read The Rules App
This community has the Read The Rules app installed. Old Reddit doesn't support apps so please open the post in new reddit for full functionality. If that's not possible, please Read The Rules and then follow the instructions at the bottom of the post.
Rule #1 Read the posted article
All users are required to read the entire posted article prior to posting, voting, reporting or commenting. This is not a subreddit for discussing headlines. Stay on topic.
Rule #2 Be Polite
Have great discussions, but follow reddiquette.
Commentary that is incendiary, name-calling, hateful, negatively targets a specific group based on specific characteristic they have no control over (ex. Bigotry, ageism, ableism etc) or consists of a direct attack is not allowed and may be removed.
Rule #3 Only High-Quality Comments
If you’re not open to or engaging in intelligent discussion, go somewhere else. Address the argument, but not the user, the mods, the rules, or the sub.
Posting commentary that is irrelevant, meta, trolling, engaging in flame wars, unproven accusations of AI slop, and otherwise low-quality is not allowed and may be removed.
Rule #4 This is not an echo chamber
TrueReddit comments should be focused on insightful, high-quality discussion, not echo chamber, hive-mind, or pile-ons. Do not make comments that share a common, repetitive take on a universal issue without any new ideas. Don't derail discussions into general complaints or calls to action, and don't engage in political groupthink or repeat obvious points.
Rule #5 Only High-Quality Articles
Submissions should be a great read above anything else, and preferably long form articles. We do not allow text posts, and prefer you not post your own content.
Short, non-insightful, non-text-based, unpopular, or otherwise low-quality posts, or recent reposts may be removed.
Also, don’t submit breaking news, especially not to start a contentious debate.
Rule #6 Only Unedited Post Titles
Submissions should be titled according to the following or the post may be removed.
Titles should contain: the entire main title OR the entire subtitle OR the entire auto-generated page title (with publication or section name removed, if it exists) of the link.
Titles should NOT contain: a mixture of various titles/subtitles/quotes, a quote/excerpt, the publication name, any additional context, or any edits.
Rule #7 Submission Statements Are REQUIRED
Immediately post a submission statement in the comments according to the following or the post may be removed.
Submission statements should be: a 2+ sentence comment in reply to the post, in your own words, and a description of exactly why the post is relevant and insightful.
Submission statements should not be: mainly a summary of the article or mainly a quote/excerpt (and where a quote/excerpt exists, the limit is 2 sentences maximum).
Rule #8 This is Spam
This is spammy content, designed solely or primarily to promote content associated with the OP unless OP is a qualified news organization posting articles from their official news site using their official Reddit account.
Rule #9 Moderator discretion
Moderators have the option to ban users at their discretion for any reason. Blocking moderators of the community may result in an immediate ban.
Thank you for reading the rules! Before submitting posts you will need to submit an acknowledgment. Please visit the full post and click the button at the bottom. Alternatively, you may submit an acknowledgment by sending a mod mail to the sub. The mod mail will need to have the subject "Read The Rules" and the body should be "Acknowledged". This will automatically submit an acknowledgment on your behalf without any moderator intervention. Mod Mail
