Trine: Steam or GOG?

So I'm considering purchasing the 2ht and the 4th games (I read they're the best one ones in the series) and I'm debating between Steam (multiplayer, patches, etc), or GOG (full ownership).

What's your experience/opinion on this?

I always choose GOG, multiplayer and patches should not be a problem anyway.

GoG is like Steam but without DRM which means games you purchase are truly yours

GOG all the way, even if the game is more expensive.

I already have them on Steam, but I really like GOG's philosophy. Ownership is becoming a bigger and bigger issue anymore, so I'd have to vote for them. The game doesn't really need the patches, in my experience. And I thought you could still do local multiplayer with GOG anyway?
