Livestock Farm workforce not increasing despite passenger throughput.

I'm probably going to fail this subsidy, because for I'm not sure why there is no workforce despite passenger throughput. I've used this method for other industries and cities and it's worked without a hitch, so I'm totally at a loss as to what's happening. Anybody have any ideas?

Question What is your preferred map size/town density setup?

This is my first transport fever and I have done a few tiny and small maps.

I was wondering what was everyone's go-to? So far my limit has been 4 towns, as I feel like my entire map gets so complicated with that many lines running when I try to satisfy every town. Do you just ignore some regions on bigger maps?

Question TF3 Train 'Performance' Stat Explanation?

The devs should really change the name of this stat, it's unsearchable, anything with 'performance' just turns up loads of pages about optimizing the performance of the game itself, or mod pages talking about performance impacts. What does this stat actually mean and how is it calculated? The ingame tooltips as well as the wiki are no help.

Is there any specific benefit to trying to limit the length of your trains to change performance from 'Poor' to 'Mediocre,' or 'Mediocre' to 'Good?' Or is it just a general comparison of the power of your engine to your train's total weight, with no actual ingame consequences to the different ratings? Trying to pick the right locomotive with the right number of wagons for a given line feels very confusing, and in my games so far almost every reasonable-looking train just gets rated 'Mediocre.' The performance stat seems to be completely separate from a train's top speed, as well.

It feels like it would make sense to try to use low-top-speed, high-performance trains on lines with steep grades, or lines that might have a lot of stops, while using heavy low-performance trains on long flat lines that have plenty of space to get up to speed, but I'm not sure how much actual benefit the game would give you from doing that, and the streamers I've watched just seem to use trains that are as long as their stations with the highest top speed they can get regardless of the line. How much thought do you folks put into this when you buy trains?

The other important game mechanic that seems to lack adequate ingame explanation is exactly how the various town ratings (noise, pollution, reputation, etc) affect town xp growth. The town info panel gives you a general grade for how fast your town is able to grow, but I can't find any specific numbers or details on what that actually does or how that's calculated anywhere. Is there some tooltip I'm missing or is this info actually hidden from the player?

TF3: Could I get some help with cargo wagons and loading cargo on to them? (TRAINS)

So I played quite a bit of TF2, and from what I recall the trains would sit in the station until they were full of cargo if enough existed on the platform. With this new system (which I mostly love!), the train fills up with passengers and takes maybe... 1 fish before setting off back to its home destination, where upon it delivers that 1 fish.

Thing is, there are like 300 fishes in the freakin' warehouse at destination 2. Why won't the train pick up as many as it can carry back?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm still learning TF3's nuances.

Simple start on medium difficulty. Took a 4% loan.

Started at the biggest city, simple bus line from residential, to factory to shops. 3 horse carriages.

Then a simple line from Lumber yard in the bottom right to the plank factory just south east next to my city and then deliver the planks to my city. 7 carriages.

And finally a single trawler catching fish, delivering it to the warehouse and then straight to the city.

All lines are profitable when I look at the line statistics but I am bleeding money so hard. Am I starting wrong?

TpF1 Screenshot Do you even use trains in TF1?

Post image

It feels like masochism to use trains on medium difficulty level. You struggle to build railroads and stations on screwed terrain and then you will lose money when trucks are just cheaper to maintain and they can use spawned roads with some upgrades. Of course it is annoying to play horse carts on the beginning, but when you get Benz, then Opel Blitz and highway trucks then you will make 2x more money than maintenance running cost. For example I made some oil train which brought me 900k income, but its mainenance cost was 1.15 million XD I loved to build trains in other games like OpenTTD, Mashinky, C:S, SM:Railroads, but here they just feel unreal. Never played Transport Fever 2 though, do railroads work better there?

Edit: I tried TF2 and finally my cargo trains work, but passenger trains are still bad

Screenshot Has anyone yet figured out how to change the default roads and structures that are spawned or constructed at the start and during the game in TF3? Where can the script (or scripts) be found that designate the default street and building models?

Screenshot How are your thoughts of the first campaign, folks?

I personally am not a big fan of the first chapter, as it does have a lot of problems, especially in the first two missions.

I can't write down my own gripes as to why I feel like they're bad, as I am not that great as a game designer and am a bit brainless when it comes to playing the game, to be honest - for example, efficiency is just a 10-letter word, just like meta is just a 4-letter word.

Replaying Chapter 1, Mission 1, suppose one problem I had with the initial tutorial is the fact that players aren't told or hinted that they could have trains wait longer in stations, creating demand and hauling more passengers to one end in less time. In bulk, basically.

Since the mission has you haul 3 passenger cars for one Baldwin Six Wheel - which is already mediocore right after placing a passenger car, mind you, - then the capacity is at 42.

The task only has you deliver 20 people to-and-from Carson City to Reno. I doubled that almost immediately! ON AN ENGINE NOT MEANT FOR PASSENGER TRANSPORT!

The first two missions also didn't point out that there are engines which are good for passengers, and good for cargo. Early on, I just bought which train was most expensive, the fastest, and the like, as, that's just how progression works, right?

Now, initially too, I also didn't understand how sidings worked, and that's what CH. 1, M2, was supposed to teach. The game made a siding just for you, and had you place signals... I think originally, I placed them backwards.

The trains blocked each other and I was confused as to why. Had to look up on YouTube why my trains weren't moving...

These are the tutorial missions, basically. At least these first two, right?

Why is it that there are so much left out? That I need to do research on YouTube just so I'm not in the red moving forward? I remember being 9 million in debt in Baghdad oil, because I didn't know how powerful cargo hubs are.

Remember when I opened up saying that effeciency was a 10-letter word? I know. I'm a hypocrite.

Well, how about you folks? How did you learn how to play the game? Did the first few missions teach you well you think? Or did you also have to look up on YouTube how to make money instead of being in the red every month?

Expensively connect three hideouts throughout the map, which aren't connected via roads and busses, which also has a lake. Hope you kept some funds.

That said, this time around, I did keep some funds not toying with electrifying my railway, unlike the first time, which led to my bankruptcy. And I know that I could've just done a ferry, but, I was also escorting refugees from one town to another, so I might as well have connected the Northern/Swiss half of the country via roads.

Even if it did cost me like 5 million dollars.

On the bright side, somehow the hideouts had popular demand. 11 people immediately went up that mountain hideout.

For those not in the know, this little side objective is referencing the fate of one Franz Reichelt. A Austrian-born French tailor who made experimental parachute designs, just as the game tells you.

Providing airplane pilots, with aeronautics still being in its infancy, the ability to jump off and glide to safety if ever their airplanes were to stall, either from damage, or the fact that aircraft design was still in its infancy - interesting babies, those early designs. You'd think slapping a machine gun on something would be a done deal. But no, apparently you'll shoot your propeller off, as an example.

Testing it on mannequins initially, none had allegedly succeeded, to which, Franz Reichelt had decided that, the problem wasn't his suit, it was the lifeless mannequins. So he decided to prove that his design did, in fact, work... by jumping off the Eifell Tower.

On February 4, 1912, Franz Reichelt would climb to at a platform on the Eifell Tower, with a crowd watching him. He jumped, and he fell...

Unlike in our little mission, there was nothing to cushion his fall, resulting in his death.

Made worse is that, his death was one of the most famous early deaths captured on film.

Nice of the devs to make sure we can save him.

Question Do cities widen streets themselves, or do I have to piss off the cities doing it myself?

I'm getting a lot of traffic and want to widen streets. Doing so demolishes the buildings and gets me -100% reputation in the city. Will they eventually widen the streets themselves, or do I just have to bite the bullet and take the temporary hit to upgrade main streets through cities?
