Post image

Hi all, sorry for posting this study again (first posted here in July)! I try to only post each phase of my studies once in each sub/group to avoid spamming, but I have had some cancellations for the bilingual focus group and am in need of a few more participants. Details below, with English translation available at the bottom.

¡Hola a todes!

¡Gracias!

Translation:

I am looking for bilingual participants for a focus group for the Dissociation and Racialized Transnormativity (DART) Study. In this paid research study, participants will attend a 3-hour virtual focus group via Zoom to help translate new measures of gender dissociation and racialized transnormativity (i.e., how the norms for trans people are built on white supremacy and colonialism). No professional translation experience needed!

You may be eligible if you are:

  • 18 years or older
  • Trans, nonbinary, or gender diverse
  • Racially/ethnically marginalized or a Person of Color

Anyone on here that started hrt at an older age? I'm 37 and I think I might start soon. What kind of changes can be expected at this age transitioning.

I need some friends :(

Hey hey, I'm very socially awkward and anxious but most sources I've found to help transition always mention a good community or people but I don't really trust my family enough to tell them yet.

I'm currently male, wanting to transition to female, 21. I know reddit's not the best place for this, but I don't have a Facebook, and other social media apps suck at connecting you with new people.

I live in the broken-arrow/Tulsa, Oklahoma area if there's someone else who needs a friend. I don't mind in person, but would rather we start online. (Social anxiety and what not). I also wouldn't mind a purely online friendship

What to do

I’m fresh out of school, my mother keeps pushing me away from wanting hrt and I literally can’t find a job. I have no money to my name so I figured eh it can’t be that hard to find a job nope, all summer I looked for job opportunities and I got 1 interview and 2 callbacks. I really don’t have a support in this and have no way for hrt, I was considering the army and just doing that for money because at this point it seems like the only option. If anyone has advice or knows ways I could get interviews easier let me know please.

Please help! AMAB genderfluid shaving for the first time. NSFW

I came out to my family a few weeks ago and since then I felt comfortable enough to actually start a transition. Really wanted to shave my legs. My arms aren’t really that dysphoric for me so my legs and ass were the main items of interest. I don’t really own any equipment and I’m broke as shit so I can’t really buy anything unless it’s under $15AUD. I tried shaving after a shower by using scissors to trim the hair to a shave-able length, and using the safety shaver I use for my face (with a new blade ofc). I’ve had two problems so far;

  1. It wasn’t very effective. There’s still a lot of hair.
  2. Now there’s hair clippings everywhere and I can’t get them out of my hands. I showered like 3 times and I still can’t get the clippings off me.

Any help for this is appreciated. I’d like to know what I did wrong and what I can do next time. Im not sure if I’m comfortable posting a picture of this publicly but if it’ll help, I can dm anyone who asks a pic of it. Anything to fix this minor catastrophe…

Thanks in advance.

I don't know what to do at this point I'm so tired looking in a mirror and panicking from dysphoria, bangs helped but a single gust of wind can blow it up revealing my big forehead which I hate but surgery terrifies me I dont know what to do or where to go I hate this and looking like this TwT

Insurance coverage (TX)

I’m currently covered by state medicaid (superior hp) due to being in a lower income home. I’ve been seeing an endocrinologist and they prescribed me 3 months worth of vials about a week ago. I had some issues with the insurance and had to pay out of pocket, though I only purchased a month’s supply. Although I have been saving up, I will not be able to afford paying out of pocket for more than a couple of months.
Also, I was sent a letter in the mail stating the denial of coverage due to the diagnosis not meeting the insurance’s policy guidelines along with information for an appeal. Does this mean the appointments with the endocrinologist will no longer be covered?

Additional Information:
I live in texas, currently unemployed, and attending college full-time. 18M | Rx: testosterone cypionate 200mg/ml (if relevant)

Questions:
- For those who live in texas, do you know of any insurance companies that will cover hormonal therapy for gender identity disorder of childhood F64.2 at a low cost?
- Does Ambetter follow these strict policies on hormonal treatment?

-Any other resources or information that can help others with this?

It's been exactly two years since I started hrt. How do I cope with the fact that this is probably it

So, as the title says, it's been two years now and I don't expect much more to happen. I've been thinking about FFS (i'm mtf), but apparently there are no really safe and professional options in my country. Strangers 90% of the time address me as Mr. I think it's time to accept that this is it and I have no idea how to cope with that.

(pls don't try to tell me, that I should wait more and see what happens, because it is unlikely and I need to learn to live with what I got rn)

What do I do…

For context, I’ve been questioning my gender identity for an extremely long time. When I finally worked up the courage to tell my parents that I was interested in starting HRT after moving across the country, I was told that I was “not ready” and “had not put the work in.” This was AFTER months of therapy just to become comfortable expressing my desires.

A few months passed, and with the help of my psychiatrist, I got set up with a doctor and started HRT without consulting my parents because it’s MY decision. I started doing injections and taking spiro, and I genuinely felt happier and more at peace.

The cat suddenly got out of the bag when my mom went through my room without my knowledge and stumbled upon my HRT supplies. Shortly afterward, my parents confronted me separately. My mom called me selfish, impulsive, and a compulsive liar. My dad said I had no marketable skills and was going to end up homeless. It really hurt to hear those things, but I decided to push through and continue tolerating living with them. Until yesterday…

My mom burst into my room and berated me for over an hour, bringing up every mistake I’ve ever made. She said I don’t care about anyone but myself, that I’m lying to my family AND my therapist to “get what I want,” and that I’m not actually doing anything to fix my problems. Additionally, she claimed that she no longer knows how to help me.

I desperately need help and advice on how I can get out of my parents’ house and start living my life without constant judgment, ridicule, and criticism.
