Total War: Warhammer Stormfiends teach us a lesson: a truly powerful unit isn’t strong on its own, but because of the army system built around it.
It’s quite disappointing that a CA staff member stepped into the forum thread discussing whether Stormfiends should be nerfed, and stated they would take feedback from that thread to adjust Stormfiends.
Stormfiends are undeniably strong; they’ve pushed Skaven’s overall power to a new tier. But are they truly overtuned in the current meta? Most genuinely broken units are strong not from their own stats, but from comprehensive faction mechanics backing them up. Examples include Vampire Counts lords, Norscan monster units, and pretty much everything for Cathay.
If you look at Cathay units individually, none appear as overtuned as Stormfiends. Yet their campaign-wide bonuses are massive, letting their ranged units solo four full stacks of 90 ward save Chaos armies. Skaven will never reach that level of power.
Same logic applies to Norscan monster infantry. Ice Trolls’ raw stats look reasonable, but you can mass-recruit them at tier 2, stacked with huge tech bonuses, letting them steamroll nearly everything.
Vampire Counts lords are another case: they can field the regional silence ability in a clever way. The silence debuff only applies to their own army, meaning you can leave a single Vampire lord stationed alone, while your other armies in the same province stay unaffected by the silence.
This update didn’t bring sweeping overhauls to Skaven’s heroes or their tech tree. The faction’s strength mostly relies on raw unit stats. A direct nerf to Stormfiends would be devastating for the Skaven roster.

Total War: Warhammer Which campaigns where the most challenging to you ?
I’m playing the Neferata campaign and I’ve been girlbossing my way through the game without much threat. I’m not even good at the game. And I’m playing on very hard ! I really wish it would suck more.
I don’t want to “win”, I don’t want to “have fun”, I want to be busy barely holding my territory every turn so I don’t have time to think about my own unavoidable end and get sad.
Which campaign offered you the best challenge folks ? Feel free to share
Art is from u/JackBurton_027 I found it pretty cool

Total War: Warhammer Playing Tall As Thorgrim and Just Got These Two Special Locations
I had to fuse some green talismins to score Ironwarden Wardstones to keep the corruption in check, but the units I pump out from here are going to be ridiculous.
And hopefully I can score some sweet purple gear too.
What would be an ideal 3rd special location to get in my other settlement?

Total War: Warhammer Caravan of the Blue Roses is a horrifying final enemy
I finally finished a Maneaters campaign today, and ended up going for the "ultimate campaign victory", in this case was wiping out the undead across the map. I'd already been helping prop up the Empire and Kislev with contracts, so wiping out Vlad wasn't a huge problem (though he had Elspeth down to one city), and Nagash wiped out Mannfred, which made me happy. Kemmler I think died to the combination of Karl and Louen using him for target practice.
However.
Ghorst had expanded out and taken over the entire mountain region between Cathay and the Chaos Dwarf lands, and even started expanding against them. I came in from the west and started hammering him, and it turned into a 40-turn battle of hideous attrition that felt both thematic and extremely fucking annoying.
For example: I took Karak...Azor? I think? the city on the NW edge of the ogre mountains. I put a decent army in there, and Ghorst sent a full stack up to take it. It was a valiant defeat if I autoresolved (he had a unit of Drakenhoff templars, the big ghoul things, etc), so I played it, took out the necromancer leading it, and watched the army crumble. Ended the battle, felt great...and immediately had another Valiant Defeat battle presented for the SAME EXACT SIEGE, with a fully returned army and new lord. I defeated that one, same strategy...and it happened again. New lord, returned army. Defeated THAT one, and finally he just decided to lay siege, this time with a full stack at about 60% health.
That repeated every turn for six turns. Six turns and the undead army kept coming back (the same stack, I guess?! There was no other army nearby), sometimes with even nastier units, until finally my garrison and army were down to a (very high level now) Slaughtermaster and his six ogre buddies. They died, finally, to a vampire lord on a dragon who appeared out of the fuckin' ground after I beat up the previous two waves that turn.
This also happened at other locations, armies just popping up with high-level undead lords out of nowhere, making the final conquest an incredible slog until I had seven full stacks, at which point I could overwhelm them with numbers.
At the time it was sort of annoying, but...also kinda fun? The undead actually feel like a persistent, constant threat now, even if it ended up being cheesy in practice.

Total War: Warhammer Scumbaggery
So, I was playing against my cousin and sent a 'couple' of armies at him while he was distracted on the other side of his empire. And this is what he decided to welcome me with when he saw my armies... is he valid for this? or not?

Total War: Warhammer Why should I even use under cities?
I’ve done 3 campaigns with skavens and I’m currently doing a fourth with Thanquol. I noticed I needed 5 under cities for the short victory conditions, I can’t help but wonder how they even help me.
All they’re doing is stopping me from capturing settlements in enemy territory and draining all my food supplies. If I even wanted to make them slightly worth it, I would have to invest a few thousand gold and risk them being found and destroyed by the settlement owner.
The only other reason I could use them is to spawn an army at a target settlement but why wouldn’t I just walk over there or use a kill stab plan?
Are there any reasons to spread the under empire other than doing it for fun or to “act like a skaven”?

Total War: Warhammer Turn 14 of Gor-Rok campaign, 10.7K rats
Really struggling with this campaign, right off the bat I have to fight Clan Pestilens and Blooded wanderers from all sides, each with multiple armies every turn. Do I just have to sit in my first province for a while?

Total War: Warhammer I made a mistake standing against Vlad carstein with melee heroes. From what I gather I should have created a more gun heavy army to face him. What are his abilities that make him so invincible even against very powerful legendary heroes and lords in melee?
I sent Boris toddbringer, the legendary hero priest and felix the legendary hero after Vlad and his other heroes, hoping to evaporate his army. Boris was able to single-handedly murder like three heroes including Isabella carstein but when all the other heroes were dead, I sent my three really strong heroes against Vlad and he literally just kept regenerating and seemed to be taking no damage.
I read somewhere that I should just be shooting the shit out of him with a bunch of gun units as he approaches but my army composition barely had any gunners in it so it was just a bad matchup
I am genuinely curious what kind of passive ability he has that makes him so tanky, seemingly taking no damage

Total War: Warhammer What other races / factions can help me have these kinds of battles?
I was playing Imrik and fought the Chaos Dwarf to the North. They had a shitton of expendable orcs and there was this battle where I camped on a hill with a river that they crossed.
In the end my mage had 500+ kills, orc blood must have made the river red because they lost about 3000 there, I lost 400.
Unfortunately I spent the next 30 turns being fked over by the Skaven and turns out even if you kill 1000 rats in a battle you would still lose in the end.
So looking for an easier start until I know more about the game, where I can kill an uncountable number of enemies with my awesome ass magic.
I have only completed a Sister of Twilight and a Respanse De Lyon campaign before. The sisters were easier but the Bretonia knights are funnier.

Total War: Warhammer I don't get Empire cavalry
I don't get empire cavarly. There are so many version of cavary units that it feels like playing with Bretonnia. Which cavalry units are I'm supposed to use and when?

Total War: Warhammer Anyone else getting more lag since the End Times update?
I've had multiple multiplayer campaigns and one single player campaign have significant lag that would not have been there before the update. Not sure if there's a bug or something causing this, but is this affecting anyone else? Honestly it is making multiplayer (campaigns) completely non-functional.

Total War: Warhammer Fellas, I wanna play orks. What do I do?
My buddies and I are starting to play some tabletop Warhammer: The Old World. I bought all 3 total war base games earlier this year. Played part of the kislev tutorial in 3, got bored because kislev didn't really inspire me, then I went to play Empire of Man because they excited me at the time. I played immortal empires with franz as my leader. Played for a few hours, then my bad choices piled up, I lost my army and got stuck. Then I stepped away.
Now I'm wanting to try do do this correctly, and I want to play orks. I've been painting them recently, and I wanted some gameplay to inspire me more.
What do I play? My understanding is that each faction has their own campaign. Should I play tww1 for the orks base campaign? Should I play Tww2 where they got some dlc and were apperantly fixed? Should I just jump back into tww3 and play them in immortal empires. Also i am very new to rts games. I loved DOW2 and bounced of DOW1.
Any help or advice would be appreciated! Thanks gang.

Total War: Warhammer Drakenhof Templars
I dont get why they addet another shockcavalery thats not even particualy better then the existing one.
Imo it would have been nice, if the templars were a Vampire infantry unit like the handmaidens, just with shields or maybe also two swords.
EDIT: i get the lore reason, im familiar with warhammer fantasy lore, done the Hobby since i was 6 (im 31 now).

Total War: Warhammer End times power level kinda ruins the immersion
I want the Archeon end times to be OP, but one generic End Times lord just took out a 3 stacks of Vlad (in 1 battle) and 2 stacks of Toddy (also 1 battle) over 1 end turn without taking a single unit of damage. Another End Times army took on 4 stacks of Neferata also without taking a single unit of damage.
I know not every player cares about immersion, but to me it feels a bit silly.

Total War: Warhammer Advice on Nagash's Final Battle as Toddy
I've reclaimed 3 of his books before he reached his black pyramid. I'm on turn 42, as soon as he reached his final destination I lost 3 of my provinces fully Talabheim, Laurelorn forest and the black pit and with each lost province he had a high level lord with a strong ass army.
Unfortunately for me, I don't have any armies back home for both skaven and chaos attacked me. I made the mistake of underestimating and trying to defeat his final battle as Toddy but frick me, what the heck is that (VH/VH) full AI cheats enabled.
My entire army is absolutely destroyed, could only kill one mortsrch before his entire flying units descended on toddy. My inf or cav couldn't do anything against stupid amount of entities and spell spam.. I had to reload the save for the first time in the campaign..
My army consists of;
I've got 3 knights of the white wolf, Emil + 2 ulric priests, one engineer + hellstorm rocket + Ulrika and Armoured Axe units ( can't remember the name ) with 45 level life mage + empire cap and toddy who is 48 level with his unique items.
Bear in mind it's turn 42 I've got enemies everywhere and almost all the order factions are gone. Bretonnia, Kislev, dwarves got wrecked by orks, skaven punishing the wood elves.. I'm literally stretched too thin at every front and fighting off every battle manually.
Regarding the final battle and the end game scenario,
I've got several questions;
How tf do you defeat Nagash in the final battle ?
Once he's defeated, will the recently spawned armies also die off with him on the same turn ? Or do I need to hunt them down?
and territories returned back to you? Or do I need to capture it again ?
If you delay fighting off against Nagash, will you get more spawned armies and lose more provinces randomly at every turn?
Can you somehow bring reinforcement to the final battle ? If so, how did you do it?
I'm quite cheesed off for losing a ton of high value provinces as well as having a strong enemy armies deep inside my lands.. I was expecting a challenging fight but God they've exaggerated the final battle as well as the overall strength of the armies they spawn. I'm not too sure if they confused masochism with fun while they were designing it..

Total War: Warhammer Zombie Dragon vs Coven Throne
Hey Guys.
Which mount option do you prefer on Neferata?
Zombie Dragon or Coven Throne?
Which do you think is stronger?
Isnt a dragon just strictly better with way better melee stats and great mobility, which i value very highly on a spellcaster?
Thx guys!

Total War: Warhammer How exactly do wizards work in auto-resolve?
Does AR actually account for any spells/spell upgrades or does it just use the regular combat stats? Because they never get anywhere near the damage a manually controlled wizard would get
