Characters The villain prepared one last fuck you to the hero in the event that they lost Spoiler

Brencis (Blood of Dawnwalker) he was aware he might lose to Coen… so in order to gain the last laugh, he turned his sister Lunka into a feral vampire. And so far in the story, there is no cure to her condition.

Safin (No time to Die) During his final confrontation with James Bond, Safin infects him with DNA-targeting nanobots designed to kill Madeleine and Mathilde, Bond's family.
Bond kills Safin, but the damage is already done. Bond can never safely reunite with the people he loves, and ultimately chooses to die in the missile strike.

John Kramer (Jigsaw) Kramer arranged for Lynn Denlon to wear an explosive collar connected to his heart monitor. If someone killed Kramer, Lynn would die too. When Jeff finally kills Kramer, he unwittingly triggers the device that kills his own wife. Even worse, Kramer leaves behind a recording revealing that their daughter has also been kidnapped.

Mysterio from "Spider-man far from home" revealing that Peter is Spider-man to everyone through a video

100

u/Last-Fox-3879 2h ago edited 2h ago

Then scene from that gif was so mindfucky for me. Jake Gyllenhall was so convincing, even though I knew mysterio was a villain I had totally bought the lie.

u/Day_Star_6 2h ago

I wasn't a Spider-man fan until watching the Tom Holland Spider-man movies so I somehow forgot that Mysterio is a Spider-man villain before watching far from home. I used to know that but I somehow forgot. So I was one of the few people surprised by the reveal. Mysterio was great in this movie.

u/Last-Fox-3879 2h ago

No one can do “Insanely-hot-stand-up-guy-no-wait-he’s-completely-unhinged” better than Jake Gyllenhal.

5

u/Day_Star_6 2h ago

I don't remember if I've seen any other movie with him in it but Far From Home is strong evidence to back your claim. And the twist villain reveal was so good.

12

u/Last-Fox-3879 2h ago

Nightcrawler is fantastic, and very much this. I feel like he’s done it in a few other movies but I don’t remember

6

u/nkcave7 2h ago

He gets pretty unhinged in Zodiac too, another great movie

3

u/Legitimate_Maize6849 1h ago

Also in prisoners where he plays as a detective thats rough around the edges and totally spiraling through the duration of the case

The Roadhouse movie has this. Hes the good guy, and he's genuinely trying to control the worst parts of himself. Until he can't

3

u/szechuan_broccoli 1h ago

I thought they were going for a "fall from grace" origin story until that point. Total mindfuck.

I just rewatched this last night so this was the first example I thought of lol

Context for anyone who hasn't actually seen Predator: once Dutch (Arnie's character) finally beats the Predator and he's about to die, the alien activates a time bomb in his little Predator-gauntlet to (try to) kill Dutch too.

21

u/Aggressive_Noise6426 2h ago

I use to love Predator movies but the more I watched them the more I realized they some bitches cosplaying as noble warriors.

“Oh I lost…well time to blow up half the area”

Then in Prey when Predator dude is getting bodied he turns invisible and then sneaks up behind dude and shanks him. Thats some lame coward shit.

10

u/Quick_Response_7065 2h ago

That is true, and I agree, but it's also been explained that they must leave no trace upon defeat to keep lower-tech species from running out of control. This goes deep into one of the PS2 games, Concrete Jungle.

A predator fails his hunt; his device doesn't kill him, and he is exiled in shame. The problem was that some of his weapons were left behind and picked up by humans (the family of the prey, a big mafia gang), and after hundreds of years, that family has reverse-engineered the predator tech and became basically massive company that runs a big chunk of everything and they all have access to Predator tech.

They sent you back to Earth to atone, and now thugs have the camo, plasma weapons and even the common street thug has some nasty weaponry.

Now humans are expanding and hunting predators back, and it's a big no-no for predators. The game is fun, and you gotta clean up the mess you made in the prologue of it.

7

u/2Beauty 2h ago

To be fair, in the Prey example, that’s specifically the kind of action that gets you marked for death in Yautja society.

3

u/HiTork 2h ago

Time bomb is probably closer to mini-nuke. In the sequel, another Predator attempts this, and anyone who saw the first movie knows exactly what is about to happen once it starts tapping a code on its arm pad.

10

u/Nicklesnout 2h ago

Gotta love how Peter Cullen provided his laugh before he blows himself up to spite Arnold.

7

u/Fitzftw7 2h ago

Which always seemed a little weird to me. Like, isn’t their culture honor-based? Like, if a Predator loses, shouldn’t they respect their opponent’s fairly earned victory?

19

u/OrangeBird077 2h ago

I think a part of it is they don’t want to leave any traces of there’s for victorious prey.

Case in point how in Predators a former Navy Seal not only survives by killing several Predators, he even gets his hands on some of their equipment to make him even deadlier.

12

u/AwkwardInitiative427 2h ago

While this specific example may just be like, early installment weirdness, before Yautja(the Predators species name) lore had really been developed and expanded, I believe part of the reason is so whatever species manages to kill them doesn't get access to their tech.

8

u/Thamnophis660 2h ago

if a Predator loses, shouldn’t they respect their opponent’s fairly earned victory?

Yeah this always seemed weird to me. I'm not knowledgeable on much about Predator lore, but the movies always make it seem like they have a proud warrior culture that's understandable to humans, until it isn't.

Or maybe the Jungle Hunter from the first movie is just a sore loser, who knows.

3

u/lanceturley 2h ago

If the Jungle Hunter was a sore loser, then the City Hunter from Predator 2 is an even bigger sore loser, because he tried to nuke himself in LA and kill who knows how many innocent people. All because Danny Glover had him at a slight disadvantage.

1

u/Thamnophis660 2h ago

Yeah it's probably "rule of cool" and "blue and orange morality" If we're gonna get all TVTropes about it.

I enjoy the movies though, even though these sort of things don't seem consistent.

5

u/go_faster1 2h ago

Nah, they may have their little honor system, but at the end of the day, they are egotistical hunters.

5

u/Dhexodus 1h ago

Honor, my ass. Bunch of technologically enhanced hunters goes to a back alley planet to hunt primitives who can only throw rocks really fast.

They're a bunch of baby seal clubbing smurfs and I will die on this hill.

5

u/capspookyspork 2h ago

They also do that to stop anyone from getting their tech. He was beat it was time to die

3

u/Fitzftw7 2h ago

On the one hand, that makes sense. On the other, he was laughing like an asshole who knew exactly what he was doing.

2

u/DoodyInDaBooty 50m ago

Just because their culture demands honor, doesn’t mean everyone in it behaves honorably.

I’m sure if you could travel back to samurai times, you’d find many examples of people with a real spotty track record of behaving honorably.

1

u/Fitzftw7 27m ago

Oh, I watched Shogun. Assuming it’s even remotely indicative of Japanese Samurai culture, their idea of honor was abhorrent.

3

u/Ok-Specific-3918 2h ago

Shit he had one more trick up his sleeve to bring it to a draw. The game is the game.

3

u/Quick_Response_7065 2h ago

That is true, but it has also been explained that they must leave no trace upon defeat to avoid lower-tech species growing out of hand. This goes deep into one of the PS2 games, Concrete Jungle.
A predator fails his hunt; his device doesn't kill him, and he is exiled in shame. The problem was that some of his weapons were left behind and picked up by humans (the family of the prey, a big mafia gang), and after hundreds of years that family has reverse-engineered the predator tech. They send you back to Earth, and now thugs have the camo, plasma weapons and so on.

Also the game gives you game over if you kill any non-combatants in your run as well.

Now humans are expanding and hunting predators back, and it's a big no-no. The game is fun, and you gotta clean up the mess you made in the prologue of it.

1

u/OriginalTayRoc 4m ago

They have honour in their own fashion,  but they don't consider any other species to be their equal so they aren't expected to show any respect.

They see humans more like we see dogs.

Can a dog fight well enough to earn our respect? (Lets say in the context of fighting off a pack of wolves, before anybody jumps on me)

Sure.

Could a dog be honourable?

Sure. But it is an amusing oddity.

We still don't treat that dog with the respect we give a human warrior.

Now that being said, if a dog defeated me in battle i sure as shit wouldnt want him to get his paws on my gun. I'm going to shoot him. Or in this case, blow him up.

Khan, in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, activates the Genesis device, knowing that the Enterprise's warp drive is crippled and that Kirk and company won't be able to reach safe distance before the device goes off, which will result in the death of everyone aboard both Khan's ship and The Enterprise.

Joker from The Dark Knight movie.

He turns Dent into Two-Face. Literally mocks batman for thinking he gambles his whole plan on a fist fight

Dexter kills the Trinity killer while unaware of what Trinity has already taken from him.

23

u/Greenman8907 3h ago

Peak of the series. All downhill from there.

3

u/pyrhus626 2h ago

None of the villains were good after that. I really liked Lumen and her chemistry with Dexter though, but that’s about it for highlights post-Trinity

u/Marshmellow_campmix 1h ago

I liked the religious guy at first but the twist ruined it for me

Honestly, Lithgow's incredible performance even in the face of truly atrocious writing aside, season 4 was pretty bad too. I honestly just tell people to stop after season 3. It's not a decent ending, but it's really the best stopping-off point folks are gonna get and Lithgow being amazing doesn't really fix that the series is in free fall already after that.

6

u/guttengroot 2h ago

Not the same, he's already killed her. It's not that his death leads to him killing her.

7

u/balantor 2h ago

It's kinda the same
Dexter kill him thinking his family is fine and all this will stop with his death, and when he back home, one last fuck you from him
Like if we take OP example from Blood of Dawnwalker, his sister was already turned, it's not like death of Brencis caused that but just to screw with Coen just in case

It's not the event caused by death of villian, but like last gut punch in case they lose

Kuja from Final Fantasy 9. If you manage to beat him, he has a final 'fuck you' ready - Ultima. And unlike in other final fantasy games, Ultima is an automatic party wipe.

14

u/SarcasmSanctioned 2h ago

What the fuck is that outfit?

14

u/Psychological_Use586 2h ago

Kuja played a role in awakening certain things in an entire generation of young people.

7

u/Status-Pause1184 2h ago

Kuja not only has a flair for the dramatic he chooses to dress like that

3

u/SarcasmSanctioned 2h ago

For what reason? That looks like something a male stripper or prostitute might wear.

1

u/Jazzlike-Ad2906 26m ago

That sounds like a pretty good reason to me.

1

u/Psychological_Use586 2h ago

Yeah but in Final Fantasy 6 you can survive it. In Final Fantasy 9, you can't. It's a scripted loss. Basically you have to choose four party members to face the embodiment of non-existence that shows up out of nowhere. The four you didn't choose give their energy to the chosen four so they have the strength to fight.

Operation Cinder: Palpatine was convinced that if he died the Empire had failed him. Therefore he planned to destroy the vast majority of the Empire and the Rebels in the case of his death, leaving only the loyal remnant left that would enter the Unknown Regions and create the First Order.

3

u/Numerous1 2h ago

That sounds so stupid.

“If the president gets assassinated let’s kill the entire military. It’s their fault! All millions of enlisted people!”

9

u/Afalstein 2h ago

Hitler had some sort of twisted reasoning that if Germany lost, they would deserve to be destroyed for "failing his vision."

2

u/Smellbringer 30m ago

I mean, it wasn't "kill the entire military" but Hitler had plans that fit the mold quite a bit. Paris was supposed to be burned to the ground out of spite. But the guy in charge decided that plan was fucking insane and would end in his death, so he decided not to do that.

2

u/oh_mos_defnitely 2h ago

Every attempt at explaining the sequels through retcon and new lore only digs their hole deeper.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. It’s just such a weird thing to do to try and justify it.

Percival Pickens, the evil wizard from Riverdale Season 6. Yes, that Riverdale, the high school show.

The Archie gang and their alternate-dimension selves defeated him by luring him into the alternate dimension and then to 1620 (via angelic time travel), where the Devil was able to harvest his soul due to a contract loophole. However with his final words, Percival redirected Hailey's Comet to hit and destroy Riverdale and put up barriers to prevent anyone from leaving. Cheryl (the mean girl cheerleader) used her phoenix powers to try to melt the comet, but failed, leading the angel to send everyone to 1955. Season 7 picked right up on this thread with an Emmet Till-focused episode on racism.

Heavy spoilers for Steel Ball Run, specifically for the final arc.

Right before his ultimate demise at Johnny Joestar's hands, Funny Valentine used his Stand to bring over a version of Diego Brando from a parallel universe, entrusting him with killing Johnny and securing the Saint's Corpse for the United States. That parallel Diego had The World as his Stand and was an insane final fight.

In echos of oblivions the Sith Lord Darth Vitiate left behind a final surprise in the event someone actually managed to kill him. Carved on his body was a ritual that spawned an entity that would assault the minds of those who knew Vitate in his various lives. This entity would in theory feed off their memories and trauma and eventually allow Vitiate to be reborn.

In practice however the entity lacked any of vitate’s personality or memories. Only his knowledge and abilities. It would attempt to set out to destroy all life in the universe but was thwarted just as soon as it was awoken by Vitiate’s wife and children, aided by the spirits of countless Jedi and even sith who had suffered at Vitiate’s hand in life such as Revan, Grand Master Satele Shan, and the Jedi exile Meetra Surik

Wolfenstein: Youngblood.

At some point in the 18 years between The New Colossus and now, BJ Blascowicz killed Adolf Hitler. Turns out, Hitler had a doomsday device trigger wired to his heart. The extreme weather patterns plaguing Earth are the result; they are unstoppable, irreversible, getting exponentially worse, and will eventually render the entire planet uninhabitable for all humankind. Because in Hitler's VERY* demented mind: if Nazis can't inherit the earth, then no one deserves to.

*At his last appearance,  he's elderly, ravaged by Parkinson's Dementia and kidney stones, incontinent, hallucinating, and shooting actors at random.

Teen Titans:

After Slade went down via Terra (though not permanently) the crew had some of his stuffed stored in evidence(?) One of those things being a mask containing a drug that causes robin to hallucinate when in the dark and drove him mad to the point of threatening his friends and would have killed him via heart failure.

Arthur Mitchel a.k.a. The Trinity Killer (Dexter season 4)

Before Dexter captures and kills him, Arthur kills Rita (Dexter’s wife) in front of their baby and leaves her bloodied in a bathtub while their son is covered in her blood as a final fuck you to Dexter before leaving town. Dexter didn’t find this out until after he killed Arthur, had he known beforehand something tells me he wouldn’t have been as delicate and cleanly with him as he was with his other victims.
