Hated Tropes (Shameful trope) "wait a second, this isn't a parody/tribute/reference, this is just the author insulting other media/people"
even worse if the reason is for being butthurt
-Program Exchange (along with some few 90s cartoons like Tiny Toons Adventures): basically the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles got the "this thing ruins young generations" treatment or being seen as something that gonna pass out quickly for being "a stupid concept" (Basically "Boomers Cartoonish we're baffled kids would rather watch Pokemon over Goodfeathers), one of the funniest examples is the Program Exchange promo (with Woody only being a public icon in Brazil, Fred being only a cereal and vitamin mascot, and Dennis being dead and most of the niche of public prefer the British version)
-Family Guy: the infamous "joke" of Quagmire being over Marge and killing the Simpson family, probably just as a respond to the "plagiarismo di plagiarismo" joke of the Simpsons
-Midtopia I mean Chimptopia: (EDIT) promoting their new show by throwing trash at Gameoverse like an attemp of "console wars of SEGA vs Nintendo" type (and with some things revealing about the author like being rejected of a gartic phone with RubberRoss, makes the situation more lame at that time)
-The Red Ape Family: basically the authors being butthurt for the most logic arguments of the NFT being a scam and critics about their "show" and putting most of the critics as a bunch of babies, some of them being saberspark
-Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest: between all the war of consoles, in the "Cranky's Videogame Heroes", there's a trash can with Sonic's Shoes and Earthworm Jim's pistol with the sign of "No Hoppers"

Using Fred Flintstone to argue some moral high ground about the effects of cartoons on kids is pretty rich.
And it turns out the Turtles really are evergreen.
24
u/Alternative_Buyer364 3h ago
Tbf by the time of this ad the Flintstones had been pretty sanded down from their cigarette-shilling days; it was around this time things like Flintstone Kids dropped.
2
u/Hawk-Is-Here 19m ago
They used Fred Flintstone. And Woody Woodpecker. And Dennis the Menace (the American one, not the British one).
They've gotten more mileage out of the Ninja Turtles than any of these guys in the past... 20 years, give or take?
This aged like wine and milk at the same time.

I mean at least Nintedo and Sega are good pals and Sonic is allowed to hang with Mario.
Meanwhile Earthworm Jim is a dead ip owned by a Homophonic Ai-Shilling asshat

yeah, it was the war consoles, and SEGA do the same most of the time, specially with the commercials

I have a vague memory of a strange game for the N64. Which featured Pikachu as a pet and a microphone add on, so you could train it and give it commands. Apparently if you said ‘PlayStation’ into the microphone, Pikachu would respond with an electric shock.

Yeah, and they were right about EWJ
3
u/REALDollyParton46 3h ago
I wish it wasn't the case, but it is. EWJ 1 and 2 on the sega are iconic.
The N64 EWJ? that was the death knell. I own it, I tried to force myself to love it, but it was a pile of dooky on day one.
3
u/HailMadScience 4h ago
I also feel its in character for Cranky?

Chimptopia: the image and the controversy speak for itself
They really don't. I've never heard of this and have no idea what this is about.
88
u/MeepMan324 6h ago
Basically, a guy released a trailer on kickstarter for Chimptopia that basically has the 3 main characters beat the shit out of and make fun of a Gameoverse character (he said he wanted to start a "playful rivalry" with the creators of gameoverse) he then released an apology video with one of the main guys getting LYNCHED. Also the guy did some work for Nick Fuentes.
34
u/Munklock 6h ago
in a nutshell: promoting their new show by throwing trash at Gameoverse like an attemp of "console wars of SEGA vs Nintendo" type (and with some things revealing about the author like being rejected of a gartic phone with RubberRoss, makes the situation more lame)
14
u/ChickenInASuit 4h ago edited 3h ago
(and with some things revealing about the author like being rejected of a gartic phone with RubberRoss, makes the situation more lame)
I’m gonna need someone to translate this sentence for me. It’s not even that I’m unfamiliar with Gameoverse, RubberRoss or Chimptopia (though I have admittedly never heard of them before), I simply don’t understand what OP is trying to say here.
What was revealed about the author? What on Earth is a “gartic phone” and what does RubberRoss have to do with it?
15
u/Cheenug 4h ago
GarticPhone is a webgame which is essentially a drawing version of the Telephone game. Like one player puts "A monkey juggling", a second player draws it (badly probably), then a third player guesses what the original prompt was (maybe wrong, like "monkey doing 67"), then a fourth player gets third player's guess as their prompt and etc.
So from what I can infer, RubberRoss hosted a game with a lot of other prominent artists in his circle and the creator of the show wanted to join but was rejected behind the scenes.
Dunno the rest.
5
5
2
u/Squirrelman2712 4h ago
What does "rejected of" mean
4
u/ChickenInASuit 4h ago
I’m gonna give OP the benefit of the doubt on that one as English doesn’t seem to be their first language. Now that I know (thanks to another comment) that GarticPhone is a game RubberRoss created, I’m pretty sure “rejected of a gartic phone with RubberRoss” means the creator wanted to collaborate on it with RubberRoss and was rejected.
Regardless though, OP really needs to get better at not assuming everyone knows what they’re talking about and provide more context. Even if it’s through broken English, more info would have really helped here.

When it comes to comic books, this is real "Inside Baseball" shit, but...
The editor in chief of Marvel used to be a guy named Jim Shooter, and for one of Marvel's anniversaries he decided to create an entirely new world meant to be just like the real world, but with superheroes (even though that was always the idea behind the regular Marvel world, but I digress).
He assigned a bunch of Marvel's best and brightest to the project, but kept cutting the budget while changing the direction of the universe and piling on more and more work. Eventually, the new line launched, and its main hero, Starbrand, was written by Jim Shooter, and he was from Jim Shooter's hometown. What a coincidence!
About a year later, Shooter was fired from Marvel. He went on to found Valiant comics where he launched a universe that was... wait for it... just like ours but with superheroes! But, even though he was gone, his "New Universe" remained. It was left to Mark Gruenwald (who Owen Wilson's character on Loki is a loving homage to).
Mark never really liked Jim, so he, along with John Byrne, decided to drop a nuke on Jim Shooter... I mean Starbrand's, hometown.
The "New Universe" ended shortly thereafter.

That one Teen Titans Go crossover thing where after references to the old titans and Thundercats shows the character from the terrible Thundercats reboot breaks the fourth wall to say "this garbage is good and anyone who thinks the old ones were better is stupid"
42
u/Munklock 6h ago
is even funnier that after that, Thundercats Roar got cancelled
1
u/CheatsySnoops 1h ago
I have a personal conspiracy that Teen Titans Go made the episode bad on purpose.
- The angry fanboy has a manbun, which the creator of Tumblrcats Snore had
- Depicting Panthro's skeleton in the reject cave when his actor had recently died
- The creators of TTG originally made the 2011 Thundercats and had their show canned prematurely
- Allegedly, WB and/or the creator of Tumblrcats didn't ask TTG to make that episode (Though I'm sure it was the Tumblrcats creator specifically).
I think they did it to set up a gamble wherein either TTG gets canned and they can do something else and/or they make TumblrCats look worse and that gets canned as an attempt at revenge on it.
Ultimately, TTG stayed and TumblrCats got canceled.

u/EbolaHunter316 5h ago
Kinda insane how people defend this show when the writers are even insulting you like it's not a surprisingly funny show it's just slop always has been always will be lol

u/Krylla_ 3h ago
Eh, I think you never know what you're gonna get. Sometimes it's mean, sometimes it's gross, sometimes it's serviceable kid stuff, and sometimes you get something that's just plain weird but kind of fun in that way, like the 401K, Taxes, and Equity episodes.
And then it also has the part where Robin breaks Kid Flash's leg, which is just peak humor and that part I won't debate on.
0
u/knightmechaenjo 1h ago
What's crazy is that it honestly makes me want to check out the whole thundercats reboot thing
From what I've seen of it it looks really cool
67
u/M-Shadowtoad 6h ago
30
u/elchuni 5h ago
It's far worse than what you just described.
For example, the One Piece has so much misinformation like Franky being marked as irrelevant, that you could easily leave the grand line, misunderstanding the fishmen conflict and so on. I don't want to detail how disgusting the last part with Oda's daughters felt.
It spawned a wave of videos disecting every single error from this video and even whole video essays about Jello's career and his hatred of anime.
17
u/go_faster1 5h ago
Then there’s his videos of Kingdom Hearts and RWBY, that last one is definitely butthurt that he failed an audition
21
u/elchuni 5h ago
So much that he spoiled a character returning on the next season of RWBY during that time.
2
u/maddwaffles 2h ago
Nah, while the RWBY thing was clearly bitter, I think people just SAY that last part.
If it was true that he even knew about that particular return, there's no way that a casual viewer would have picked that up without hindsight.
That's just a weird attempt by people to manufacture hate against someone, because they don't want to "just" repeat what everyone else is saying.
2
u/BornCoyote87 2h ago
Now to be fair, as someone that liked RWBY as it started, with the literal death of the author...I don't care how many of Monty's notes they say they were following, that show fell off pretty damn hard for me at the Mistral/Haven arc's end and keeping up with it became a chore.
3
u/HailMadScience 4h ago
Im sorry, Oda's daughters?! How is that relevant to OP?
17
u/Easy_Action_1380 4h ago
Good question, one thst Jello isn't interested in answering for himself. Guy just fucking drags them into his whiny bitter hitpiece while also just flat out implying their dad is a fucking pedophile.
5
u/maddwaffles 2h ago
Basically he tried to imply that Eichiro Oda was somehow a uniquely neglectful father for having such a heavy working schedule, but we know this to not be the case because Oda is known to share anecdotes, and he has a pretty typical (if somewhat funny haha) relationship with both of them.

His Hatred of Anime?
Last thing of his I saw was he Remade an anime Intro (or was it an outro?) with some of his characters from epithet erased.
Can you elaborate a bit more?
EDIT: For a source to back me up: https://www.reddit.com/r/Epithet_Erased/comments/1x4ekbw/jello_edited_a_whole_ass_epithet_version_of_the/
10
u/Easy_Action_1380 4h ago
Multiple of his videos can basically be him going on long winded rants about anime tropes he hates (i.e. all of them) but claims they're just "jokes" by saying them with his stupid comedy voice.
0
u/Due-Coyote7565 4h ago
Listen, I've Seen STIB before, and I'll be the first to say that they're CinemaSins Level dross (If elevated slightly by the editing) .
that said- which videos do you refer to? and if so, then which tropes are 'Anime Tropes' specifically?
I've forwarded at least some evidence - why don't you?
19
u/Easy_Action_1380 3h ago
The character arc of every Jelloapocalypse viewer can effectively be described as:
You laugh at his videos cause you're a kid and/or haven't watched or aren't that knowledgeable about the thing he's making fun of
He makes a video making fun of something you're actually knowledgeable about.
You come to the realization that he's actually a spiteful dipshit who just hides his bitterness and lack of media literacy behind a silly voice
You stop watching his videos.
3
u/MichaelKeehan 1h ago
I tested this out with his Sonic video and I thought it was funny.. for about a minute. Then he just went through the same 10-year-old Sonic jokes done a thousand times before.
3
u/Stardust_Brigadier 1h ago
I gave him the benefit of the dobut with the Kingdom Hearts video and JoJo one when they originally came out because the fanbases usually get flack but the One Piece was so obviously done maliciously it made me realize "Oh wait, he was actually being serious about those others and wasn't playing it up for Jokes".
1
12
u/Due-Coyote7565 4h ago
Worst part is that he can do so much better than this.
he's genuinely talented as a creative, but that this is his legacy.
13
u/Easy_Action_1380 4h ago
This needs to be more understood, this mother fucker had a whole ass book club dedicated to reading One Piece, like the whole thing.
And he still managed to get nearly all of it wrong.
4
u/Stardust_Brigadier 2h ago edited 1h ago
My eyes glazed over hard on the intro where he just immediately starts having Luffy rant about the very recent chapter spoilers in an unsubtle way like this was some clever joke about the plot and not some "Snape Killed Dumbledore" shit to rile up fans and confuse the people who somehow were genuinely using the video to get a summary of One Piece. He did the same thing with Kingdom Hearts as well if I remember correctly.

I have mixed feelings about JelloApocalypse.
On the one hand, Epithet Erased was GOATED, and I still mourn it to this day.
On the other hand, I think it would’ve been better for himself and his audience if he had never touched the Ace Attorney series. The Ace Attorney Litmus Test is “If you don’t like Maya Fey, play something else.” I think he dislikes the assistant girls on principle, and yet he’s played through EVERY SINGLE GAME and made a STIB about it.

u/Delicious-Spring-877 21m ago
EE isn’t dead, it’s just books now. Prison of Plastic is great, like ten times the content with a fully voice acted audio book

Don’t worry, you have plenty of the time. The next book will be a novelization of the Museum Arc (the first four episodes) and it’s been in production for like years now. You have a lot of time before the next book and especially before the next completely new book

His RWBY one especially came from a place of mockery and hatred of the show, for the petty ass reason that he got denied for a role he auditioned for in the show (then later violated his NDA he signed for the audition by leaking details from the script)

u/BlueMonkey2824 5h ago
This trope is so confusing because sometimes it's like, what are they trying to accomplish? Like that time when Family Guy would just make jokes about Bob's Burgers out of jealousy. We're they actually expecting people to laugh and agree with them? Genuinely what was the end goal there?
23
u/jbwarner86 4h ago
They're just bitter because Bob's Burgers has stuff Family Guy will never have, like plots and likeable characters.
-3
u/maddwaffles 3h ago
I think your autism is showing, it was meant to be good-natured, or else the Bob's Burgers team wouldn't have shown up to voice and provide their models over and over.
It's not bitterness, you simply are taking everything too literally.
Do you also "not get" how Hank Hill showed up in Family Guy a few times too? It's because creatives can take a joke.
7
u/BlueMonkey2824 2h ago
Well, it's hard to tell what exactly the "joke" is supposed to be when they aren't joking about any of the sjow's actual flaws (aside from the animation, which is weird since IT'S own animation isn't much better). It's not that I'm offended, it's that I just don't get what the punchline is. Also, did you have to be ableist?
-6
u/maddwaffles 2h ago
It's not ableism when I do it, but you illustrate my point. You have to manufacture an opportunity to find malicious intent or offense in everything, that's why it's clear that you struggle with identifying humor where others can see it plainly.
4
u/BlueMonkey2824 2h ago
What exactly is the punchline, then?
-9
u/maddwaffles 2h ago
"Oh? I can't recognize humor? Explain it to me in this very narrow and restrictive format of joke-telling, surely my extremely narrow demanded definition will comply with every type of joke."
We get it, you don't know what jokes are, calm tf down.
12
11
u/Obvious-Benefit-6785 2h ago
So you don't know what the punchline is, you just like hurling insults.
-10
u/Souppdog 4h ago
Family guy was clearly taking friendly jabs that's all it was
7
u/BlueMonkey2824 4h ago edited 3h ago
Apparently the writers claim that's the case, but it's kind of hard to tell with how genuinely bitter most of the jokes felt, especially in the Trump episode. Like, "your show sucks because our unflattering caricature of a bad person likes it", like, okay, and?

u/Emotional_King_5239 2h ago
The entirety of The Boys comic books
7
u/knightmechaenjo 1h ago
Is it wrong to say I absolutely despise the boys comic?
5
u/Emotional_King_5239 1h ago
Nah, they kinda suck
While stories that are "what if this superhero world was fucked up" can be very interesting (see the DC absolute universe), the boys just don't hvae anything besides that gimmick, yes, they turn stuff up to 11, yes, their world is really fucked up, but it isn't really interesting, there is nothing more to add than the basic premise, idk, it also just doen't click with me
Dark subjects as an element of a story can give it depth, dark elements as the only thing that a story has is just edgy
3
u/knightmechaenjo 1h ago
Agreed with everything said
Really it's that type of edgy where it doesn't even feel cool it's just circlejerk but without the funny part
2
u/regretfulposts 1h ago
Bro any take you about to fling out will burn people because it's too cold to touch.
5
u/Plus-Emphasis-2605 1h ago
I kinda always hate series birthed out of mocking a genre
Either it’s this or one punch man the joke feels old fast and I rather see someone be the trope heavy then be this10
u/regretfulposts 1h ago
Tbf, one punch man did evolve to be more than just a one note joke. Like One Punch man still play the same trope seen in shonen, the difference is that other characters are playing vital role in battles instead of just letting the MC to win every fight (because that would get boring real quick and the author One knows about this).
Granted the manga is in a slump, but the webcomic is most of the good writing is from and it's still releasing bangers after bangers. One Punch Man has more similar to Invincible rather than the Boys.

34
u/DetectiveFew5417 5h ago
Earthworm Jim did mock Donkey in the Special Edition of the first game that included an ugly Kong mask with an arrow through it as an easter egg.
Supposedly, the EWJ guys were angry that DKC sold better than their game during that time.
16
u/Everyoneheresamoron 5h ago

It amazes me how many forced rivalries there were back in the 90's, because a large majority of them faded into obscurity. The only rivals that really stuck around are the likes of Mario vs Sonic, Street Fighter vs Fatal Fury/Art of Fighting/King of Fighters, and Pokémon vs Digimon, and out of those three rivalries, the first two pretty much resolved pretty peacefully, and the latter one really didn't even compete with each other that much in the first place.

One of the single funniest hate art I've ever seen is one of Finn, Gumball and Steven Universe murdering Johnny Test. What makes it so hilarious is Steven is, pretty out of character, ripping Johnny Test in half with his bare hands with the most stock image looking blood splats I've ever seen. And what are Finn and Gumball doing while this brutal murder takes place? Casually eating ice cream.

Cancelled manga(after a single chapter) made by the author of kakegurui were a lot of characters of popular isekai series are the villains that the main character has to slay cause they are burned the village and raped the friend of the protagonist.
Stupid as fuck since Kirito was never sent to another world and characters like Aletta and Katarina are from another type of isekai. But anything counts, I guess

Worse, it's an homage to a Screwball Squirrel short that doesn't quite get what the original is doing.
The original short features a generic Disney-esque squirrel as a stand in for cutesy cartoons, who Gobbles' spoof takes the place of here, while Screwball takes the role of...the lead guy, I don't care to look him up.
The scene almost plays out the same way, except where the squirrel is taken behind the tree it's one "Wham!" sound effect and we move onto the point of the short. Here, we see the intent of the main guy's friends and even hear Gobbles in pain.
It's not so much the violence of the act, so much where your imagination goes with it, but the latter makes your imagination much more vivid.
1
u/CheatsySnoops 1h ago
That plus parodying something legitimately mainstream as Disney makes the Screwy Squirrel joke work better. Indie Animation/Glitch Productions isn't exactly mainstream.

The Family Guy thing wasn't even a joke or a gag. Dude just showed Quagmire assaulting Marge and then killed off the Simpsons. Like, I don't remember where I heard it, but I remember someone suggesting that if Maggie had shot Quagmire instead at the end, then at least it would've been a joke.
For someone like Seth MacFarlane, who's never been afraid to throw a joke at someone else's expense, he is really thin skinned.
5
u/Personal-Listen-4941 5h ago
Ironically the two teams actually worked together to produce a crossover years later that actually worked well.
But this ‘joke’ didn’t work. The punchline is that the mother of 3 kids is raped?
6
u/HailMadScience 4h ago
Im guessing its meant to be shock humor but its just...too crass and real? Like, I am a person who will argue that no topic is necessarily forbidden for jokes, but this one doesn't land...or even get off the runway.
2
u/Personal-Listen-4941 4h ago
Family Guy is known for dark humour. A joke about rape is pretty par for the course & if you’re watching it, you know what you will get. But this wasn’t a joke, there was no attempt at humour. It was just their character raping Marge Simpson.

It's sad that the Movies be the best thing that came outta Sonic for an Decade. The Legend of Zelda about ta get that Status though with the 3rd Super Mario Film on the way.

u/SanjiSasuke 5h ago
I'd say Frontiers and Shadow Gens are both pretty great.

Definitely but the Director of SEGA doesn't. Which baffles me when he stated that the Movies saved the Franchise. Like just do what your fans want!

Nah, the first one isn’t mocking the Turtles for violence, but relevancy. TMNT was the big thing on syndication, but shows that the Program Exchange was distributing were timeless classics that still ran to that day.

What about the God of war insulting Zelda. By saying leave your fairy boy or something. That one was wack funny.

The Program Exchange one never fails to make me laugh as TMNT is still relevant and popular while Woody is only popular in Brazil,Fred Flintsone is a cereal mascot and Dennis may as well be dead

In the last image it says "no hopers". Unless Nintendo think Sonic and Jim can't hop and aren't hoppers.

I didn’t know about the Chimptopia guy being rejected from the Gartic Phone thing. Hell, I did a Gartic Phone with Ross (could have done more but schedules didn’t line up) and I suck.

Okay, but that first one? That's from 1990. If it's American, and a quick Google of the Program Exchange seems to first that, then those are all a lot more recognizable to their audience. They're dated even then, sure, but that's kind of the point as they're trying to make a statement of staying power v. passing entertainment trends.
Further in response to your point re: Dennis the Menace? Judging from my own experience at the time, the existence of the UK Dennis was effectively unknown in the states at the time. Even now, I can probably count the number of times I've been exposed to it on my fingers, perhaps on a single hand.
Now. Disclaimer. I'm speaking from an American-centric point of view and you're absolutely making points with things I didn't know regarding international popularity. Also? I was like 9-10 at the time. And further, all of these stars have faded significantly since—there was an excellent Flintstones comic from DC a while back but that's it.
I feel like this is much more a case of the thing adding poorly rather than pure foolishness. I apologize if that's your point.

I’m British, and grew up with our Dennis (and his dog Gnasher), both in the Beano comic and his 1990s animated series. Would never expect Yanks to recognise him!
Your equivalent was nowhere near as popular or well known over here, they had to rename the films something like ‘Dennis Strikes Again’ or some such

Re: Program Exchange, you seem to be ignorant of the culture of TV at the time, these cartoons were certainly culturally relevant because we were not in the hell of "new and only new" being shown all the time.
New cartoon specials for the Flintstones were releasing at least once or twice a year, and both its "kid-focused update" from the 80s, and the original 60s series were on syndication throughout the decade.
Dennis also ran on syndication through the early 90s and was popular enough to drum up a 13 episode revival, and a live action film.
Woody also heavily syndicated in the 1990s, in America, and was a known cultural touchstone to kids at the time.
Re: Family Guy. It's not probably, Seth explicitly said they were replying and trying to show that they could take their licks and return the favor, as that was the culture of network animation at the time, and persisted to be through the 2010s to now.
Same issue with Diddy Kong.
It seems less like there's a version of this trope going on, and more that you don't know what a joke is.

Or maybe the joke just not being that funny?
Especially the first one.

I get it, here in the big 2026 we can't laugh at others, it's not woke.
I hate to tell you but misery and comedy have always been explicitly tied together, champ.

To be fair to Diddy's Kong Quest. Earthworm Jim did die as a franchise, and while Sonic is a well known name, there were multiple times it almost got cancelled by sega because it just didn't sell well.

Mid? Midtopia. Nah it ain’t mid it’s just eh-poop
Also you probably shouldn’t throw shade to gamepververse when your own show looks like a rip off of Ed’s world. That’s like trying to make fun of digital circus when you look like diet home star runner
On one hand some times it can help show off a feud like saga vs Nintendo but most the time and especially now just hurts your look. Especially something like chimptopia. You hurt your chances when mocking one show. The haters of one show aren’t gonna automatically love you for doing something anyone could do
Edit 1: also. I find it. Very hilarious the first one was trying to throw shade at tmnt . Trying to say it be just a forgettable fad
And a few years later it’s still one the biggest shows known. Having multiple shows that spawned different fandoms and still has relevance to this day in games and movies
Meanwhile the biggest relevance Fred flintsone has was the grand dad meme
Heck I kinda forget the cereal and who Dennis is.
And compare Dennis. Woody and Fred live action movies to tmnt live action movies. It’s easy to see who wins
Most people have Lille to say of two these shows and even woody word pecker not that big of a
Tldr: it can be funny but feels like you need to have a personality to back it up. With the last one is fine but some like the first one being heavily ironic

u/VulpesFennekin 1h ago
The irony with the Red Ape Family joke being that Saberspark and his fans ended up kind of loving the parody version.

Robot Chicken is one of those shows were when the make fun of something its either hot or miss but HOLY FUCK is their Homestar Runner skit mean spirted as fuck becuase the cast gets killed off solely for a shitty "Strong Bad looks like a luchador so he must be an illgeal imagrint" joke

Appernelty there a rumors the Chap brothers actually saw this and were really pissed off at the RC writers for makeing this.
i dont blame them

u/RorschachtheMighty 36m ago
That first one is pretty funny considering not one of those characters featured are even remotely popular or even known amongst kids today, but everyone knows the turtles.

This panel came from the manga Isekai Tenseisha-goroshi: Chīto Sureiyā. The plot is about the protagonist wanting to to join a guild called "Rebels Against God", only to realizes they commited henious crimes, thus he swore to take revenge on them all. The problem? Some of the guild's members resembled characters taken from other isekai series, causing controversy. The manga was later on cancelled after just one chapter.

The Family Guy one was shameful but the DKC one is funny. Sonic was always terrible so it's always amusing to see it ridiculed.

On the Chimptopia example, I think it shows how being this petty can ultimately undermine what your trying to do
The show probably would’ve been forgotten about in a week or could’ve even found a fan base through time and development, but the creator immediately shot himself in the foot by trying to make his show seem better than Gameoverse, which only increased scrutiny on it
If you come out the gate bashing a popular show made by a well known indie studio, then you better have something incredible, as it already increases people’s expectations and criticism if it’s not up to snuff

Real Ghostbusters could be pretty darn petty about turning characters from other shows that got popular into ugly and troublemaking ghosts for the Ghostbusters to take care of.
