Hated Tropes (Hated Trope) False advertising

  1. The marketing makes it seem like the movie is about Austin (the unbreakable boy) who is autistic, but rather it's about his prick of a father who caused a drunk driving accident
  2. The talking kangaroo was included in all of the trailers and the main poster but was only a hallucination and was seen for like 30 seconds (Kangaroo Jack)

It's been a while but from what I remember originally there was a scene in the trailers where the dogs are talking to the human, which turned out to be a dream sequence but was presented as the dogs being able to talk throughout the movie.

The trailers made you think the dogs would be talking. The dogs don't talk except for one dream sequence.

I saw BOTH in theaters as a child, and think it destroyed my trust in marketing at an early age, so at least they had that going for them.

I actually like that movie. I think it was funny. I think it would be well received if it was advertised as comedy drama

I enjoyed the film as a kid, but we went and saw it because my grandmother wanted to see it for the talking dogs in every single commercial. That is in a very brief dream sequence and not indicative of the film as a whole. She was disappointed.
