Hated Tropes An adaptation completely botches the original theme and message

Mulan(2020)-They give Mulan superpowers which is not only lame it goes against the message of the original about equality and struggle, plus they removes Shang because apparently having Mulan date her superior was "problematic" even though Shang genuienely respected Mulan and their rank was never brought up

I am Legend(2007)-You know why the story is called "I am legend"? SPOILER ALERT the protagonist is the actual monster, humanity is gone and the vampires have a actual society and the protagonist kills and terrorize them

Animal Farm(2026)-On the very slim chance that Andy Serkis ever sees this, here's the thing Andy,Animal Farm was not a children work it was not supposed to have a happy ending, you never heard of cautionary tales before?

A major theme of the Halo games and novels is seeing how far someone is willing to go for survival, shown in how Master Chief and the other spartans are child soldiers who willingly accept their role as weapons and the last hopes of humanity

This falls apart in the Paramount show when Master Chief abandons the war against the covenant because he doesn’t like that he’s a child solider

My "favorite" part of the TV Series is how right after the bad haircut girl (I don't remember her name) got done doing shrooms in the forest and saying how she wants to abandon her home planet, watches her father get brutally murdered by the Covenant, then suddenly just becomes a die hard Insurrectionists against the UNSC (even though the Covenant killed her father, not the UNSC).

But why are the Insurrectionists even a thing in the TV Series? Because her father was told to do it by a bunch of desert witches.

But I don't want to adapt the source, I want to tell the story I've been working on for years!

Ya this didnt make any sense. Suddenly she cares deeply and wants to take up after her Dad. But, shes worthless the whole season and just complains

Then they take one of the coolest characters in the series, Soren, and make him just babysit wannabe insurrectionist Kwan-Ha for the entire season.

I think it’s even worse than that. In the original lore, I believe Catherine Halsey (the one in charge of the Spartan program) and captain Keyes talked about whether or not to use something to make the kids completely obedient to them like altering their memories or mind control. They rejected the idea on the off chance that if any of the Spartans ever recover their memories or break out of the mind control, there’s a high chance they’ll betray the UNSC. So they decided that the children will all be told the cold truth that they’ve been kidnapped and will never see their families ever again on day 1

A lot of Spartans see it as a necessary evil, and have accepted being child soldiers because humanity lives, and it would have fell and doom everyone to extinction if it wasn’t for the Spartans.

I don’t know about that. I remember they were basically kidnapped and replaced with clones that all quickly died. Then they were forced into brutal training and extensive surgeries that killed a good portion of them, all to have a good shot at putting down an insurrection. Not a whole lot of choice there. The Covenant stumbled upon humanity while looking for artifacts, and these super soldiers were the only ones not getting absolutely slaughtered.

While the initial recruitment wasn’t consented, the fact that John and the other’s were kidnapped for the purpose of being turned into super soldiers was never actually hidden from them and they grew to accept their new lives. In the show, they were brainwashed to forget about their past lives and the second the lie broke, Chief immediately jumped ship, presumably to let humanity to die to the covenant
