Hated Tropes An adaptation completely botches the original theme and message

Mulan(2020)-They give Mulan superpowers which is not only lame it goes against the message of the original about equality and struggle, plus they removes Shang because apparently having Mulan date her superior was "problematic" even though Shang genuienely respected Mulan and their rank was never brought up

I am Legend(2007)-You know why the story is called "I am legend"? SPOILER ALERT the protagonist is the actual monster, humanity is gone and the vampires have a actual society and the protagonist kills and terrorize them

Animal Farm(2026)-On the very slim chance that Andy Serkis ever sees this, here's the thing Andy,Animal Farm was not a children work it was not supposed to have a happy ending, you never heard of cautionary tales before?

Idk if this is the right name in English cause I only know the german name

The infinite story? (Die unendliche Geschichte)

Basically the movie ends after about half the book and thus looses the message that staying only in your fantasies isn't good either. Still a dope movie tho.

Sounds like the Neverending Story. Yeah the movie was indeed dope. Haven’t read the book yet though.

Ohhh yes exactly that one.The horse scene and the stone giants are still rent free in my head.

I've only seen a German guy explain the book with play figurines because we basically binged his channel in class once.

It’s a hard one to finish

Finally got around to reading this book about 3 years ago, and it was excellent! I was shocked and amazed when I got to the halfway point and realized "Oh...this is where the movie ends." I still enjoy the movie, but at the risk of beating a dead horse...the book is generally better.

Also, I love books with meta stuff in them, and the different colored fonts were so cool as you read the story.

The second movie covers the other half of the book, I think

It does not. The second one takes a few characters and some inspiration from it, but it doesn't do the book justice.

Ah, yea, that can happen.

? I don't even get the context you're trying to reply to

u/Royal_Bitch_Pudding 7d ago

You used "looses" instead of "loses".

1

u/Unnamed_jedi 7d ago

There's a difference huh? I didn't know that, thanks:D

Loose, as in "a screw is loose"

Lose, as in "if you don't tighten that screw you will lose it".

It's a really common spelling mistake these days thanks to autocorrect.

It’s not at all because of autocorrect. It’s because of poor education. Spelling “definitely” as “defiantly” is something that happens because of autocorrect (and poor education).

“Unendliche” would be “unending” in English. In the film’s case, they use “NeverEnding,” which isn’t a word, but a combination of two words that is a little easier to understand
