Hated Tropes An adaptation completely botches the original theme and message

Mulan(2020)-They give Mulan superpowers which is not only lame it goes against the message of the original about equality and struggle, plus they removes Shang because apparently having Mulan date her superior was "problematic" even though Shang genuienely respected Mulan and their rank was never brought up

I am Legend(2007)-You know why the story is called "I am legend"? SPOILER ALERT the protagonist is the actual monster, humanity is gone and the vampires have a actual society and the protagonist kills and terrorize them

Animal Farm(2026)-On the very slim chance that Andy Serkis ever sees this, here's the thing Andy,Animal Farm was not a children work it was not supposed to have a happy ending, you never heard of cautionary tales before?

Definitely The Electric State, the book has more eldritch horror tone that explores the consequences of mindless consumerism, humanity addiction to technology and corporate influences

Netflix and Russo Brothers however turned it into the most generic corporate marvel style buddy action movie that somehow cost as much to make as an Avenges movie, didn’t help either that it had a character that was basically a product placement as well as having the cast comprise of the most overcasted actors in Hollywood playing the exact same roles they already had done.

I have to add, it was considered so terrible that Kojima announced that he was going to watch it and then remained radio silent.

Even other bad/mediocre movies had him react like "I saw this movie", The Electric State WASN'T EVEN WORTH A TWEET AFTER WATCHING IT.

And they somehow got every actor in existence.

And put them in their most generic roles. Of course Alan Tudyk is the goofy robot. Of course Chris Pratt is the “funny” man child. Of course Giancarlo Esposito is the corporate villain. I like 2 out of 3 of these actors, but it’s incredibly lazy type casting.

Dont forget that Millie Bobby Brown is of course playing the young girl who’s seen as an outcast and of course Stanley Tucci plays the evil ceo/businessman.

the book struck me as a quiet contemplation whereas the adaption is a loud action movie. It almost couldn't be more at odds with the book.

I imagine there was an amazing script. Then the studio made suggestion after suggestion until it became exactly what they wanted.

What I personally hated about the movie is that the shots where sometimes recreated really well. The problem however was that they where terrified to linger on them for longer then a seconds.

You where never allowed to take in the arguably most mesmerizing thing about it. But, I will say this: at least the Netflix movie made people aware of the book.

Oh god don't remind me of this. Simon Stålenhag is my favourite contemporary artist, I really admire his work. I was so incredibly disappointed by this movie.
