Hated Designs [Hated Design] Fortnite Kicks are the most unnecessary addition to the game.

While yes, some are pretty cool, they shouldn't be in the game. I just don't like them. They kinda ruin a good looking skin especially with some of the kicks being way too large. And while I love Hazbin Hotel, those Alastor kicks are just disgusting. I've been in love with this game ever since 2020, man!

These are some of the most creative designs for the Greek gods I've ever seen. Ideas like Gaia being the earth in an extremely literal sense, the chaos of war being barely contained in Ares' armor, and Zeus being so big that he can only peer an eye into our world are just so fascinating.

Images in order:

  1. Apollo

  2. Hecate

  3. Hades

  4. Persephone

  5. Gaia

  6. Aphrodite

  7. Artemis

  8. Athena

  9. Ares (fully armored)

  10. Ares (uncontained)

  11. Zeus' eye

  12. Deimos and Phobos

Movie Hot take im sure, but i genuinely LOVE the Cybertronian design aesthetic from the Transformers Bayverse

These designs just SCREAM "giant mechanical alien". I adore how there's barely a hint of conventional robotic design here, with them looking strange and contorted and almost skeletal.

I especially like how the original Primes share a similar sort of design scheme while being way more hulking and structural, yet also somewhat gangly. They really look like they're high status beings from an even more ancient age, with the orange glow from within only adding to that.

6- The Fallen

Video Game The main characters in Mouse Pi for hire.

i really like hold a smile differences in their face and hair make them look so different not to mention I also love their outfits. I will admit Jack does look pretty generic especially when put next to other male mice in the game. I mean if you put him right next to one of them they look almost identical face wise if not completely identical face wise. That said I do really like his outfit and the cheese stick in his mouth. I also love how to despite John aka the short one more so resembling Mickey Mouse they were able to make him look pretty different from Mickey by giving him things like facial hair and a more bumpy snout combined with always visible teeth. This applies to all the shrews in general. I will admit a lot of other characters in the game do you blend in with each other face wise so it would be nice if in the future like say the DLC they gave the new characters more distinct designs maybe even with different ears.

Not the craziest design but I like it. The detail in stuff like his beard and veins is nice.

Anime Black Getter from Getter Robo Armageddon

What I really love about this mech's design is that it takes the round, tubby silhouette of Getter 1 and manages to make it seem genuinely threatening and gritty. Not like Getter 1 wasn't already cool in its own right, but it had a kinf of cuteness to it that is definitely not present in Black Getter. I also love the tattered cloak (mechs with cloaks are always sick), as well as the very organic-looking eyes and the asymmetry provided by the jagged blades on its left arm. The colour scheme and overall appearance also remind me of Batman in a really good way.

Video Game Pumpkaboo (Pokémon X and Y)

Should have saved this for halloween itself, but whatever.

Its a ghostly pumpkin mon, based on a jack o' lantern. I think its cool how the pumpkin body has 2 holes carved into it, and it can emmit light through them like a flashlight, as well as its multiple size gimmick (despite it and Gourgeist's physical appearances not changing much when this changes). I also adore its plump pudgy physique, as while its not completely spherical like Rowlet or Spheal, it comes close enough to matching their roundness.

Its cat-like face is also very cute, having 2 small yellow eyes and fangs that look fairly harmless (luckily no dex described them as vampires). The added brown puff on top of the pumpkin also helps keep it from being just a pumpkin with a face, and the idea of that part being based on black cats and/or bats helps further tie it to halloween.

Video Game Ema Skye - Ace Attorney Franchise

Really love Ema’s design. It’s not too complicated but it really shows both her scientific aspirations, a little bit of her overall boredom with…things, as well as just being a nice to look at design. Also keeps some of the iconic bits of her from her first appearance like the glasses

Also as a character she just rules. Wish we would see her and her sister paired up again, but in both Rise From the Ashes (my favourite case) and the Apollo Justice Trilogy, she’s just awesome. One of my favourites

I like seeing U.S. historical events portrayed by different countries. This Japanese portrayal of American history sounds like something from a badass manga and considering Japan opened to the west not that long before this was published

Comic Book Firestorm, The Nuclear Man!! (DC)

The vibrant yellow & red with the bright white logo is visually striking & I really like the way his headpiece looks with the flames coming off, I also like the shoulder flanges.

There's something called the Firestorm Matrix which is a title/connection that usually bonds two or more people together into a composite nuclear superhero sharing the experiences & memories of people who have entered it.

There has been multiple Firestorms including 2 similar but solo hosts named Firehawk & Hurricane but the most notable ones are Ronnie Raymore & Jason Rusch

Then there's Deathstorm, the undead Black Lantern version that switches out nuclear life and creation for anti-matter, death, and decay.

Video Game I like the vehicle designs in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

While some are modified from previous games, and crossover characters bring their original vehicle designs, I also quite like the original vehicle designs.

Forms that turn the appearance of certain characters into vehicles, or designs that literally turn recently revealed game consoles or arcade machines into vehicles are also fun. Besides those, I think the designs of various vehicles are really cool.

Video Game Follie (Warframe)

Thumbnail
gallery
1.4k Upvotes

I think Follie's design is a really unique one among your usual characters in mainstream games. Her design is mainly inspired by three things:

A Rorschach inkblot test: given her ink-control powers, her own face being similar to a Rorschach test, and her color palette being all black and white. Her head also vaguely resembles that of a lepidopteran.

A femme Pierrot clown: her helmet resembles the shape of those pointy hats worn by clowns, her shoes do too, and her monochrome scheme fits the "sad clown" character (with some references to Pennywise thrown in).

Even her chubby body fits in with the clown design, given that a lot of clowns wear extra clothes (or are actually fat) to appear bigger for comical purposes.

A paintress: her relationship with ink and her in-game skills are all related to Follie painting objects and bringing them to life. Her subtitle in game is "The Shadowgrapher" which is a drawing technique that involves the use of light and shadows.

Even the way you obtain her in-game is by playing a game of hide and seek while you paint pictures.

Her animations do show her merrier side despite her macabre appearance, showing she has confidence in her own image.

And honestly, I really like that she's a chubby woman and a sexy one at that. It can be a bit tiring seeing the same body type for female characters in media all the time.

Manga The Pierrot Man's from "Pierrot Man"

Thumbnail

I just finished reading this PEAK(okay, maybe not peak, but very great) of a manga, and what most captivated me about it is the clowns design. Something that was so on nose, but still had a hella good twist.

(Slides 1 to 3) The first Pierrot Man is one of my favorite clowns design OAT. Its so ridiculously simple, and yet so recognizable. It reminds me a lot of Art from Terrifier, with how brutal and yet charismatic the first Pierrot Man can be. Its design has just the most simple and re-used accessories of a clown, and yet it never takes away the "Disgusting" and "Scary" part of it. Everytime they're on screen, you know shit gonna blow up, and it always does.

(Slides 4 to 8) The black Pierrot Man is the most surprise i've had in a long time. Right when i thought the stakes were high enough, it escalates even more. Everytime the second Pierrot Man was on screen, i felt like i was being directly threatened by it. It also made me get really into Pierrot Man(manga). Reminded me a lot of Pennywise from It, with their way of playing games and such. But the most scary spot is reserved for the original one.

(Slides 8 to 10) The "original" Pierrot Man, Jinsei Todo. The one responsable for the creation of the clown and the author of the murder of many children. His design is pretty simple and straightforward, since he was officially a circus clown. But, when i looked at it, it just didn't felt right, y'know? The eyes, the stare, the posture. Everything about him screamed evil. Every page he was on, i felt that feeling of being watched from the dark, like a monster awaited in my closet or in under my bed. I think what really catches me is how he m's not some crazy guy looking for revenge. He's just a crazy psycho that takes great joy from torturing, abusing and killing children. That's why he's so scary. He reminded me of the case John Wayne Gacy.

(Slides 11 to 13) The red Pierrot Man is nothing really impressive, but still a good visual sight. I feel that, if the pages they were in were colored, i'd have felt more of the impact they truly had on the story and on the room with its presence. Nothing really impressive, but somewhat marking. It was good to see a less experienced Pierrot Man using its "powers" for the first time, felt like they were truly human and not some monsters.

(Slides 14 to 15) The One-Eyed Pierrot Man... exists. Yeah, can't really say much about it. They appear kinda late on the story, don't have much of a focus and just serve as the goons of the main villain. Their design sure is good, i guess, but nothong really memorable. Their serve their purpose, and then leave.

(Slides 16 to 17) The Multi-Eyed Pierrot Man, Jinsei Todo. Gotta say, it was a big surprise, but knowing the other works of Honda Shingo(author of Pierrot Man), you'd expect a giant monster to appear one hour or other(Read the first part of Hakaijuu. Just the first one). I really liked how it had a more expressive mouth and how its eyes never felt like they were alive, but more like cameras, and i really liked the way they dealt with this threat. I wish it was estabilished sooner, like showing a giant Pierrot Man suit to hint at it, but given horse does not look at the teeth(English isnt my first language, so i dont know if thats how its said in English).

So far, a pretty good read and a pretty good manga. I did my best to put as little spoilers i could to motivate you reading to go check it out. It recently got an official translation, and its now completed in English.

Video Game Terra/Tina Branford (Green Hair) from Final Fantasy VI

Thumbnail

Even though this version of her design is based off her sprite coloration rather than Yoshitaka Amano's blonde concept art, I've always been more comfortable with Terra having Technicolor hair. It sells her more easily as only half-human, let alone someone who hails from an inherently magical race. Color theory also plays a role: because red and green are directly opposite on the color wheel from one another, that's where the contrast is strongest. The occasional traces of lavender create a smooth dividing line between these halves.

If you want me to accept her as having natural-tone hair, then it'd have to be after magic vanishes from the world.

One of my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! archetypes, and that's partly due to its excellent design. Each character is quite unique, but they share a colorful, circus-like aesthetic that I simply love.

Comic Book Lament from the Kai-Sei Godzilla comics (IDW)

You know it's not every day you see a Kaiju with a human mind attached to it and honestly the design is really rad (and horrifying)

i love the fact it doesn't look like a traditional kaiju in the godzilla universe more like a demon you'd see in a anime or something yet the more details you get about her the more horrifying her design becomes such as the black parts of her skin possibly being her original skin warped and mangled into a unreconizable form especially thanks to her experiments with Kai-sei and the grey armor perhaps being spots where her bones are jutting out

the skeletal look also feels intentional given her backstory of once being human like she is a mangled and warped corpse given the form and stature of a Kaiju yet her mad scientist brain remains

it's honestly a extremely cool design (also you can tell it's very much inspired by Monster X But with very different context then that design)
