Anime Could Oct. 31 be when we get a release date for season 2? Crunchyroll updated the duration.

Could this be a mistake or a sign that we’ll get a release date for season 2? I’ve read that we’re getting an update for the anime on Oct. 31.

General / Discussion This was actually more impressive than I realized.

Volume 6 spoilers just in case. Plus minor 8 & 8.5 spoiler.

I actually didn't really think about it but he managed to beat the average boy's time for the 100 meters in just about two weeks. That includes Lemon possibly beating her own personal best, which is pretty impressive considering that he majorly neglected physical activity.

He was originally given about three weeks but he was lost on how to run for the first day, was sore and sprained his ankle for the next few days then was doing stretches under the former Prez's supervision until he only had two weeks left to properly train for the showdown.

I wonder how much he would've improved had he actually kept going at the routine that the former Prez created for him. Volume 8 showed that he mostly ended up neglecting physical activity again while during the obstacle course aside from riding his bike to school.

From what's been stated in Volume 8.5, while talking with Lemon's mother, his family seems to all be super healthy. Going by how quickly he improved, it's safe to say that Nukumizu comes from a pretty physically impressive family.

Is my thinking flawed or is this a weird point that was overlooked because of the constant instances where he gets overpowered by the cast?

Just like when she was asleep in his bed in vol 8.5. Maybe she wants him to take a good, long look.

General / Discussion Makeine anime movie

If Makeine ever get a anime movie in the future which volume do you think is most suitable to be adapted into a movie?

I personally think that volume 6 is the most suitable one because this volume have everything you will expect from a movie, it has romance, drama, character training arc, huge character development and a dramatic ending. I mean wouldn't y'all love to see Kazu running in track on the the big screen. This volume is absolute cinema, but too bad we will never see this adapted into a movie because it's going to be in the season 2 of the anime.

Tell me if you agree or not and, which volume of Makeine is most suitable to be adapted into a movie according to you, tell me in the comments

(I haven't read volume 9 yet so please refrain from giving any spoilers)

Light Novel Yakishio won't be going far away.

where will she go?

As far as I know, I'm the one who first suggested Lemon would be moving far away after winning the Nationals. It has a poetic ring to it, and since it suits the wishes of the agenda people, the idea widely became accepted.

But recently I realized something. Lemon may not be moving far away from Nukkun after all. She doesn't have to.

Once Lemon wins the Nationals, Lemon can pick and choose among Universities with strong sports programs across Japan, and be offered scholarships to all of them. She can even transfer between them provided she does not overdo it.

For example, if she chooses to enter a University early and skip her senior year in Tsuwabuki, There is Toyohashi Sozo University right next door.

Supposedly after he graduates from Tsuwabuki, his parents have ordered him to move far away for college, in order to separate him from Kaju. He may wind up going to college in Nagoya or Tokyo. I don't believe this will actually work on Kaju, and it may even backfire. Kaju would probably drop out of high school to be with onii-sama since she is that much of a brocon and really is that insane. So it is likely the parents will have to drop their ultimatum, in order to avoid a worse result. Kaju only chose Tsuwabuki in the first place to be near her brother.

And whether Kazu goes to a local college, or one in Nagoya or Tokyo, Lemon can simply transfer and follow him, if she still wants to be near him. Both Nagoya and Tokyo have several Universities with strong sports programs. Like Waseda University in Shinjuku, which also has programs in english and in Japanese literature. Lemon, Komari, and Nukkun can all pursue sports or literature in Waseda, if they want to.

(There is a famous statue of the founder of Waseda university, which holds a secret.)

I would have tried to loop Anna into Waseda as well, but unfortunately we still have no information about what she wants to do or where she wants to go in the future, besides getting married. Why is this such a big secret? I hope we won't be disappointed.

General / Discussion Is Hitoro Sakurai Nukumizu's male best friend? Spoiler

I was reading Chapter 1 of Volume 8 of the light novel, and I just realized that lately, he’s the only male friend Nukumizu turns to for help when he has problems. All the other male characters, like Ayano, only show up occasionally and don't interact with Nukumizu all that much. I think Sakurai is the male friend Nukumizu relies on the most—if he even has any others.

Light Novel Interpretations of the Shadow from Volume 8

I’ve wanted to write this post for a long time. I have a few interpretations regarding the "shadow" that Nukumizu saw. Let me state right away that I’m not claiming my interpretation is the definitive one; every opinion has its place.

Most of these ideas relate to Yanami, though one is a bit of a stretch, albeit an interesting one. Let’s start with the interesting one. You’re likely familiar with Carl Jung and his concept of the "unconscious." Within that framework, there is the concept of the "Shadow" (the Shadow represents the collection of suppressed, unacceptable, or unconscious aspects of one's personality. It forms in childhood: a child learns which feelings, desires, and actions are "good" and which are "bad," repressing the latter into the unconscious. As a person ages, the Shadow accumulates everything about themselves that they cannot accept). Perhaps this is why Nukumizu couldn't accept Tiara's confession—because he doesn't fully accept himself and doesn't view himself as a worthy person. We often see in his monologues how he underestimates himself and compares himself unfavorably to others who excel in specific areas. He frequently says he isn't a suitable match for the girls, believing they are too good for him and that he isn't on their level. I wouldn't be surprised if, asked to describe himself, Nukumizu failed to mention a single positive trait, focusing instead entirely on the negative. Generally speaking, Japanese authors love incorporating Carl Jung's ideas into their work.

I also agree with many others here that the "shadow" is, in fact, Yanami. This isn't just because Nukumizu is unaware of his feelings for her(though that is certainly a factor) but also because she embodies the archetype of the "losing heroine"; she is the very person Nukumizu labels a "losing heroine" at the start of the story. It’s as if her shadow serves as a warning regarding Tiara’s fate. I also get the impression that Nukumizu is afraid of hurting Tiara, just as Sosuke hurt Yanami. Nukumizu witnessed Yanami’s suffering and tears over her unrequited love. At the same time, he wants to avoid repeating that same pattern of ambiguity and unspoken feelings; he knows a serious conversation with Tiara is necessary and is preparing for it(much like Sosuke and Yanami, though both of them ultimately shied away from it.)
