Other As a Therapist, Tokyo Ghoul is the Best Manga I've Ever Read
I JUST finished Tokyo Ghoul on Monday. I have to say, as a therapist, and from a therapeutic perspective, I think Tokyo Ghoul is the best manga I've ever read, and lands easily in the top 5 stories I've ever encountered. I'm blown away by how competently and intelligently this story handled topics like trauma, systemic violence, oppression, the cyclical nature of abuse, and the spiral of revenge as Ishida calls it. Even :re is doing a shockingly accurate job of depicting Parts Theory (IFS) so far, when Haise talks to his "inner child". I don't think I've ever seen an anime or manga that depicts people or human behavior this accurately (barring some hyperbole, obviously). Ishida REALLY understands the brain.
