I bought a T3X Lite in 7mm PRC as a do it all backpack hunting and long range practice gun! I’m aware that a higher recoil, lightweight, long action might not have been the best choice to learn the game on. Probably should’ve got a 6.5 cr. or other 6mm round to start.

Just unboxed it, cleaned and lubed the action. Threw an EGW 20 MOA Pic rail, SRS full length hunters rail (since I’ll be shooting off a tripod, bag, and backpack mostly), and a Nightforce NX8 2.5-20 on it since thats what I had laying around.

Anything else I should add to it? Considering a brake since I have a threaded barrel model and I can’t purchase a suppressor where I live.
Also looking to upgrade to a chassis eventually, but want to take some time to learn the gun for this season so that I can learn what needs I would like a chassis to fulfill.

Any advice for a new distance shooter and what to do with a brand new bolt action rifle?

How is spotting shots with a 6.5cm? Looking to get something with less recoil than my 7RM for spotting shots and deer and black bear hunting.

If you can spot shots, what scope do you use?

Does anyone have a bipod that will mount to a Tikka T3x lite? I see the one that Tikka makes but it doesn’t stay on and has to be removed when not in use.

Background / context:
Looking to buy my first rifle with a bonus before the EOM. After some research Tikka has come out as the "if you can spring for it, get it" pick. Split time between TX and Colorado and I'm looking to finally join some friends for my first hunting trip this year. Given the location I'm thinking white tail deer will be the most common hunt, but want the option to hunt for elk or moose if the opportunity arises.

(^This is why I'm currently leaning towards a rifle in 308 but I'm open to hearing other thoughts.)

I'm looking at possibly getting an Ace Target in 6.5 CM and was wondering what barrel contours will fit in the chassis when I rebarrel in the future.

Does anyone have the clearance of the factory barrel to the chassis at the start and end of the forend?

a good amount reducing recoil. it for thick brush hunting, so something not bulky

okay, what the actual HELL do i need to do to get any aics mags to work in my t3x with mdt field stock?

Tried magpul, had issues which seemigly are well documented that i somehow missed. Sanded down the feed lips to get them to work by the 10 round doenst work anymore because its too flexy and the rounds push out.

Got one 5 round magpul that i got to work, and have been dealing with.

"okay, i need to invest in an MDT metal mag i guess, because surely that will work."

NOPE. 5 round SA metal mag just arrived, it doesnt lock in. so fucking annoying.

New to Tikkas. I went to a big box store and played around with the tikka action and really enjoyed it. They had the more base model guns not the super varmint.

I had my local dealer order me in a super varmint. The gun is very accurate but the action is just disappointing. It’s okay just doesn’t feel like a 2,000$ rifle.

Anyone have this experience?

I just got a TX3 CTR (see attached stock photo) for my 12 year-old son for hunting and need to raise the comb 1/2" above the current comb height. I know that Tikka is the LEGO of rifles so I'm hoping that there is some type of cheek riser that would "snap on" or attach to the current outline of the molded cheek riser on the stock. The back up is to go with the old trusty wrap-around system but I'm not sure how well that would work since the comb isn't flat. Any suggestions for those would also be appreciated.

At this point, I'm not eager to go with another stock or chassis. Maybe after this season.

In case you're curious, this is not his first rifle. He's been shooting since he was 6 years old and has already taken deer on his own.

and if so, what's recoil impulse like and accuracy. I'm looking at tikka t3x laminated stainless in 9.3x62 20" for whitetail deer black bear mainly. and moose once in a while.

Issue is the 20 moa rail misaligning the two what is a recommended 0 moa rail to put on so that I don’t mistakingly buy one that will come loose and throw off zero any advice is appreciated

Don't be. Finally got mine the other day, went down to the range, did my entire shoot clean shoot clean process while "zeroing" in. Then this first 10 round group. On its own, thats nothing to shake a stick at.

The thing that I'm excited about is that its with my reloads for my other rifle, my shooting position kinda sucked, I was sort of in a hurry and not really focused on the best group ever, and I had some mirage on the last 2-3 shots because of suppressor. Thats why I shot ten, to make sure it isn't a fluke. Well, it isn't. Barrel isn't even settled yet. Done with load development lol. I think all my rifles from here on out will be Tikkas. If anyone has any questions about it just ask. Getting my hands on it, its actually a better rifle than I expected, and for the price I expected quite a bit. Other than a folding stock, I just dont see what else youd want. Rifle balances perfectly.

I am looking for 10 round ctr magazine pouches (preferably kydex) for a belt for PRS that are cheap if anyone has any ideas. Not looking to spend the price of a magazine to hold it.

My first hunting rifle and first Tikka. T3X in stainless steel, .270 win, threaded, left handed. Was looking for a basic, but reliable setup. SWFA 3-9, Unknown Munitions rings, limb saver and a basic sling. Looking into cans atm but wanted to get something for deer/elk here in PNW. Currently using Barnes 130g TTSX. Got her zeroed in and excited for this season.

I was adjusting the trigger pull on my T3X and put it back together. There's some play between the barrel and stock. Is this normal?

I was watching some vides online of the gun being assembled and disassembled and in most of the videos the barrel clicks into the stock. Mine didn't. In fact before screwing it in, there is some rock back and forth. I should have checked this before I took it apart.

I thought maybe missing the recoil lug, but it's there and the barrel is resting on it as it should. Not sure if I'm missing something, but this seems not right.

Is proof the go to for a carbon pre fit?

What others brands should be considered?

Made a post yesterday asking what people are using for ammo in their .223 REM and some controversy over firing 5.56 in the rifle came up. I would like to know the communities opinions on the topic. Do you do it? Have you ever experienced or witnessed a failure because of it?

Does anyone know where to find a shouldered prefit for a Tikka t3x in 22cm in a light contour for hunting that is not a custom order? Ideally it would be in a matte black finish, but if I can get one in stainless I wouldn't be too disappointed.

Took the T3x out for the first time to zero and see how it likes the Hornady 140gr American Gunner I got for a good deal. Overall happy with the 5 round groups at 100. First one is right after zero and the 2nd was after a barrel cool down. Does anyone have experience replacing the stock CTR rail for a 20 MOA version? Had to dial 15 mils up to zero. Target grids in photo are in .1 mrad.

First rifle I got when I was 7, just recently got back into hunting the last few years and made a few upgrades along the way. Leupold vx5 hd 3-15x, tbac Magnus S cb can, gunwerks elevate ti bipod.
Any recommendations on cheek risers? Leather ones look like a pain, but painful to drill holes through my precious lol.
