Not believing that he used to date the woman who was “so pretty” then saying that she is sure he has a “nice personality” and topping it off with “nah, you’re cute though” only to then hit the button anyway is a sly way of saying “I’m not attracted to you.” She doesn’t have to find him attractive but the way she did it was disingenuous. Just be honest and say you don’t find him pretty. Too many people are just “performative nice” these days.
In short, yes, he got “roasted.” It was just subtle backhanded compliment.
Idk how to tell you this but you can find someone cute/pretty without being attracted to them. He’s a good looking guy and seems pretty chill but she’s probably just not interested
Why are so many people defending her? I’m a girl and this was backhanded af and one thing I’m gonna say is… sometimes girls do this when they Are attracted to you like their brain freezes and it irritates them that someone can be so smooth and confident so their response is “well I’m nonchalant and cool too and I don’t care about you”
And I say this from experience too, I’m not like this anymore these days but back in hs there was a guy I was crushing on hard but I literally did nothing but throw subtle jabs I have no idea why, thankfully I’m more secure myself now
There are people who I think are attractive, but I'm not necessarily attracted to them. Her calling him cute isn't necessarily disingenuous.
A lot of people view rejection while dating as a sign that there's something wrong with them, but there were plenty of times where I rejected someone not because they were flawed, but because they just weren't right for me. Dating is about compatibility; like I have plenty of friends that are wonderful, but that doesn't mean we would work together if we were dating.
(Obviously, sometimes rejection can be in response to a perceived flaw, and you still want to be introspective. But it's often not the case.)
Honestly seems like the girl on his phone is really hot and it made her feel insecure and then all of her behavior afterwards is due to that insecurity.
Its a show that farms bits like this to generate the exact kind of response your giving. This isn't a real interaction. It literally is performative content. Its just outrage engagement.
First of all you are making a pretty extreme assumption that's what she meant. As others noted, the exchange seems to be in good fun. Not nearly as mean spirited as you think. Still waiting for the "roast".
It’s an accidental roast. What else would you call it? Nobody’s saying it was necessarily what she meant or that it was devastating. It was just a funny miscommunication
Do you think roasts are only mean spirited or something? Have you never seen or heard of a roast, where basically everyone is laughing, including the target?
I mean, I would argue that IS what she meant but I also don’t think that counts as a “roast” 🤷🏼♂️ especially from a random stranger that has no consequence on his life lol if he enjoys how he looks, then that’s what matters. Also, clearly he’s attractive enough to get laid. Just not this woman’s type. Not that deep or hurtful.
Your response and thought process seems pretty naive to the world and people’s minds.
I mean, I agree that that's what she probably meant. I also agree that this isn't a roast. Young people (Gen Alpha and younger Gen Z) aren't growing up with Comedy Central Roast or other roasts, so they don't know what the word actually means.
It's a fairly old quip, when seeing a couple where one of them is considered unattractive, to suggest there is a reason they must be together besides their looks. Usually it goes.
"Let me see a picture of her... oh.... she must be REALLY funny."
Whether or not that is the intent of the person in this video I'll no idea, but it's not an unreasonable interpretation upon hearing her say "You probably have the nicest personality."
Although the video is so cut up, it's hard to make any conclusion with certainty.
I think you may not be realizing that getting “roasted” isn’t always a bad thing. That’s why best friends roast each other, even publicly on highly televised events. Roasting can be a sign of endearment. Just because she roasted him, it doesn’t mean something “bad” happened.

Did he get roasted though?
