Great question! Men’s suits are cut to fit bodies that don’t tend to have hips or wider butts, and cis guys tend to have broader shoulders. On trans guys that isn’t going to give you the silhouette you’d expect on a guy in a suit. If you size up to get it to hang right, it’s gonna look baggy. If you make it fit correctly, you’re gonna emphasize stuff you don’t want to emphasize.
There are tailors who can help and at least one suit company that specializes in suits for trans men, but they’re expensive (obvs).
The narrow shoulders thing is the real killer. Narrow shoulders, even in cis guys, often gives the "kid wearing their dad's suit" look, unless your suit is tailored by someone who knows what they're doing.
Indochino does custom suits, my SIL had one made for my wedding. It was about $1,000, but if you can swing the price that isn't too bad for a well-made suit that will last ages and can be worn for job interviews, funerals, etc.
Short cis guys exist. Cis guys with big guts very much exist. Cis guys with wider hips or smaller shoulders. Weirdly skinny cis guys exist. Cis guys with short legs and long bodies or any other combo exist
Getting a properly tailored suit is absolutely not something unique to trans guys. I mean hell just look at Trump.
The word ‘tend’ was used very much in purpose, you might be fascinated to learn that there being exceptions to the norm doesn’t mean the norm doesn’t exist
All those guys exist. It's just much rarer for a cis guy to be ALL those things at the same time: short, wider hips, narrow shoulders. And yeah, obviously they struggle with fit too.
I guess my point is really just that "average trans guy" already falls easily within the range of "normal" cis guy variation. Suits and suit tailoring already caters for the massive variation in male builds. Its why such big emphasis is already placed on suit tailoring and why phrases such as "all over me like a cheap suit" exist. Suit fitting is a general guy problem, really, trans and cis.
I really don't think meant any harm with explanation. There are cis men who has these issues but majority of the male population doesn't. The same can be said for women. We all come unique in way
