holy shit. that makes a whole lot of sense now! ive always wondered why FTM trans always choose the male aesthetic of like 15-20 years ago (speaking as a millennial here).
mtf and currently hot topic mall goth maxxing. i feel more alive than i ever have when thereโs enough zippers on me to audition as an extra in kingdom hearts
The fuck is it with trans people and goth phases lol??? Every trans person I know had a goth phase pretty soon into being openly out.
I'm cis, my younger sister's trans, and we're both following old trends we couldn't when we were younger for many reasons, though her reasons are slightly different to mine. My trend is somewhere between scene and whatever it was that had those fuckass knee-high converse, and hers, naturally, is goth. I'm not sure if it's trad goth or mall goth yet, but she looks so cool imo.
I've never felt embarrassed that I'm discovering myself in my young adulthood, because my sister is too. We're just (very) late bloomers, is all.
Edit: fucked up terminology, am NOT misgendering my sister lol
it's genuinely really confusing if you get started a bit later too, because you basically speed run learning fashion and thus go through all the cringy clothing phases first before you figure out how to dress yourself as an adult of your age.
I think we all do tbh. I still have some of my skirts and certain tops that don't work for me hoping for the day when I eventually get surgery done I can actually wear em ๐ฎโ๐จ
LOL, my brother (who is in mid mid-sixties) goes to Burning Man every year and just discovered Axe Body Spray for reasons any one who has ever been knows and identifies with, but now this has also become his daily, non-Burning Man cologne.
His wife suggested it and it is funny because they doesn't know the history so he goes around smells like a 14-year-old boy.
It's always funny when trans men get upset that trans women take up a lot of the cultural zeitgeist because of course the men would make it about them lol

True, that's how you know he's actually a man.
