So no evidence of a racially motivated crime… the kid accidentally drowned and because his friends are white they assume it was a racist crime? What the fuck is this world

127

u/Tincastle 1d ago edited 1d ago

People/Reddit wanted this to be a racially motivated crime so badly.

People can’t comprehend that he most likely was super intoxicated, it was getting dark, convinced himself he can swim back to shore, and accidentally drowned.

49

u/TrailerCash 1d ago

Could be anything. Even as simple as “Not feeling well after drinking in the sun all day, went off away from people to wade in and puke, stepped into an unexpected drop off”.

2

u/randleshandle 15h ago

Puking waist deep probably feels so nice

22

u/WeCantStabilize 18h ago

The demand for white on black racial crimes is so high liberals will do their best to manufacture it.

What Hailey is doing is extremely dangerous. Spreading misinformation and creating more racial tension.

85

u/Blue_Wave_2020 1d ago

And she gets cheered for it too. It’s disgusting

15

u/Putrid-Builder-3333 1d ago

Tbf I am sure between all those cheering and Hailey's nonsense the IQ is still double digits. They aren't gonna do anything constructive and most l ikely forget what name she said before they get home.

39

u/Friendly-Rice7351 1d ago

Bro there's tons of people in this sub and thread who would be cheering as well. Misinformation like this isn't just something you brush off in 2026. We can't move forward as a society w shit like this.

8

u/No_Blacksmith_8852 20h ago

These are people whose primary source of news and information is a TikTok algorithm designed to make them upset and angry.

9

u/obibonkajovi 1d ago

it's criminal and should be treated as such.

2

u/Plastic-Mushroom-571 2h ago

Even Ms. Rachel was spreading the lynching conspiracy theory. Absolutely disgusting.

5

u/Cultural-Treacle-680 11h ago

Fair game for a defamation lawsuit too.

11

u/CausticAvenger 15h ago

The internet was heavily analyzing pics of Nolan with his friends and coming up with all sorts of theories as to how and why they killed him. That shit really doesn’t sit right with me until we have evidence a crime was committed.

45

u/iffyClyro 1d ago

That’s what I took from the article but I don’t know anything about this case. This is the first time hearing about it.

Certainly doesn’t read like a KKK lynching.

16

u/Cliffinati 1d ago

Also nobody saw any klansmen..... Even if the boys he was with did kill him they aren't in the klan

Haley Williams, while talented, seems to jump onto whatever social bandwagon she can. Sad, but she doesnt do any research

2

u/thelandofwine 10h ago

Remember when she was Christian, and then not Christian? 💀

7

u/SteakAndIron 1d ago

Seems like dude got drunk and fell out of a boat. Tragic.

-4

u/bwavy 1d ago

There was no water found in his body and he had blunt force trauma wounds present at the autopsy.

9

u/SweetLittleOldLady 13h ago

"Blunt force trauma" does not appear anywhere in the grand jury report or either autopsy. The official autopsy mentions a couple of minor bruises. The private autopsy mentions superficial redness. Both autopsy reports made it clear that these very minor injuries did not contribute to his death. Ben Crump was the one who first stated that there was "blunt force trauma" and he was obviously trying to exaggerate the findings and spread misinformation.

12

u/glo-unit 1d ago

He had two small bruises that neither pathologist who performed autopsies thought led to his death.

9

u/Holiday-Fix-9244 15h ago

No, the autopsies show some redness. Nowhere do these autopsy reports say “blunt force trauma” anywhere. You are exaggerating the details of a case to sell a more salacious story to people more illiterate than you

53

u/Blue_Wave_2020 1d ago edited 1d ago

Drowning victims don’t always have excess water in their lungs. And you don’t think the blunt trauma wounds could have been from him, idk, tripping and hitting his head?

There have literally been multiple coroners that said he drowned. Unless you think his friends beat and drowned him?

→ More replies (12)

32

u/I_am_atom 1d ago

Pretty normal for people who drowned to not have water in their lungs.

So whether or not his death was racially motivated, the KKK was not involved.

33

u/TexasRed806 17h ago

They haven’t determined if his death was even foul-play, let alone if his race played into anything at all.

19

u/SweetLittleOldLady 14h ago

The grand jury actually did make an official determination. After an extensive investigation, there was absolutely no evidence of foul play.

The phrase "beautiful black people" feels like a parody of terminally online 2010's slacktavism

14

u/Nervous-Road6611 21h ago

Agreed. I didn't know who Nolan Wells was, so I just looked him up. There was no lynching, definitely no KKK, and no evidence of foul play of any kind.

3

u/PotatoePotato26 11h ago

Wild how she doesn't realize spouting nonsense like this does nothing but make other genuine things she says look less trustworthy.

49

u/JudasSpear 1d ago

This⬆️💯 As much as I hear these entertainers use other peoples trauma to gain attention, there’s little talk about how they make millions and do nothing with it to help society. Wanna make a change, build a school or clinic in a poverty stricken community without acknowledgment for doing so with the overpriced ticket sales made from playing songs from 10 years ago when you had actual relevance

51

u/jayne-eerie 1d ago

Yeah, I’m really over performative advocacy. This does nothing to help anyone.

u/XxCloudSephiroth69xX 1d ago

There's enough actual racism and murder to go around without having to invent new hate crimes where there's no evidence of them existing.

68

u/lightyearbuzz 1d ago

Ya this whole situation feels really like racism from the people claiming it was a lynching. Like "how could white kids be friends with a black kid? They must have killed him" Really fucked up.

I feel pretty bad for those kids, they already lost their friend, now they're being accused of murdering him because they have different skin colors.

40

u/Inevitable-Plant8986 1d ago

They didn’t get to attend his funeral because of death threats. Think they will befriend another black guy? Thanks Ben Crump for advancing racism even more.

10

u/ABC_Family 1d ago

Honestly… it feels like any man with the slightest “privilege” is guilty until proven innocent now. It’s backwards and dangerous. I truly believe these kids deserve compensation for the way media is handling this.

Saying the word “allegedly” and then presenting every other piece of reporting as if they are already guilty should not exonerate them. Same with another high profile case going on right now, it’s even more egregious.

4

u/anonymousx97 1d ago

That’s how it is now unfortunately . It’s exhausting

2

u/Massive_Series8305 1d ago

True, its insane and obviously so biased, I have yet to see a single shred of evidence this guy was murdered

Just like how people think the Lindsay Clancy husband did it, like a single shred of evidence would help

You can't just feel a way to a conviction

2

u/djambates75 1d ago

Is there any evidence at all?

6

u/TrailerCash 19h ago

There are anecdotes that sound kind of convincing, if you don’t look into it at all. And people just repeat them and re-repeat them.

“They left him on an island” He wasn’t alone on an abandoned island. Their boat was sinking, he wanted to stay, and had other ways to get back.

“They had his phone” Normal behavior when out on a boat with no service all day. And again, boat was sinking and had to leave, they didn’t have time to distribute cell phones.

“No water in his lungs so therefore he didn’t drown” Not what that means. The autopsy concluded there was no trauma, poison, or anything else leading to death. So how was he murdered? Don’t mention any of that, just the water.

“Data was deleted off his phone after the boat left” Automatically within Snapchat, he was the last one to unlock the phone.

Etc etc.

1

u/so_sic_of_it 1d ago

There are a lot of feelings, and that's better than evidence.

9

u/Cliffinati 1d ago

Supply isn't meeting demand.

Why can't we mourn this kid who died in a terrible accident without trying to make it some racial hate crime.

36

u/Kenny_RogersRoasters 1d ago

And nobody calls her out this. It’s maddening. She is literally just making this up.

2

u/Aspie_Gamer 13h ago

Oh people do in fact call her out on her faux-gressive nonsense, only we get torn a new hole by her rabid fanbase who believe she can do no wrong.

4

u/Gullible_Ingenuity_ 1d ago

I can’t help but feel like this is all related to the elections coming up. I swear that’s when all the fake hate crimes happen

4

u/Pathetian 17h ago

Similar string of events happened in 2020.  A bunch of "lynchings" of black people that were pretty obviously suicides, eventually culminating in one where activists actually accused a bunch of teenagers of lynching a classmate.

Of course none of the activists apologized, none of the celebrities that promoted the hoax were held accountable in any way.  Even Kamala Harris who said the federal government needed to investigate the incidents, never mentioned it once she got in the white house.

1

u/Aspie_Gamer 11h ago

DING DING DING!!!

Whether its mid-terms or, more specifically, a presidental election, its grifting season for obnoxiously woke activists eager to spread the lie that American is more "racist", "sexist", or "queerphobic" than it actually is.

2

u/drewtopia_ 19h ago

evidence of foul play isn't emerging and attention is starting to wane so crump has pivoted to the guy who fell off a roller coaster and passed away

1

u/Holiday-Fix-9244 15h ago

He’s already on the case of the guy who fell out of the roller coaster yesterday 🙄

1

u/Top-Woodpecker6696 1d ago

Well said. I’m sure she could easily browse the local news stories and find a new tragedy to highlight on each stop of her tour. By all means, let’s support transparency and continue to investigate leads—but saying Nolan Wells was lynched by the KKK is peak white woman main character syndrome.

→ More replies (1)

48

u/Forsaken-Sale7672 1d ago

Another beautiful Black person the KKK has lynched in the last two years.

I’m not sure she’s super informed on this issue.

Really seems like she’s confusing the news coverage around hangings with Nolan Wells, because there was nothing related to a lynching or KKK involved in his case.

5

u/TexasRed806 17h ago

She’s evidently very misinformed. And this is why we shouldn’t put every single social/political issue on the backs of celebrities to use their platform and influence to champion a movement.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/Youthz 1d ago

a lynching is an extrajudicial killing carried out by a mob — it doesn’t actually have to be a hanging although that’s what we typically associate the word with

16

u/Blue_Wave_2020 1d ago

And it’s still not what happened

9

u/Youthz 1d ago

to be clear: i wasn’t saying it was

1

u/Aerographic 6h ago

The assumption activists make is that a black person is guilty of existing in the mind of racist people, and thus any time any black person dies they're being lynched.

I'll let you judge the logic of that.

56

u/Twisbi 1d ago

I think this is all gotten to be a bit much

The demand for progressive social causes to be performative for, far exceeds the supply of them. Thats why we see controversy invented in cases like these.

37

u/ThickSwordfisher 1d ago edited 1d ago

I've never had much for this lady, honestly. She hit the lottery. Beautiful, talented, landed a dream record deal as a teenager still in high school, incredibly successful and wealthy.

But she still gets on stage and runs her mouth about stuff she clearly knows nothing about. I would think that being from Mississippi and growing up in Tennessee she would know that it's far more complicated down here than that, but I guess she's been away too long. Really Hayley? The fucking KKK lynched him? Where the hell did you see anything even remotely suggesting that? Do better.

You would think she would understand our history better. She would understand what a lynching is, and that is not a word you throw around lightly. To suggest that is what happened carries some serious weight and implications about us, Ocean Springs, those boys, and everything else.

I'm not saying the KKK isn't here anymore, and I'm not saying there aren't still racial problems in the South. Of course there are. But this disconnected from reality stance that people who have no connection to us, or have distanced themselves from us take is disrespectful and irresponsible.

People like her and Ms Rachel using their platforms to spout uninformed and incorrect things do not help. They and everyone else around this case have tainted that boy's memory with this circus because they would rather look down their nose at us and call us all racists rather that look at the facts.

Ain't it Fun?

17

u/iMakeBestTacos_ 1d ago

he wasnt lynched?

Nolan Wells’ official cause and manner of death remain undetermined, though multiple autopsies and a Mississippi grand jury found his body’s condition and location were consistent with drowning, making drowning the most likely explanation.

Summary of Findings

  • State Medical Examiner: Classified the cause and manner of death as undetermined after Wells was found face‑down in the water at Horn Island. No fatal injuries or internal trauma were identified. Yahoo
  • Independent Autopsy: Also ruled the cause and manner of death inconclusive, noting minor bruising but no definitive fatal injury. abcnews.com
  • Grand Jury Conclusion: After reviewing extensive evidence and testimony, the grand jury found no criminal wrongdoing and stated that the position, condition, and discovery location of the body were consistent with drowning. Yahoo
  • Witness Accounts: A witness reported seeing Wells slip “awkwardly” off a boat on July 4, though it was unclear whether he hit his head. The bruising found was deemed nonfatal. usaherald.com

u/BB808BB 1d ago

Omg people are just stupid.

As soon as I hear someone posting “crump is playing chess not checkers” or “they were doing a ritual” I roll my eyes and realize it’s just idiots.

His mother should be ashamed of herself. He didn’t even live with her. She’s too busy making money off his name and twerking. I find it highly offensive that people compare her to Emmit Tills mom.

People are foolish to think a whole bunch of teenagers and the whole town are all keeping secrets and protecting each other. lol please with all the death threats and people acting insane someone would have spilled a long time ago to be the “hero”

The mother sure doesn’t want his phone out. I wonder what was on it because it must’ve not been good for her. She is lucky his friends out of respect for Nolan still haven’t spilled what a shit mother she was.

Every time I hear the brainless swear they did something with his phone, I always think if that was the case why wouldn’t they have just dumped it in the ocean?

I have heard so much false info. If the mom truly thought something shady had happened, She would clear up the lies and the misinformation so not to cloud everything.

She knows it wasn’t murder but how can she continue her grift without pretending to be a victim. I see now she did a post that she is selling shirts and talking people not to buy shirts of him from others. Money money money she wants. She thinks she is going to be in a history book.

She is pure evil. In the beginning, I had so much sympathy for her, but not anymore and as for the Dad well we don’t even hear about him so I assume that’s the stepfather.

I feel so sad for Nolan, his death has become about his mom and crump and the rest of the race baiters. It’s so sad that his friends who he loved couldn’t even go to his funeral because his mother wanted to make it into some televised hate rally. Everyone is using this poor kids death for selfish reason. Shame on Mrs Rachel with her crap she is pulling too. They all need to be sued.

The good thing is crump and the rest will leave her ass soon.

9

u/TrailerCash 19h ago edited 19h ago

Hard to say any of this without a lot of pushback, but I agree.

At any point she could have come out and said “look the friends on the boat were not there, we know that from the tow call and have witnesses placing him alive after they left, please do not harass them”. But nope, silence.

Some of the mom’s logic includes “he wouldn’t leave his group, we taught him not to do that”… like I understand there is grief, but it’s been months, and you can use your brain at some point. The lessons you taught your 18 year old son who lives with his grandmother and was out drinking all day aren’t infallible.

After the Grand Jury results came out, they had a press conference. And one of the things she said was “If Nolan were here, he would agree with everything we’ve done”. Who is she trying to convince here?

Say he is looking down on us and this was a pure accidental drowning, watching the circus this has become, people talking about “educate your black children about the dangers of being friends with white people”, friends not allowed at funeral, the fake audio that spread and painted them as murderers.

Maybe his memory and some of that GoFundMe money could go towards educating and preventing drownings? No, let’s go out and say harmful shit like “he was a strong swimmer and no one saw him thrashing around yelling for help like it happens in movies, how could he have drowned?”

1

u/dragynphyre 1h ago

What people still don't understand about the Wells case is that witnesses and the limited tox report showed heavy alcohol intake. The very sad fact is, that he got drunk, got confused, likely blacked out, and had a dry drowning. But grifters gotta grift, and race baiters gotta bait.

12

u/PomeloPepper 1d ago

Apparently it's a big party spot and there were a lot of people there. The guys he came with left early, but he wanted to stay and party with the others on the island and presumably catch a ride back with them.

45

u/Forsaken-Sale7672 1d ago

And they left early because their boat was taking on water, to the point they had to call for a tow back. At which point there were multiple witness testimonies that placed him alive on the island still.

29

u/PomeloPepper 1d ago

The headlines made it sound like he was abandoned on a deserted island.

21

u/Forsaken-Sale7672 1d ago

Yeah it’s a bit strange because it’s a small island visible from the coast that’s people use for giant parties.

There were a few hundred people out there partying, drinking, etc.

People want to believe the worst but there’s been absolutely nothing to indicate anything sinister.

Even the “deleted data” was referring to a Snapchat group that had some messages deleted but they couldn’t determine if it was people unsending messages or what.

Unfortunate, but all evidence points to a senseless tragedy rather than some sort of conspiracy.

23

u/TrailerCash 1d ago edited 1d ago

That’s this whole case. Headlines that sound sketchy when framed the right way to a complete laymen who either plays dumb or knows absolutely nothing.

Like, some of the lawyer’s core arguments are “he was a strong swimmer” and “how did no one see him drown”. He’s either operating on a child’s understanding of drowning, or is playing dumb.

7

Yeah, the kid I knew in highschool who drowned was on the swim team. He was in a 4 wheeler in his parents backyard, a bee came along and he jerked the wheel, it flipped when it hit a rock, he landed with his face pressed into a puddle, and he drowned. It's not hard to drown while being a great swimmer, it just takes the worst set of circumstances.

Doesn't help that this kid was on an island at a party, probably inebriated to some extent, and definitely full of adrenaline and excitement.

I climb towers for a living and people like to ask "how far do you have to fall to die". I always tell them that people die in falls just walking around on the ground, and other people have survived falling out of planes.

Its not about how far you fall (or deep the water)

Exactly! It's obviously more dangerous to fall from 1000 ft than it is to fall from 2 ft, but there's always that degree of luck involved.

I read about a case the other week where a woman fell from 10,000 ft skydiving when her parachute didn't work, broke half the bones in her body and landed in a patch of fire ants. The ants stinging her continued to trigger her adrenaline enough that she didn't pass out, and she was still conscious when they found her. Obviously a lot of surgery and physical therapy, but she lived.

Humans are odd, there's not really a solid upper or lower limit for these kinds of things.

Edit: found it, it was Joan Murray from 14,500 feet after both her main parachute and her backup parachute failed.

It's the safer bet to just say this stuff if you're a performer who intends to remain somewhat popular or in the 'good books'. The consequences for being wrong on this kind of thing are minimal to non-existent. Nobody of enough influence or volume really bats an eyelid at outlandish statements of this kind. However, if you say nothing and it becomes the next big thing (regardless of it's validity) then the social consequences could be huge.

The KKK of today wishes they had as much power and reach as the liberals say they do. Wells wasn't murdered by racists and the "lynchings" have all been proved otherwise.

Please remember, this is someone who left school at 13 or 14 while later earning a GED on the road. She literally knows nothing about anything not related to music and the music business. That is all she knows.

You shouldn’t applaud it if she uses it like this.
