Not being active and not eating well/getting enough vitamins. The body is unable to spread out body fat evenly so you end up with what resembles a frog being held up. I've the same body type.
Genetics and stress. My Dad has this body type. Thin, slightly muscular arms and legs (he bikes), but his torso is essentiall apple shaped.
Some men are genetically prone to it (more than women, I think).
It's a different type of fat than the subcutaneous, soft fat you see on many obese people.
This type of fat grows around the organs, not directly under the skin. It is caused by two things. Alcohol (which thankfully is not the reason my dad has it). And stress.
It's more dangerous than the subcutaneous fat layers aswell. Affects the body more, greater risk for cardiovascular diseases, etc.
What do you do about it? I have a similar body shape, but I don’t drink alcohol, and am already on anti-anxiety meds. Is there anything to be done to change this?
It looks like Cushing's syndrome, which causes a fatter midsection and face with thinner limbs. It's caused by excess cortisol in the system for long periods of time
This a pretty standard fat man physique. Perhaps with the non-fat legs being slightly on the atypical side, but it’s not terribly uncommon for men to not have fat legs while being fat. We are just not used to see them in this attire.
The way that your body disperses fat is genetic, though. yes, he likely got that big from eating too much. but the shape his body is taking on is genetic.
Those are just genetics, you have Kevin Durant an NBA superstar for a decade and a half jumping and running at the highest level and he has stick legs that can move his 7ft frame with explosiveness and coordination,
Genetics for being skinny fat, vs someone that is obese but has calfs and forearms like chunks of firewood. Under all the fat is a bodybuilder amount of muscle.
If he was older I might suspect some peripheral artery disease or insulin insensitivity. In old bodybuilders you sometimes see a condition refered to colloquially as ' Polumobism'.
Where they get a big torso, but the muscle on the arms and legs atrophy.
Most of the getting older thing is just activity/diet x time. The genetic aspect is more phenotype than genotype for almost everyone, meaning it’s an adaptive thing that adjusts due to environmental influences, significantly from lifestyle factors. Otherwise known as epigenetics. There’s been a pretty significant amount of research showing that a very large percentage is not immutable genetics.
This should be pretty clear from basic statistics and evolution. Obesity rates were ~80% less a century ago. Evolution just doesn’t move remotely fast enough for that to be genotype, and even a lot of that a century ago was also lifestyle factors.
A lot of people just confuse the fact that their family struggles similarly, with genotype influences, when a lot of that is inherited behaviors from them rather than something hard coded
I'll say this much. I have no opinion on this matter because the internet is a fucking joke. Y'all were saying THE SAME SHIT as him weeks, months, years ago. Numerous posts on every single social channel on how women dress inappropriately to the gym. You can search reddit and find hundreds of posts like that with thousands of comments agreeing. Then the Internet tells y'all, no, no, they SHOULD dress like that or w.e and you guys jump on the bandwagon IMMEDIATELY. Like I said, idc either way, but the hypocrisy is thick with this one.
Why are speaking as if its the same people making all comments on the internet? If you go to those same posts I can guarantee you'll find people disagreeing with those statements.
Youre calling people hypocrites for having different opinions but thats not what the word means.
Even if it was all the same people, they are capable of changing an opinion.
Yeah it does seem to be different people, tho ig maybe it flips flops on which side is getting upvotes. Idk maybe it's something to do with algorithms or bots.
Who are you talking about? The people defending OF style outfits and the people who hate them have never been the same people. One group was just louder at different times.
People are performative as fuck, this is amplified by the anonymity the internet provides as people no longer need to stand behind what they say, they can have whatever the popular opinion seems to be at any moment in time.
Right wing Shane Gillis said something. Now I have to counter it to show I am not right wing. My values all derive from being counter the other side. It doesn’t matter how much I agreed with it before they said it. What matters is they said the thing and now I am taking the correct side of things. And you know what. History will prove I am right.
Joe Rogan’s Shane Gillis is not right wing? Joe Rogan is super duper right wing. And me as the super uninformed Reddit populist categorizes Shane Gillis appropriately by the people Shane hangs out with. Why should I bother looking at his independent takes with nuance? They are probably disingenuous anyway.
pretending women wouldn't have comments about this guy's outfit is just silly. as soon as this guy starts doing squats with a camera pointed at his butt he's getting kicked out of the gym for making the women uncomfortable.
Honestly, yeah if a woman is dressing in next to nothing to record herself, and then posts it online to try and get people go to her OF she's a whore. People regardless of sex recording themselves half naked in a gym to get online followers is a massive problem in gyms pretty much everywhere.
for you as a guy to be called slut like that you maybe need less shirt, and more shaped tights around your junk, maybe a partial lol. Then you can get called out on it by women online and claim misandry and then we'll see which guys defend this, would be interesting to see.
See, his clothing is revealing his body making this funny… same way the revealing clothes women wear in the gym make them LOOK whorish. And let’s be real, no one cares about normal workout clothes, it’s the built in wedgie bullshit
its specifically the wedgie asshole shorts. That's LITERALLY what he was talking about, and is he wrong? GIVE ME ONE UTILITARIAN REASON FOR THE ASSHOLE SHORTS!!!!
Idk talk to, what I assume was an Epstein class man, who developed and marketed them as a necessity for women and girls at the gym. 🙄
Though also, I'm not a fan, but there's an obligatory their body their choice in there. You don't have to like it, you just have to let Them live with it.
If you have no problem with the song talking about "whores in this house" but you have a problem with what Shane said, it's not because of the word; that's your gender bias.
If we agree that women shouldn't be called whores then that means there is no qualifier or exception. Feminism is about equality, isn't it?
Dear Reddit, when is our society going to acknowledge some basic facts?
Ok Street Walkers and prostitutes used to (still? Lol) dress very revealing. Now we have everyday women walking around in skin tights, and you can easily tell what they look like naked.
Ok they're not easy and they're not selling anything.
Why are we being asked to pretend like everyday average women aren't wearing skin tight revealing clothes?
Lol. Everyone wants this to be talked about so they can get their views. They don't really care about the joke, it's all about the views so they can get monetized. I'm surprised Dan Levy didn't do this himself so he can stay relevant. He prefers lectures, while looking at you like you're an idiot. I thought we were past this whole sjw policing.
Ngl, as a woman, I hate when both men AND women wearing skin tight clothes to the gym. We unfortunately live in a society filled with porn addicts and that shit is just irresponsible, like drinking a beer infront of an alcoholic. Plus if you're digging your shorts out of your ass every 5 seconds and adjusting your tiny sports bra just as often, maybe they aren't optimal clothes to be working out in? Its just ludicrous
