Hey everyone,
Just had a question for anyone who has the 2017 Tiguan R line. Looking at one for about 15k CAD, has a clean record on carfax with 100,000km on it.
Just curious for those out there who have one, what are your thoughts? How expensive is it for daily use? Any concerns? Any pros that outweigh cons? I’ve been scouring the internet and can’t seem to find anything to help solidify my choice. Wanting to put 12k down on it but am hesitant as the car salesman said they can’t inspect the Timing-Chain and all the top maintenance items.
Am happy to hear all opinions on it!

The sensor keeps going off very frequently, and there’s no way to turn it off; does anyone know what this is or how to resolve it?

Has anyone tried this? Has it worked for minor oil consumption? I got some but haven’t put it in yet.

hello, attached is a noise I noticed on my 2016 Tiguan. I swear it’s new but maybe I’m just an idiot. shes due for an oil change in 2k miles, and I’ve doing them routinely every 5k for the past year or so (although this has not always been the case).
waterpump was replaced at 88k. total miles now 107,538.
could it just be direct injection?

2026 Tiguan Comfortline, ~3,500 km, no mods.
In September at ~1,500 km I got “Transmission in emergency mode” + yellow gear icon when shifting to Reverse. Harsh jerky shifts on the way home, then CEL on. After restart it drove normally, CEL cleared after ~15 km.
Dealer scanned it, opened a tech ticket, waited for VW techline, checked the transmission. No parts replaced.
Still happening now:
- light jerks on low gears (1-2-3)
- sometimes a click + jolt when shifting into Reverse
Anyone with a 2025-2026 Tiguan (8-speed auto) had the same? What did your dealer find / fix — software update?
Thanks!
I have a 22 that seems to be getting hit with the oil consumption issue this year - needing a quart every 1000-1200 miles. Smoke on some startups etc.. I noticed that after I had an oil change it didn’t seem to be as bad right after.
Does a more frequent oil change (3k vs 10km etc) help at all with the issue or it doesn’t matter?

Friends, I'm trying to sell my 09 Tiguan and took it to get a smog test. Smog guy tells me check engine light doesn't come on when you start the car. All the other warning lights pop up when you turn the key *except* the check engine light. HELP! Anyone else had this issue? How did you solve it? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

My dumb ass hit my rear tire off a curb taking a turn too sharp this morning. I took it to my dealer because it deflated, but I didn't see any tears or punctures along the wall and could feel air escaping from where the rim met the tire. Guy at the dealer told me I'd need a whole new tire and indicated "excessive wear" along the walls closer to the edge of the tire. But he pointed it out on the inner side of the tire, not the outer side that actually hit the curb? And it's a 2026 Tiguan with 2700 miles, what do you mean my tire has signs of excessive wear?
Am I being strung along by a dealer I already find shady?
I did not get a new tire from them this morning and have been pricing replacements, but if all I need to do is get the tire reseated/resealed (Idk, I'm not a mechanic) then I'm not buying a new tire if I don't need to.
Update: The tire wall was torn less than an inch. I understand how I missed it at 6:30am with no sun up. However, my faith in the dealership has somehow sunk lower. They had the full benefit of daylight and missed the wall tear, insisting instead on excessive wear on tires they just sold me 2 months ago. Also found a tire at a local mechanic for about $50 for the same brand at this shoddy dealer.

Can someone advise me if it is pretty easy to negotiate on the new vehicle pricing these days?

Any one with a 2025 have issues with their ez pass tag not registering? We got a brand new tag and still doesn’t work. It works in my f150 Lightning just fine. Placed it in 10 different places in the Tiguan and it never works. We’ve resorted to holding our hand out of the window with it.

Hey Guys! I’ve been dealing with a highly concerning and irritating issue the last year or so.
Every single morning when I drive to work, I have to be on the gas pedal to keep the revs up, in my Tiguan 2017 2.0 TSI (R-line). If I don’t, the engine begins to become all wobbly, and seconds after, the engine shuts off completely. Sometimes even before I reach 0, and is still on the break.
Dashboard plings and write place gear selector in P and start engine manually. - no engine lights. I then have to go back to park and start the car up again by the button.
Waiting in the middle of a cross section when this happens, gives me quite a sh*tty morning. Starting up again, it needs a bit of help so i push the gas and it starts up. I hit the highway for 10 minutes and when i get off again, there no problem holding idle.
The rest of the day there is no issue.
* i’ve had the timing chain belt changed with a whole new kit. (Ouch$) didn’t help.
* I’ve had the PCV-valve changed. Didn’t help.
Intake is cleaned up. Still nothing.
Any suggestions to what could be the problem?
Hoping someone has had the same issue.
Sorry for typos or strange wording.

2024 Tiguan SE with 1,700 miles. I placed a water bottle in the center console to show the vibration while the car is idling in Park.
Not sure if this is a reliable test or if this amount of vibration is normal. No warning lights or error codes, and a mechanic checked the car and said everything was fine.
Is this normal for a Tiguan with such low mileage?

I'm looking for a dashcam for my 26 turbo. Highest priorities are image quality, and a clean install (wires hidden or only running a short distance, factory look etc) I'm primarily concerned with the forward facing one. Ideally it would sneak in behind the mirror somehow.

I missed out on a Mk7 Golf R muffler but there is a Mk8 muffler for sale locally too. Are they they same since the Mk7, 7.5 and 8 are all still MQB chassis?

I got my 2022 SE AWD Tiggy about 6 months ago, and I love the car. I've put about 10k on it since I've gotten and mechanically the car is fantastic.
About 4 months ago my infotainment went out, and since then I've been to the dealer 4 times to try and get it resolved.
1st Trip: Pure diagnostic, said it was my SoS unit ordered to replace.
2nd Trip: Replaced SoS, infotainment still won't power. Put VW ticket in for screen.
3rd Trip: VW managed to track down a screen after about 3 weeks from a dealer to dealer transfer. Screen gets replaced still won't power. Put VW ticket in for a F5 module.
4th Trip: After waiting almost a month for a F5 module......Goto VW and am informed they have the wrong part.
The last Trip to VW was roughly 2 months ago, and there is no insight on when my F5 module will be arriving. I was told im one of 16,000 people trying to get it replaced.
VW is covering all of this under warranty, and the old info had a scratch, so I did get a nice new one. But not having a radio for this long sucks.

I had a coolant leak over the course of a year. I thought that the summer was being brutal and that I just needed to refill coolant but upon inspecting it, coolant was leaking through the water pump, which I had it Replaced at my local firestone for 3K. 3 months ago I Put in an aluminum water pump because the old OEM water pump is plastic. After the job, the car ran for about a month without any issues. Now it’s been leaking gas the same spot it leaked coolant. I first report in the intake man of two times. Thought I just put it on. Still leaked gas. I replaced the throttle body gasket and intake gasket and put in new fuel injectors, and new sets of gaskets in the injectors. Still leaks gas. A ton not a dribble. Does anybody seem to know what I’m doing wrong? I checked the steel fuel line and rails and nothing is leaking. I torque the intake to 70 inches and still leaks gas. I’m just pinching the rubber gaskets on the fuel injectors? I’ve took apart the intake like 10 times no joke ;(. She only has 61k miles and has awd I love this car.
Purchased a new '26 Tiguan SEL R-Line Turbo a couple weeks back. Enjoying all the tech that's for sure.
However, my gas mileage sucks. According to the gauge I'm averaging 16mpg. Lots of city driving I get that. But, according to VW website I should be getting around 22mpg. What I'm getting now is comparable to my '14 Grand Cherokee Summit with a 5.7 Hemi at 13mpg.
I've tracked my gas gauge to see if maybe there was something off but I'm at half a tank already after not even a week. I'm not heavy on the gas either. I've also got it set for Comfort.
Is this normal for a brand new Tiggy? I'm new to the VW fam' so maybe I'm not aware of what to expect.
