Claims his 1st Amendment rights were violated because someone laughed at him then tries to get an officer to violate a journalist’s 1st Amendment rights

Jesus christ I am so sick of Republicans and their hypocritical stupidity
22
u/IczyAlley 6h ago
Billionaires paid billions to force us to take them seriously, and no pissants like us are going to get in their way. They might lose in 2026 or even 2028. But you know they will win with even worse people and policies in 2030. So just take it
9
u/Projecterone 5h ago
Sadly I think you're right. Never in history has so much power been so securely in psychopathic peoples hands. The power and control they have would be unthinkable to any despot, emperor or king of the past.
It was inevitable for America I suppose but a shame.

So in a room full of cameras recording him, this one person also recording him is breaking the law? Not only is he wrong but he's stupid also
63
u/baconeggsandwich25 7h ago
"Yeah, actually I'm a legislator, I actually, I actually know the law well."
Buddy, I don't think ya do.

u/AnyPossibility2467 3h ago
Right, but he spewed whatever nonsense just to try to establish that he was smarter than the other people in the room.

It is truly baffling.
That guy basically put on a dumb authoritarian performance, with his little finger pointing and hand motions, calling for the police to arrest a reporter. Acting like it is so incredulous that they dare disagree with him.
If a person votes for this guy, I am truly concerned about sharing society with them. He could not provide a better display of being an incompetent bad-actor.
If somebody can't see through this bullshit, it is no wonder that so many conmen, grifters, and fraudsters become politicians. Even when people can see what they are, they will still get votes.
15
u/WasteTelephone6924 4h ago
Researched the guy today. He was caught bringing a firearm into the House floor and getting into a fistfight with democratic congressman, Colin Allred who played college football. Guys a jackass
16
u/user_name_taken- 7h ago
Never underestimate stupid people in large groups. Their stupidity is like a disease, it's contagious. The more they're around it, the bigger the viral load, the worse it is.
4
u/Dearic75 4h ago
He’s in the “safe” district that was given to republicans so democrats would win all other districts in Maryland. With all the Republicans packed into his district, he should be well over 20 points ahead. Possibly 30.
2
u/ChewieBearStare 2h ago
So the fact that it’s only 12 shows that maybe some people are wising up.

The only thing that can get under a Republicans skin is getting laughed at. Fact checks, hypocrisy, moral outrage, nothing. But if you laugh at them, oh boy do they get flustered.
21
u/Upset_Journalist_755 3h ago
The "weird" campaign was really working. Dropping it was a mistake. We need to be making fun of these clowns constantly.

u/FlawedHero 3h ago
I've been 30-day banned from Facebook too many times to hit it directly but the creativity on how to call them weird has gone up 1,000%.
6
u/livinginfutureworld 2h ago
Mel Brooks discovered this approach decades ago with the right wing fascists of back in the day.
"Blazing Saddles" made fun of southern racist rednecks (Republicans) and "The Producers" making fun of Nazis (Republicans are leaning this way).
The way to get under their skin is laughing at them.
2
u/Hater_Magnet 4h ago
That should just be the strategy going forward.
3
u/Mobile_Morale 3h ago
Call me a hipster because I've been doing it before it was cool. Way back in the bush days when dick had that guy he shot in the face apologize for being shot in the face.
That and bush being a bumbling idiot all the time making us look bad.

They are lying to our face to harm us and steal our money and they want us to treat them with decency?

5
u/Stunning_Weather_403 5h ago
Agreed, if he really had something important to say he would have, like most politicians, wouldn’t get stumped on his speech by people laughing. He would continued to make his point to persuade people, which is why he’s there in the first place

u/railroad-dreams 7h ago
In case anyone wants to know the facts. He's WRONG
The "Reasonable Expectation of Privacy" Test: The consent rule applies only to private conversations. Maryland courts determine whether an in-person conversation is private based on whether the speakers had a reasonable expectation of privacy:
- Not protected: A person yelling in public, addressing a crowd, or speaking loudly enough that any bystander nearby can easily overhear without specialized equipment generally lacks a reasonable expectation of privacy. Recording their voice in that scenario does not violate the wiretap statute.

12
u/UraniumDisulfide 7h ago
Lmao what a dumbass, the first amendment has nothing to do with a crowd reacting to someone, it's about the government punishing people for speech. Moron doesn't realize that the crowd laughing is also their freedom of expression, or he does and is disingenuously pretending not to. When you tell blatant lies like the price of diesel being up because of democrats you deserve to be laughed at.

5
u/graywolfman 5h ago
And he's so wrong lol, specifically about the first amendment
The first amendment protects you against government persecution for what you say/post/etc.
Everyone is using it so incorrectly, lately.
Being boo'd doesn't violate the first amendment, booing doesn't, either... And, neither does getting laughed at

TMI: My narcissistic father once pulled a desert eagle (big ass pistol) on a guy over a road rage incident. He blew the fuck up on me when I brought it up to him while on the phone with him and my brother and said he never even had a desert eagle and said I was "fucking brainwashed". I have a video of my dad showing my brother how to fire that desert eagle at our family cabin in the middle of nowhere when he was around 10-12. I literally have video evidence of that gun and he bragged about it all the time, and he still tried to gaslight us about it. That's just how narcissists and sociopaths act when they're cornered.
Edit: They tend to get erratic and turn up the aggression because they can't bullshit their way out so they instead try to make the situation chaotic so they can try to find an easy out or get you emotional so they can find something else to latch onto to steer the conversation in a different direction.

First amendment only protects people from the government. People aren't individually guaranteed First amendment protections from other people. It's to protect an individual from the government stopping them from saying whatever.
(with the exception being inciting violence and hate speech I believe).
He has the right to stand up there and say whatever he wants, anyone can respond equivalently, with laughter or whatever, but it doesn't mean anyone has to listen to him or agree with him.
4
u/BlazingPalm 5h ago
He brought up 2 completely bogus arguments: 1st amendment doesn’t apply here except possibly on his end to allow freedom of press. Wiretap law in a public space means he is free to decide to not communicate, which is what he ultimately did. What a putz.

This guy is an absolute moron. He doesn't understand what the 1st amendment is. He doesn't understand what two party consent means and how that absolutely doesn't apply here. He doesn't understand what a reasonable expectation of privacy is (which absolutely is relevant here). He's just spewing nonsense bullshit and other idiots will believe him because they're just as dumb as he is.
