How do you feel about the Goliath incident at Six Flags?

Basically the above. What we were told was never gonna happen on a ride, happened. I assume the outcome of the investigation hasn’t been released yet but do you think he was even locked in properly? If he wasn’t then surely the train wouldn’t even have left the station due to safety mechanisms.

I’m a theme park fanatic and I’m not generally scared of rides or heights but I’ve got a theme park trip in a couple of days and it’s not the news I really want to see right now.

All in all, I hope those who were present that day get emotional support and they feel better soon. Conditioner the family.

This is going to be tough, but it would be good for everyone to put the brakes on what happened...

Ok everyone, time to take a deep breath, step away from the phones and computers, go outside, touch grass, see the sun, play with the dog... take a break. Cause people are getting so caught up in this thing and running to silly places with it.

Here are the facts:

The investigation not only isn't done, it's going to take a while. Think weeks, not days or hours. Weeks. In the mean time no one knows what happened or why. We don't know if it was the restraint, rider error or trying to do something he shouldn't, or error on the part of the ride ops not securing them. Or even possibly more than one.

We don't know. And any pretending that they do or has some special insight is very simply wrong, as sincere as they might be. Don't care if they have whatever experience (I've got 10 years working at parks myself). They. Don't. Know. And any speculation anyone is putting out is premature, not based on any sort of actual fact finding, and based on their imagination. Don't waste the time dwelling on it until the investigation comes out with what actually happened.

And no, this isn't the end of roller coasters, theme parks, hyper coasters, B&M or any of that either. Nor are any of them any more dangerous than they were previously (which they weren't). Any panic or thoughts along those lines are overreactions, not based on reality, and a sign you need some air.

So ease off- for your mental health as well as that of others. Maybe take a break from coaster communities for a bit, because quite simply they are being flooded with the attention seekers, wannabees, overreactionaries, uniformed, ignorant, or just plain jerks at the moment. The smart ones who have a clue are the ones that are not talking, or saying to stop talking and just wait. That's the smart thing to do.

Scared to continue with this hobby I love…

We’ve all heard the tragic news, and my heart goes out to those directly affected.

There’s a deep ripple of fear going through many of us (I’m sure it’s not only me) that maybe this isn’t as safe as we’ve always believed. I’m not sure how to continue riding as happy-go-lucky as I have in the past. I know they’ve shut down the similar models of coasters, but how are some of y’all overcoming the tough thoughts when getting on other models by different manufacturers?

For example, Copperhead Strike at Carowinds is one of my top favorites. I love air time and upper body freedom, but the clamshell with slow inversions has always made me nervous despite how much I enjoy the ride. But now, shhhiiiiitttt.

(I acknowledge this is personal anxiety and do not mean this to negate any traumatic experiences lived by others. Just wondering how we’re all coping around here.)

What Does The Process Of Getting Hired At A Theme Park Look Like?

I hope it’s fine for me to ask this here, wasn’t sure if I should have asked in a space for writing or a space for theme parks this question,

I’m currently writing a short story for fun, the main character gets a job at an theme park, however I’m not sure what the process of applying, interviewing, and training looks like, and I want to make sure the story makes sense.

If able to, could someone help me?

Flipping feeling while trying to sleep?

Has anyone felt this feeling after a day in the parks? I went to Busch Gardens recently for the first time, and I rode rollercoasters almost the whole time from 10 am to 11 pm (I was riding the major rides almost the whole time, starting with the Griffin). When I got back to the hotel that nigjt everything was fine, but when I would try to go to bed, I would within 30 seconds feel like I was slowly flipping backward and being pressed down like I was in a loop. This went on for over an hour of me trying to go to bed, feeling myself riding through a loop, and then getting up because I would start to feel nauseous. Has anybody else in this sub dealt with this before?

Edit: I am making this post the day after, and I feel fine now.

LEGOLAND New York does not have the juice

The hotel themed rooms is full of poorly wallpapered walls. The park itself feels like a slightly nicer state park. No sense of wonder, no leaning into the creativity with Lego (besides a workshop) and fairly spread out attractions with not a ton to do.

Also when you pull into the entrance it’s like the tiniest signage- doesn’t give you any big feeling entering there.

I firmly had my expectations in check but it just feels like a cheap missed opportunity.

Theme park trip UK

Hey. I'm Liam 26 near Sheffield. Just wondering if anyone would be interested in coming along to a theme park (not sure which one yet but would be open to going to any of the big ones). I don't have anyone to go with and don't really wanna go on my own. Would always be more fun to go with someone else or a group so just taking a chance to see if anyone would like to come with?

I don't expect you to have to pay to tag along with me so I'm happy to pay for the ticket and also drive there if you can't make your own way there. Let me know if you're interested. If you do message me then please let me know where you are and your age etc.

Nausea

I used to be good on rides but now specifically things like the waltzers make me super nauseous for like hours. I’ve been looking into the motion sickness pills you can buy as I’m going on rides soon.
I was just wondering you effective these are in personal experience, like does it fully fix it and also any other things people do to help this.
And I know I can just not go on the rides but I’d like to if possible.
Thanks

Don't go to USJ. USH is 100x better

Honestly, USJ is so massively OVERRATED and a complete clusterfuck. 💀 Save your money, seriously. I don't get why the they love to complicate things so much for no reason.

  • FAKE ASS OPENING TIMES: They claim 9 AM opening, but opened at 8 AM anyway??? I arrived early and thinking I was early and Super Mario ALREADY had a 2-hour wait!
  • THE APP LIES TO YOU: The app makes it look like you mandatory need a Timed Entry ticket to step foot into Nintendo World. In reality, you can just walk straight in early without one! If I knew that, I would've walked in first thing instead of wasting time.
  • LIGHTS OUT SOLD OUT IMMEDIATELY: Already sold out when I got in. Don't they want money or what?
  • EXPRESS PASS IS A COMPLETE SCAM: Paid almost $100 (15,800 JPY) for an Express Pass and got zero advantage. I could do the exact same things for free on the app.
  • TERRIBLE TIMING: My paid pass assigned me super late entry times like 3 PM and 5 PM, but I easily got a free 1 PM slot myself on the app.
  • MID ATTRACTIONS: Rides are not worth the hype or wait.

Mind you, THIS WAS A WEDNESDAY IN LOW SEASON in Freakin October and it was still an absolute mess. I cant imagine if it's during busy session. DO NOT GO HERE OR SPEND ANY DIME.

Why USH is way better:

  • MORE RIDES: Hollywood actually has way more/better rides.
  • BETTER HALLOWEEN MAZES: The HHN mazes at USH clear USJ completely.
  • NOT CONFUSING: USH is actually easy to navigate without dealing with a confusing system, especially the fastpass. USJ sells like 10+ different type while USH keeps everything simple.

USH supremacy honestly 😭 USJ is purely hype and stress.💩

Looking for a buddy or a group to go USJ with on 22 Oct

Hi! Just as the title says, I’m looking for someone to go to USJ with, preferably on 22 Oct! I'm very keen on going to the RE themed haunted house but I'm dead afraid of doing it alone. 😅

Also, which one should i go for first? Nintendo World for the Donkey Kong ride or RE theme haunted house?

I made a little website that will generate a rollercoaster based on your birthday as a seed!

(no ads, promotion or trying to sell anything, just something I made for fun)

Heyo!

As a rollercoaster enthousiast myself I always wanted an excuse to dive a bit more into creating a rollercoaster and what stuff to keep in mind while doing so (other than doing it in RCT or planet coaster), but going a bit more in depth.

So I spend the last month or so making a little thing that generates a rollercoaster based on the input seed of your birthday. Figuring out how to make the layout work without it doing anything really weird, implementing the elements, going from layout to coaster. Not having too much straight track, making sure it connects well, making every ride start with a launch or lift hill etc.

Models are just shapes from three.js, no external assets. Stats are not really based on anything yet.

You can try it yourself here: https://birthday-coaster.vercel.app

It's by far not perfect, but wanted to share anyway. Let me know what you think!

Okay, now it’s rant time: Hollywood Studios in Orlando is one of the worst parks I’ve ever experienced

So previously I asked if Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is worth it or not, and I mentioned under the post I’m in Orlando going through the Universal and Disney Parks. Now I’m at the end of my trip, and I feel like I wasted my last two nights here, and let me explain. Also, I experienced, so if your experience was different, then that’s great.

Yesterday, coming off my already drenched day at Epic Universe (not as good as Islands of Adventure, but still great) with my feet still kinda hurting from being in soaked shoes all day, I headed off to Animal Kingdom, which is more of a themed safari park than true amusement park, but still great fun. I decided to spend that night at Hollywood Studios, and after some picture taking headed over to Rock n Rollercoaster, which was at least an hour wait. Broke down while I was in line. Then I decided to head to Tower of Terror, also at least an hour wait. Broke down while I was in line. So incredibly frustrated, with pain in my feet, I wanted to grab dinner at the Sci-Fi Drive in movie theater, which the pretty full lobby made it clear I probably should’ve made a reservation beforehand. Just not in the mood to deal with this shit, I left the park, when it so happened to be the other two rides were working again, but my feet were in too much pain to walk back.

This morning I put waterproof bandages on my feet cuz as it turns out they had a bunch of cuts and blisters on the bottom, so they were hopefully not gonna be in pain today, and forecast says less chance of rain. Yay! Spent a sunny day at Epcot, which was actually pretty cool and highly recommended! But I knew I had to rush, so I mostly took pictures and went on the less “Disney” rides, before heading over to Magic Kingdom and went on the rides I came for (Tron and Seven Dwarfs, both fun rides). Because I had a pretty frustrating day at Hollywood Studios, I decided to try again tonight. That was a mistake. After waiting 40 minutes in line for Rock n Rollercoaster (which was supposed to be a 70 minute queue), it broke down. Again. And was gonna wait in line for Tower of Terror (again), but the line which was
originally 45 minutes when I last looked quickly became 90, and noticed Slinky Dog Dash was also temporarily closed. I couldn’t wait 90 minutes to ride something that could easily break down again as I had actually made a reservation this time to Sc-Fi Dine-in Theater, so I just went through that Walt Disney Museum. That restaurant I made a reservation for was not really a theater, as it was just 2 minute clips of old timey tv and movies on repeat every 30-60 minutes, and the food itself was nothing to write home about. I was gonna try to rush over to Rock n Rollercoaster before the park closes, but dinner finished right when it did. So a whole night wasted, having not gone on anything, for subpar food. This has now been my absolute worst experience at a park ever, and no amount of Knott’s Berry Farm terrible operations would ever change my opinion on that. I kept thinking “I should’ve just spent my night at Epcot”, cuz at least I would’ve had a great time. Now my trip is over, as I’m hopping on the plane back to Cali tomorrow, and idk when’s the next time I’ll be back in Florida. I think that’s the frustrating thing for me. I’d say the only silver lining here is that, while I may have had my worst park experience on this trip, I also had my best.

Rant Over.

Hi i am 14y from tw i have idea

Ride System & Experience Sequence:

  1. The Sudden Launch (1F to 25F):

The ride starts with a breathtaking, sudden launch from the ground floor, catapulting riders along a vertical track straight up to the 25th floor in a matter of seconds.

  1. The Lateral Pivot & Plunge:

At the apex, the vehicle suddenly pivots/switches orientation sideways, transitioning into a face-down position, and violently plunges downward along a curved track.

  1. The Inversion Peak:

The vehicle hurtles along the track, rushing up to the very top of a massive vertical loop/circle.

  1. The Mid-Air Restraint Release & Bungee Drop:

Right at the peak of the loop, the absolute craziest element happens: the vehicle's safety bars suddenly release, and the riders—who are securely attached to specialized bungee cords—are disconnected from the vehicle, transitioning into a pure, thrilling free-fall bungee jump back toward the ground.

Parc Astérix Trip Report – One Day, Toutatis, Oziris & More

A week ago I was on a trip to Paris and took the opportunity to visit both Disneyland Park Paris (I’ll leave my trip report here) and Parc Astérix. I wanted to share a bit about my experience and some tips that might be useful if you’re planning to visit.

How to get there

We were staying in the north of Paris (Saint-Denis), so we had to take the metro and RER to Charles de Gaulle Airport. If you’re not going by car, this is the key point, as the official park shuttle leaves from here (Terminal 1/3 – Roissypole).

Once you’re at the terminal, it’s very easy to find your way around as there are signs everywhere. Since we went on a Wednesday, we didn’t buy the bus tickets online and just bought them at the office. There was no queue at all. That said, be careful if you’re going on a busy day, as you might have to wait for another bus if the first one is full and end up getting to the park late. Give yourself plenty of time.

TIP: If you haven’t bought the shuttle tickets in advance and there are 2 or more of you, once you’re at the airport terminal, check Uber and Bolt. In our case, we only realised this later, but the journey both ways was around €8. It was cheaper and probably quicker too.

My thoughts on the park

We loved the theming and the sense of humour they add to every corner of the park. I thought the park was going to be bigger in terms of size, based on what I’d seen in YouTube videos. It’s not the first time that’s happened to me, it was the same with Phantasialand. But don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely not a small park.

The first thing we did was head straight to Toutatis, and the Festival Toutatis area is amazing. The attention to detail and the amount of care put into everything is fantastic.

The park is very clean and really pleasant to walk around. The only downside was that some of the indoor queues could have used a bit more care and cleaning. There was some rubbish, a few things were a bit worn, cobwebs, etc.

But overall, a really good park.

Attractions

Without a doubt, Toutatis was my favourite. I had ridden Batman Gotham City Escape in June, and I actually liked Toutatis even more. The feeling of hanging there without quite reaching the top of the top hat is incredible. It makes my top 5 coasters.

Oziris was also a big highlight. The theming, the layout, and the way it constantly feels like you’re about to crash into something... It’s the best suspended coaster I’ve ridden so far.

I also want to mention Cétautomatix, a short but really fun coaster with great theming, and Attention Menhir!, the best 4D cinema experience I’ve ever tried. It’s really well done and the movie is very funny.

If I had to make a tier list, it would be something like this:

  • TOP: Toutatis, Oziris, Cétautomatix, Pégase Express.
  • Surprised me / really enjoyed: Menhir Express, Discobélix, La Trace du Hourra.
  • Disappointed me / didn’t enjoy: Tonnerre 2 Zeus, Le Vol d’Icare, SOS Tournevis.

I really have to mention Tonnerre 2 Zeus, and not in a good way. It’s the worst roller coaster I’ve ever been on, and the only one where I was genuinely worried something might happen or that I’d actually get hurt. I think the park needs to do something about this ride because, apart from the initial Titan Track section, which runs great, the rest is just a nightmare. Headbanging, vibrations, roughness... Horrible.

Goudurix was also closed all day. I’m not sure whether that was lucky or unlucky, since I didn’t get to try it... hahaha.

Shows

We only got to see “The Jumpers of Olympus” and we enjoyed it. It wasn’t anything crazy, but it was entertaining. It was the only show running that day, which I assume was because of the lower attendance.

What I did really like, and what surprised me, was that every so often you’d see characters around the park greeting visitors and taking pictures with them.

Crowds & Queues

Since it was a Wednesday and the only weekday the park was open, I’d say attendance was around 50–60%. With these crowd levels, the park is really enjoyable. There are people around, but it never feels overwhelming and the queues are very manageable.

Toutatis averaged around 30–40 minutes, and at some points during the day the queue was down to 20 minutes. We were able to do pretty much the entire park without any problems in a single day (around 8 hours).

A big positive was the ride operations, especially on Toutatis. They were incredibly quick, dispatching trains practically every minute.

Final thoughts

I definitely recommend visiting this park if you’re on holiday in Paris or somewhere nearby. It has a much more relaxed atmosphere than Disney and, in my opinion, better and more intense roller coasters that are more enjoyable for an adult audience. That said, there’s still plenty to do for families and children.

As a park, it’s still a long way from Disneyland Park and honestly, I doubt it will ever get close to it. But I don’t think it needs to. It’s a different kind of park, more relaxed and with a much more fun atmosphere. They’ve been doing things really well over the last few years, and the future plans, especially Londinium, look very promising.

If you like theme parks, you definitely need to visit. I’ll definitely be coming back in a few years once some of the new attractions have opened.

Do you think bakunawa will have a good opening year?

I’ve heard that Hyperion didn’t have a great opening year and with that being Mack’s current tallest coaster I’ve seen people say that bakunawa could have a bad year, is this likely
I want to know if I should plan my trip for 2027 or 2028

Visiting Phantasialand in late October: how bad are the crowds?

Hey, I'm thinking about going to Phantasialand on Thursday October 29. Never been before but I'm from Belgium so it's not too far for me. I was wondering if anyone has been around that time of year and how crowded it was?

Also not sure if that week is school holidays in Germany or the Netherlands, which I guess would make it way worse. And is the Quickpass worth it or can you get by without it on a weekday?

Any tips appreciated, thanks!

This might sound a bit weird, but are Six Flags parks even worth visiting?

To put into context, I had literally just visited Universal Islands of Adventure for the first time, and I gotta say, probably one of the best, if not the best park I’ve ever visited. The coasters in particular, while few, manage to strike the perfect balance between fun and intensity, where I personally feel a lot of other parks only care about intensity. And that kinda brings me back to the question cuz with my local park being California’s Great America, that, like Knott’s Berry Farm which I visited earlier in the year, has abysmal operations, and the rides themselves I find personally more intense than they are really fun, as silly as that may sound. I had some interest in visiting Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, as I’ve been curious about it ever since I was a kid, but now I’m thinking against it. I just don’t know if Six Flags rides are really “fun” enough to warrant a visit compared to other parks. So what do you think? Worth it or not? (Just for extra context, Efteling, Phantasialand, Europa Park, Busch Gardens are all must visits for me)
