Do we think this will be their last tour?

Basically this morning I was thinking about how the band is seemingly in a bit of a tumultuous place with Nick not being on tour etc etc so I bought a ticket to their Manchester show after having seen them in London because I was thinking this may be the last time they do an arena tour? (It’s the first time they’ve done arenas in the UK in 20 years anyway).
I know some people are saying this will be their last album (rightly or wrongly) so what do people think is the likelihood that this will be their last arena tour?

Bandsplain: The Strokes With Amanda Dobbins and Chris Ryan

One of my favorite podcasts but I am afraid I’m too close to the subject for this one. I also wish that Yasi got better guests! Chris is admittedly not that big of a fan! Amanda rides for the band but is just not super knowledgeable. As a fan of the show, I guess it’s better when you don’t know much about the artists 🤷‍♂️

DAY 41: "BROOKLYN BRIDGE TO CHORUS" HAS THE ANGLES SOUND THE MOST OUT OF ITS ALBUM. NOW, WHICH THE NEW ABNORMAL SONG SOUNDS THE MOST LIKE COMEDOWN MACHINE?

Rules: You can only submit one song that resembles the sound the most, it doesn't have to be a perfect fit. No repeats are allowed. If a tie between two songs happen, I will recount the votes from everyone that suggested that same song to see which sum up more votes.

Poster I designed for tomorrow, BOLOGNA (ITA), the 3T City!

Of course, they tell me the poster is very limited, laminated, and smells like mortadella, and the tortellini glow in the dark, like breasts, but in exchange I asked for 27 songs.
Including Razorblade, Electricityscape, and Oblivius.
I love you guys so much, thank you for playing in Italy, and choosing the city of the three Ts.

Food advice: avoid cramming yourself at the restaurant before the show to avoid compromising your performance!

I was just at the concert in Berlin. It was my first concert of theirs. I landed in the first row sort of by accident (I got early entry tickets but i didnt necessarily plan on being at the very front because of the attention that can bring- i just wanted to be close to the stage) Sure enough Nikolai comes down to the crowd- *exactly* where I'm standing... I couldn't believe my luck but I didnt know what to do so I just backed away and sort of akwardly touched his stomach with both hands 🥹 (he is very skinny) as if he needed to be held up and then he went away perhaps because he felt the lack of enthusiam and the awkwardness... Send help pls👍 i briefly contemplated hugging him but that felt intrusive and then the moment was gone and I just cant help but think it would have been better if he went to *anyone* else but my awkward ass 😭

Sorry for the rant- i know im very lucky and trust me I'm grateful...

PS: it was a great concert but they didnt play oblivious, ize or whatever happened and i fear that i cant die in peace without hearing these songs live

PPS: im sorry to the russian (I think) guys next to me whose jackets i accidentally trampled

PPPS: i have really bad post concert blues so any kind messages are appreciated 🥹

edit: grammar and i still dont entirely know how reddit works so this is my third attempt at posting this

I still have all of these. I miss music magazines so much. I framed one of the Julian SPIN magazines. I wish I had gotten all 5 covers.

Drag Queen Lyric Inspiration?

In the song "Drag Queen" Julian sings "Coast to coast, L.A. to Chicago, I don't know geography all that well."

It always struck me as odd that Julian landed on a silly joke-lyric for one of the more epic song climaxes in The Strokes' discography.

Well, today I discovered some additional context to that lyric.

I was shopping for glasses at LensCrafters while the adult contemporary radio classic "Smooth Operator" by Sade was playing in the store. I happened to catch THE VERY SAME LYRIC in that song! I went home to verify and sure enough at 1:35 Sade sings "coast to coast L.A. to Chicago."

If you're looking for meaning behind the lyric, I can't help you. But I'm particularly tickled by the fact that Julian was probably haunted by the fact that Sade didn't know geography all that well and decided to reference it at an otherwise incredibly serious musical moment within his own song.

Under Control - melancholic version

Ever since I heard Under Control Coachella Valley 2011 version, it never left my rotation. I've come to love it even more than the album version, this live performance has some kind of melancholic flavour, especially in the beginning where Julian sings angelic, with only one guitar doing the melody. The way song builds up is incredible, and mostly this is one of Julian's best vocal performances, I think. Probably my favorite live performance by the band, absolutely love it.
