Streak and kobo

My wife recently brought me a kobo that I have been using this week. I have or had an 86 week streak for reading 30 pages a week. When I refreshed Storygraph today after reading my streak suddenly dropped from 86 to 70. I clicked the recalculate streak and it hasn't fixed it and I checked my journal and I can't see what would have caused it to change.

Any ideas please?

It is a pretty big drop and I don't know whether to turn the syncing off so it doesn't happen again.

General Question Improvement to journal entries?

Does anyone else wish we could sort individual books' journal entries by ascending/descending dates? I like to double check when my last entry was when putting in my page numbers to make sure it's correct, but I reread books so for my favorites there ends up being a lot of scrolling before I find the last entry.

I'm not sure if they take suggestions or even how to go about that so I was just curious if that was a feature anyone else wanted

How to sync my storygraph account with my good reads account

When I created storygraph, I uploaded a spreadsheet of my goodreads books. Ever since, when I start or finish a book, I need to update both my Goodreads and my Storygraph accounts separately. Is there a way for me to update both at the same time?

Tech Help Likes On Community Feed Change?

I'm not sure if this is a new change or an error, and I'm an app-only user. Has anyone else noticed that the community feed likes on a review have updated to also be likes on the review itself? And all the other previous likes on just the feed have disappeared, as of an hour ago or so. If anyone can explain, I'd love to know if this is intentional and/or permanent; I really prefer the separate likes on the feed because you don't even have to read the review to like it in the feed, and that somewhat defeats the purpose of transferring all those likes directly onto the review in my opinion.

Tech Help Glitch help

Help!! StoryGraph glitched and my journal said I had read 284 pages today of one of my books, I pressed delete entry to correct as I assumed I had made an error entering and it has now deleted two weeks worth of entries and gone from 85% back down to 39% with the last entry being 30th September. Is there any way to get this back???

General Question Average Time To Finish and Pausing

I love all the stats in StoryGraph. Recently I started a book, and then my wife and I read a book together, and I'm about to go back and finish the book I started previously. I did not pause the original book during the buddy read and didn't touch it at all. Should I have paused it to keep my Average Time To Finish accurate, or does it only count days I read/interacted with that book? If I should have paused it, is there a trick to retroactively pausing it for those dates I read the other book?

I am also about to get the Memory's Legion book, which is a bind up of all The Expanse short stories and novellas, so I can read them as I work through the series. Since it's a pretty long series, it'll take me quite a long time to read those shorts and read all of Memory's Legion. Should I pause Memory's Legion whenever I'm not actively reading it, unpause it when it's time for one of the stories, and then pause it again throughout the time I work through it (months, maybe even over a year).

Beta Feature - Commenting on Reviews

Post image
132 Upvotes

I just got access to the beta feature that allows other readers to comment on my reviews. The screenshot above is showing one of my most recent reviews, and it now has a comment field where people can comment on my reviews.

This is super exciting, but does this mean I don't have access to comment on other people's reviews yet? When I click on reviews created by my friends, I can't leave comments on their reviews yet.

I'm thrilled even if I can't comment on reviews yet, because I know this means it's coming eventually. This is the #1 feature I've been wanting to see on StoryGraph!

General Question Is there a way to check support tickets?

I made a ticket for an audiobook with incorrect information (the time is 9hrs 3min under what it should be), but I haven't recieved any information regarding the ticket at all. I opted in to recieve an email when it was resolved, but it's already been 5 days without hearing anything and now I'm wondering if it didn't go through. I had assumed that it would probably be a quick fix.. but are they very busy? Do tickets usually take a week or more?

General Question Spoilers in reviews Spoiler

I can't wait until we can report spoiler-y reviews, any idea when that feature is coming? It's so annoying and the spoiler feature is so easy to use, I do not understand why some people feel the need to blab the ending of books in their reviews.

I guess some people get a sick satisfaction from ruining things for others.

Feature request: please let me follow authors, or otherwise notify when me someone I like releases a new book

I've read and are reading a huge amount of books. Many of the series I'm reading are currently in progress. It sucks to have a book release that I've been idly waiting for for ages, only to not realise for a month that it came out. *Please* let us be notified somehow when an author I've read from releases a new book, eg there could be a follow button, or the system just tells me when someone releases a new book if I've read other books in the the series and liked them, or if I've read other books of theirs.

This is literally the only thing Goodreads does better, off the top of my head. Having this feature would be amazing.

Question about the challenge page UI

I am doing the 100 Nonfiction Book challenge. I read a lot in that genre and have been adding all my books.

My issue is that the search bar you use to add books to the challenge is located at the bottom of the list of books you’ve added. This is inconvenient because in my experience, in order for the app to capture the book I’ve added, I need to scroll all the way to the top and pull to refresh. This means that to get back to the search bar I need to scroll all the way back down to the bottom of the list of my added books. I‘ve added 29 books so far and my thumbs are tired and it takes so much time. Is there a better way to do this that I’m just too dense to realize?

Does anyone use the Question Bank?

On the main page for a book (under the book image) I have two buttons, one is "Browse similar books" and the other in "View question bank". Does anyone use the Question bank functionality? I try to enter discussion questions for book clubs I'm in and I rarely see any questions entered by anyone else.

I love this feature and wish it was more widely used as it is helpful when prepping for a book club meeting - I don't have to start from scratch if there are already questions. Is it a Storygraph Plus feature only?

EDIT - just want to clarify: it's a place to store questions for discussion but it doesn't function as a discussion board itself.

General Question Multiple accounts

Is there any way possible to have a separate child’s tracker under the same account?? My toddlers’ library books are starting to show up on my StoryGraph but I don’t want that but I also would like to keep track of their progress. They can’t read yet but they like reading too lol

General Question Is there anyway to submit for a book edition cover to be changed?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I hate the non head on shots of the book when I’m choosing a specific edition to lineup the pages.

General Question Percentage Not Tracking

I started a new book on my Kindle today (an ARC) that only has a LOC and not page numbers… so I am having to track my reading with the percentage. This usually isn’t an issue, but it isn’t tracking it in my streak.

This has never happened before… is anyone else having this issue??

EDIT: I figured it out!! I just added another edition with the page number from a different edition lol woohoo!! Thanks to everyone who helped me out!!

Tech Help So I read an omnibus and all the sessions are already logged in my reading journal. Is there an easy way to split that into the different books it contains?

I read an omnibus that has the first three books from the Thursday Next series, by Jasper Fforde. I used my Kobo's StoryGraph integration to register my reading progress in the Reading Journal. Is there an easy way to split that one "book" into the three books it contains? I know I can do this manually by adding the books and editing the dates in the reading journal, but I want to know if there is an easier and less time-consuming way.

Top tier app

Since I found StoryGraph, it’s honesty been the app that trumps all other book reading apps. The graphs, the focus on books instead of making it like a book twitter, I just love the simplicity while being creative. The features they add are so on par with what a real reader wants like pausing books and now having private books. This is not to disparage other apps because I think they can be fun for a time, but StoryGraph for me is like my book home.

Woohoo! ‘Private books’ are here!

What a cool feature!

I am studying and want to count the books I read for my course… but don’t want them cluttering up my nice “what I read for fun” shelves, nor do I necessarily want to show those to people who follow me (it feels oddly personal in a different way).

So, though it just arrived (thank you, team!), I’m loving this new option to mark some books as ‘invisible’ to others!!

Tracking Bind Ups owned vs read

Post image
11 Upvotes

So I read Murderbot on Kindle Unlimited early this year and loved them, so when Illumicrate had theirs for sale I bought them.

So StoryGraph has the individual ones tracked as read when I read them, and the Illumicrate bindups tracked as owned. This, while not huge, is skewing my percentage of my owned books that are read vs unread.

How would you handle this? Track them instead? Mark them read without a date so they don't skew my book and page count for this year?

I noticed my owned copy of Network Effect that I read the kindle version of counts as owned read (the Illumicrate Network Effect is just the single books, the others are 2 novellas in one book). Is there any way to mark these as editions of the single books so they stat as owned read without marking these specific editions as read?
