Man, until I found out what a hypnic jerk was I used to freak out in my sleep a lot. I remember the most jarring instance. I was out of town at concert with this girl. We stayed in a hotel and I'm laying next to her in the middle of the night, both of us asleep. Next thing I know, I feel like the bed is rocking violently. I got up and started looking under the bed. Couldn't see anything so went back to sleep. Felt it again and this time I woke her up asking if we had one of those old time vibrating beds or something bc it keeps shaking me awake. She thought I was crazy, i knew I was crazy, so I just went to sleep. It was years later that I found out what it was. Had another episode several nights in a row and was just digging to find out why I couldn't stay asleep and why it always felt like I was being thrown around. Anyway, user name prompted nostalgia for a time I was rudely awaken by my subconscious in the middle of a pretty great weekend. Kudos.

I have had this account for many years and you are the first to comment on the name. Most people experience a Hypnic Jerk, majority don’t know they did because the jolt they feel is very minimal and it doesn’t register with them. The transition from being awake to sleeping is when this occurs. My transition used to be very severe, where it felt like I got hit in the head with a baseball bat and I would physically jump out of bed like a maniac lol
Thanks for sharing your experience it’s always interesting to hear from others on the topic.5

See, his current job level is 9, but his actual character level is only 6, about to be 7. There’s a dungeon he can’t enter until he’s level 9, and he’s got a long night ahead of him with a lot of grinding. He’s been focusing on some enemies with unusually high ability point rewards, hence his job level progression. He was trying to make up for switching jobs from alligator to turtle, which got him behind his party’s progression. Now he has to go to a new area to fight enemies that favor EXP rewards so he can get in the dungeon with his party. They are almost definitely going to end up stuck outside waiting on him, because you don’t want to hit the dungeon without your turtle; it would just get your DPS killed.

"The people in this town drive in a very counter intuitive manner." That's what Marty had to say about it.

His story doesn't add up. First he says he wants to get to level 9, then he IS a level 9 turtle.
Did he level up during the conversation?

yup he completed the last chain in his quest by explaining how level 9 is above level 8 hence blowing the interviewers mind and gaining enough exp to hit Lvl9 turtle

I mean yeah, clearly he’s a level 9 turtle. He’s wearing the proper equipment. Though it is very similar to level 4 alligator, there is a slight difference. The color gradient of the glasses are different. But you can tell by the shade of the maroon on his poncho blanket that he’s leveled past level 8 iguana.

Probably not so ironically, this clip inspired an entire song.
