other Community café in Rustenburg/Oostbroek?
Hoi,
Bedankt!

housing Studying in Den Haag/housing
Hey there! I'm a portuguese student, currently 17 years old and next year I'd really like to study in Den Haag; however, I am having some trouble regarding the necessary documents to submit an application, where I can find a job and how many hours I'll have of classes per week. I know that similar to Portugal, The Netherlands is currently facing a housing crisis and I'd like to know where I can find a cheap apartment. Hope y'all can help me and wish me luck :).

other Looking for a small private workspace (10–15 m²) in The Hague. local resident, from Nov 1
Hello, everyone! I'm (35,M) a resident of the Chinatown/Spui/Centrum area. I have a full-time cybersecurity job that I mostly work remotely, plus my own media and IT side projects in the evenings and weekends. I'm looking for a small private workspace, and I'd much rather rent from a local landlord or business owner than go back to a predatory coworking chain (TRIBE, Spaces/Regus are a no-go). Already on the list with AnnASpaces, but I haven't heard back from them after months.
What I need, concretely:
- A small room, around 10 m², definitely not much bigger than 15 unless it's very reasonably priced. Cheap is the goal, in a non-residential place.
- Ideally, something close to the center. I want to keep it in the neighborhood. I love this place, and want to keep my feet connected to the community. Realistically, nothing more than a 10 minute bike ride from Spui station/Library. Might as well get on the list for the SOZA building in that case.
- 24/7 access with my own key. I'm there during the day for 10+ hour shifts at my job, then late nights on my own stuff, so this is non-negotiable.
- Lockable, some semblance of climate control/heat, power + internet. A bathroom somewhere accessible. I'm not picky, but these are firm. I can't do anything without a few outlets and internet, and can't dip from work for 20+ minutes just to find a toilet or fill the tea kettle.
- Strictly a work and craft space: cybersecurity/IT work, hardware tinkering, and a couple of instruments every once in a while. Needs to be safe to leave things overnight.
- No mail, no customers, no shop traffic. I'm registered at home. It's just me, a desk, and my equipment. Family/friends might come by once in a great while (unless expressly forbidden), but this is a space for one person.
- If unfurnished, that's on me, I'll deal with that. Might even prefer that.
- If we get along, I'd like to do this long term. Reliable trickle of money for you. I plan on staying in The Hague indefinitely, and already live here on a permanent lease with family (the place is just too small). Very low flight risk.
If you're a landlord with a small unit, a business owner with an unused back/upstairs room, or you just know a spot such as an empty room above a shop, an old office nobody uses, please comment or DM me with the location and rough size.
Looking for November 1st start, but can wait a little longer. Budget is modest.
To keep out the scammers: I'll only reply to messages that include a specific address or building and a real name. No money moves before I've stood inside the space and signed a contract. Again, I am not interested in a co-working scam.
If this is a fruitless venture/looking for a unicorn, I guess so-be-it.

things to do in The Hague Alternative nightlife in The Hague?
I’d love to get to know more alternative nightclubs and night-venues in The Hague. Does anyone have recommendations? For example, in Utrecht there is de Nar, Ekko, Acu, de helling, but I don’t know any alike places in agga🌚🌞 I’m interested in whatever place where there’s more alternative clubmusic like techno, acid, dnb, or where drinks n nights out are more cheap or anywhere with a more politically engaged/cool atmosphere… lmk!!

other Cat/house-sitter
I’m looking for a thrust worthy, pet loving, clean person who would like to spend time with my cat for a couple of days next week. In return you can stay in my houseboat, where me and my cat live. We live near Zuiderpark. Actually everything goes automatically (self cleaning litter box, automatic food dispenser), so I’m just asking to keep an eye out on things and give him some love.

practical questions Non-EU student with TWV required on my permit: which employers/agencies in Delft, Den Haag or Rijswijk actually hired you?
Hi everyone,
I’m an international student (non-EU) in the Netherlands, and my residence permit says TWV is required. I’m looking for part-time work (max 16 hours/week) in Delft, Den Haag or Rijswijk, or full-time in the summer months.
The problem is that many employers (Uber Eats, Picnic, Randstad and some logistics companies) have turned me down because they won’t apply for the TWV.
If you’re in the same situation, I’d really appreciate your help with:
- Which companies or agencies actually applied for your TWV?
- Did you find the job through an agency (EuFlex, Timing, YoungCapital, Manpower), a university job, or directly?
- Any tips on how to ask the employer about the TWV so they don’t say no right away?
I’m open to warehouse, hospitality, retail, cleaning or office work. Thanks a lot, and good luck to anyone else looking!

other Hotel recommendations
Hello,
my wife and I somehow established a little tradition for us to visit The Hague during Christmas in the last few years after we’ve been encouraged to do so here in this sub. We usually stay at the Mövenpick when we’re in the city, mostly because it’s convenient (good location, underground parking and we are comfortable with the beds). Food isn’t really a strong side of the Hotel, but there’s plenty of options around, so it’s not an issue. We also tried the Hilton, Voco, Indigo and Novotel in some of the trips in the past. Right now I’m checking Hotels for
this years christmas trip, and I’m wondering if we’re missing out on some really nice Hotels when we always stay in the same place. I thought about going to book the Hilton again this year, since the rates aren’t as high as they normally are and last time we found some areas not too far from the Hilton which we really liked and haven’t been to before.
But do you have any other recommendations maybe? Are there any new nice Hotels in the city center? Or one that isn’t right in the center, but otherwise absolutely incredible? Money isn’t that much of an object, but we are not really into Hotels that are build like an old Grand Hotel like the Hotel des Indes.
I would really appreciate any input. Thanks in advance!

things to do in The Hague Kids activities (website to find & filter them)
Hi parents, a few months ago I posted this website I built to help you find and filter kids activities in The Hague by age, area, price, etc. .
The website went a few weeks with no updates (I was in the newborn bubble 🥹) but it now has a refresh with many new activities, including some halloween ones!
If you have any activities you want to add, feel free to add them via the form on the website, and please reach out with any feedback/suggestions for improvement!

other Is Food getting more chemical and worse?
Hello Everyone
I wanted to check if anyone else has noticed this recently, or if I just got a terrible batch.
I sometimes buy the Albert Heijn ready-made banana pancakes here in town. I love them because they usually have a nice, sweet banana taste. But the pack I bought this week tasted completely chemical and artificial—like pure fake flavoring.
Has anyone else noticed AH changing the recipe lately, or did I just get unlucky?
On top of that, I picked up a tin of Nido powder milk from a local toko here in The Hague at the Haagse Markt area. I grew up in the Caribbean where Nido is always a rich, creamy yellow color. The one I got here looks bright white, almost like coffee creamer.
I wanted to see if any other expats or locals in the city have noticed these kinds of ingredient changes or regional differences lately. What's going on?

meeting people New in The Hague
Hey everyone! 👋
I’m a 20-year-old guy who recently moved to The Hague for my studies. I’m still new to the city and don’t really know anyone here yet, so I’d love to meet new people and build a nice circle of friends.
I speak English and French.
I’m down for pretty much anything: grabbing coffee, exploring the city, going out, watching football, going for walks, or just hanging out and having good conversations.

practical questions Help jij mij met mijn afstudeeronderzoek? 🎨
Hoi allemaal!
https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/WdaTGrwBRY
Het zou mij enorm helpen als je de enquête invult of deelt met anderen die binnen de doelgroep vallen.
Alvast heel erg bedankt! 💛

other GP overcrowding in this city is a major issue and making me consider moving
I need to preface this by saying that I have some chronic health issues, and in my seven years living in the Hague I have never had a healthcare service that was up to par. When I arrived in the Netherlands, the lack of huisarts space for new clients was already an issue and it looks like it keeps getting worse. Now GPs are not accepting new clients, but also are not treating those already registered in their practice.
It has happened to me multiple times that I wasn't able to contact the clinic for days due to high volume of calls. The only situation where they are available is if you're actively dying, which is insane considering that you can still be in a great amount of pain and get no care because it's not a life threatening situation. Obviously if I can, I go in person to make an appointment, but I am not always able to go out when I'm in pain.
I am just discouraged because I now have another flare up for my condition which is greatly affecting me, and yet I will have to wait who knows how long to first be able to talk to someone, and second schedule an appointment. I would also be willing to pay for private care, but I don't know which specialist to go to, which is why GPs exist.
This level of unaccessibility has never happened to me in any other country I've lived in or visited, and it makes me wonder if staying here permanently is comfortable or even safe. I don't think we should have to endure pain for no reason, especially when paying hundreds of euros every month for insurance and getting subpar treatment.
Do others have the same experience or am I just unlucky? I had multiple instances of the GP being too full to cater to patients, and I also don't want to abuse the system by lying about my condition being life threatening, which apparently is the only time where Dutch healthcare is excellent. Is the city or overheid doing anything to fix the capacity issues?

other A poem in dutch, my first attempt. May I have some feedback please? [OC]
Ik aanschouw de rug van de tijd
In het huis waarin ik woon
zijn de hoeken rond
een huis van hout
ijzeren kisten overal
in het huis een kelder
trappen die naar beneden gaan
daar, in die kelder
staan twee stieren vastgebonden
geketend staan ze daar
met rood gekleurde hoorns
wanneer ik afdaal
langs de trappen van de kelder
kijken ze me aan met opgezwollen neusgaten
en zeggen:
de uitdrukkingen
de gevoelens
van de meest subtiele kamers
van jouw geest
zullen we net zo vastgeketend houden
totdat jij ons bevrijdt

things to do in The Hague Looking for players and a keeper
Are you 35+, still enjoy a good game of football, and fancy joining an international team for some competitive Sunday football? 🌍⚽
We’re looking for a few extra players to strengthen our squad for this Sunday’s competition.
What we’re looking for:
- 🧤 A reliable goalkeeper — our biggest priority! At the moment, we’re playing without a dedicated keeper, which means one of our outfield players has to sacrifice their position. Needless to say, that’s not exactly a winning strategy! 😂
- ⚽ A couple of experienced outfield players who can help us create chances, score goals, and compete at a decent level.
- 🤝 Players aged 35 and above who enjoy teamwork, fair play, and a good atmosphere.
We have a friendly, international mix of players. The competition is quite strong, so we’re looking for people who can help us raise our game and make a difference on the pitch.
Interested? Drop me a message with your position, age, and a little about your football experience.
Feel free to share this with anyone who might be interested. We could really use a good keeper — preferably one who doesn't mind saving the day! 😄🧤
See you on Sunday! ⚽
