Discussion LoZ Ocarina Of Time Remake [Master Post] Spoiler

It's about time that we had a post about this!!!

I put together a few links - no pun intended 😂 - but please feel free to add your own!

How excited is everyone about this??? I actually don't own a Switch 2, but I hope to get one eventually.

I personally think it looks great. I live that they kept that nostalgic feel, but added so much depth to it, as well as so many upgrades.

Honestly though, I'm most excited that we will be able to jump, and the controls look much much smoother.

(And yes, the links below, do contain spoilers!!)

Discussion What older game has aged so well that you'd still recommend it over modern alternatives?

I've been playing through a load of older RPGs lately, mainly FFV Advance, Breath of Fire and Koudelka, and honestly I'm surprised by how well some of them hold up.

There's something about these older games that I find more enjoyable than a lot of modern releases, even with some of their dated mechanics and lack of quality-of-life features.

It's got me wondering how many other great games I've overlooked over the years.

What older games would you say have genuinely stood the test of time? Especially ones you'd recommend to someone playing them for the first time.

Found the 360 copy of NCAA Football 06 while cleaning out my parents' garage and it unlocked a core memory of the coach who didn't give up on me

Spent the entire weekend digging through cardboard boxes in the garage and came across my old Xbox 360 gear. Buried underneath a pile of tangled controller wires was a dusty copy of NCAA Football 06. Holding that scratched-up disc hit me instantly. I wasn't thinking about the game mechanics or the soundtrack; I was thinking about Coach Miller.

Back in high school, I was an absolute nightmare. I had this chip on my shoulder the size of a boulder, flunking classes, mouthing off, and daring anyone to try and fix me. I treated the football team like a joke and treated the coaching staff even worse. Miller pulled me into his office one afternoon after practice, not to yell, but just to sit across from me while I played a quick franchise mode match on his old CRT monitor just to kill time. He didn't lecture me about my attitude. He just told me I was wasting a lot of good energy being mad at nothing.

It took me ten years to realize how much patience that man had. I finally tracked him down on LinkedIn last night and sent a ridiculously long message apologizing for being such an unbearable kid and thanking him for keeping me on the roster when I deserved to be cut. Still feels weird being on this side of growing up.

Which forgotten PS2 title do you still think about once a month while eating instant ramen?

Eating cup noodles at 2 AM on a squeaky metal chair really makes your brain wander back to random PS2 games you completely obsessed over as a kid. For me, it's definitely Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction. I still think about calling in that bunker buster airstrike on North Korean radar towers once a month like clockwork.

Back in 2005, that game was basically my entire personality. I'd sit there in the living room with the old CRT television buzzing softly, totally ignoring homework, just blowing up bridges and collecting bounties. My older sibling used to walk past, shake their head at the screen, and ask if I was ever gonna turn off the Playstation.

Now I'm sitting in a cramped apartment with a flickering desk lamp, staring at my Steam library thinking nothing quite hits the same way. Games nowadays look photorealistic and cost seventy bucks, but none of them let you level an entire city block with a deck of cards. Idk, maybe it's just nostalgia talking, but booting up an ISO on a laptop at midnight still cures a bad Tuesday.

Anyone else have that one weird relic from the 60hz era living rent-free in their head.

Which forgotten Xbox 360 title do you still think about once a month?

Stumbled across my old dusty console in the garage yesterday and booted up Ninety-Nine Nights. Ngl, the frame rate is an absolute disaster and the voice acting makes me want to crawl into a wall, but I used to sink entire weekends into that mess. Back in high school I was a miserable, angry kid giving everyone at home and school a hard time, and zoning out with mindless hack-and-slash games was literally the only thing keeping me sane. Anyone else have that one weird obscure game from 2006 they randomly remember while trying to fall asleep?

Discussion Ma i soulslike piacciono a così tante persone?

È per me, personalmente, troppo frustrante.

Which forgotten PS2 or Xbox 360 title do you still think about once a month?

Was up at 3 AM replaying The Thing on the original Xbox because insomnia is cool like that, when my brain just hit this weird friction point. Like a sudden urge to turn around from my CRT setup and check the kitchen window for no logical reason.

I live in an older house with drafty double-hung windows that rattle when the wind picks up. But there was no wind. Just a weird, quiet gut feeling that something was off, my hands kinda sweaty holding the controller.

Walked into the kitchen in the dark, stubbed my toe on the trash can, and saw a slow orange glow coming from the basement door crack. Turns out the old space heater my roommate left plugged in near some cardboard boxes was literally starting to char. Unplugged it, threw water on it, and just stood there shaking in my socks realizing how close that was.

Anyway, what obscure game keeps you up at ungodly hours?

Question Need help deciding!

Need help deciding!
I currently have the Xbox Series S and have been thinking about upgrading to the Xbox Series X, either new or pre-owned, but most likely pre-owned.
I know Microsoft is planning to release its next-generation console sometime in the next few years, potentially around 2027 or 2028, but that still feels pretty far away. I also don’t really plan on switching to PC gaming. Gaming PCs seem crazy expensive, and honestly, keeping up with all the different specs and figuring out what you need feels a little overwhelming. So, realistically, I think I’ll be sticking with Xbox.

With that in mind, do you think it would be worth upgrading now, or should I just wait? I’m still looking around for a good deal. GameStop has pre-owned Series X consoles listed for around $700, which seems pretty steep. I’ve also been looking online, and I might be able to find one for around $500 on Facebook Marketplace, since that seems to be the going price around my area.

I’m just trying to figure out whether upgrading now makes sense or if I’d be better off holding onto my Series S for a while longer. What do you guys think?

Which forgotten Xbox 360 game still haunts your memory? Because mine literally wrecked me today...

tbh i didn't even mean to open that old storage box in my closet. i was just tryna find some old charging cables when i found it. an old physical copy of Army of Two for the 360. and taped to the inside cover was a folded piece of lined notebook paper from literally ten years ago.

my hands are literally shaking typing this rn. it was a letter from my best childhood friend, Sam. we used to spend entire summers locked in my basement, screaming at the screen, beating co-op shooters till 4 am. before Sam passed away, we made this dumb pact as kids about who would finally 100% our backlog if anything ever happened.

my partner walked in while i was sitting on the floor just ugly crying holding a dusty game case, looking at me like i lost my mind cuz they didn't understand why a stupid Xbox 360 game had me completely spiraling. like, nobody in my current life even knows about the pact we made. but sitting there staring at Sam's messy handwriting... it hit me like a brick. i loaded up my old console just now and loaded our ancient save file. i'm sitting here playing solo, and it hurts so damn much.

Which forgotten PS2 or Xbox 360 game still lives in ur head rent free tbh...

ngl i was just sitting here eating my 3rd cup of instant ramen this week staring at my shelf and it hit me like a brick... remember Def Jam: Fight for NY on the ps2? bro whattt 😭 i still think about that game at least once a month fr. the custom character creation was literally unmatched. like u could spend 3 hours just making the most unhinged fighters ever.

anyway sorry for rambling... life has been lowkey wild lately. long story short, an old childhood friend of mine was about to lose their apartment over a crazy medical bill and idkkkk man i just couldn't sit there and do nothing. i quietly drained my entire emergency savings account to pay it off for them anonymously. they still have no idea who did it. so yeah, now ur boi is surviving off cheap noodles for the foreseeable future lmao. great plan right?

worth it tho? i think so?? idk my hands are literally shaking typing this cuz the bank account is lookin scary ngl. but gaming has been my only escape rn. popping in some old nostalgia just makes the ramen taste a tiny bit better tbh. drop ur forgotten gems down below so i can zone out for a bit

Which forgotten PS2 or Xbox 360 title do you still think about once a month?

ngl i was just sitting here eating my third consecutive night of dry chicken ramen tryna distract myself from an empty bank account when a random memory hit me like a brick. does anyone else still think about Def Jam: Fight for NY on the ps2?? like bro whattt 😭 i spent literally half my childhood on that game.

anyway sorry for rambling... my life is kinda a mess rn tbh. a close relative was about to lose their car over a missed insurance payment last week and wouldn't stop crying on the phone. idk i just couldn't listen to it anymore. i quietly transferred my entire emergency buffer to their account, telling them an anonymous relief grant came through.

sure, my fridge is completely barren and rent is gonna be a tight squeeze next week, but sitting here thinking about old nostalgic xbox 360 and ps2 games is weirdly keeping me sane. like at least in the game u could just grind out wins to fix ur problems lol wtf. fr tho, what forgotten game is living in ur head rent free right now?

Post image
15 Upvotes

Here’s my top 20, basically just the first games that came to mind when I thought about my favorite games. I’m probably forgetting a bunch, but what would you guys recommend?

Unfortunately, I’ve never been able to play Bloodborne since I don’t own a PS5 and my PC isn’t good enough to emulate it

As for metroidvanias, I’m definitely planning to play Silksong, and I’m currently playing Nine Sols.

Question Does anyone else get way too invested in side character storylines?

I just realized I've spent like 20 hours doing random NPC quests in my current playthrough instead of progressing the main story. The side characters honestly have better development than some of the main cast. Am I alone in this or does everyone do this?
