Serious PSA: "Security guard at Russian oil refinery" ads targeting Thai men look like Russian military recruitment

A Thai-language Facebook ad is offering Thai men security jobs at refineries and warehouses in Russia: $2,500–5,000 a month, a $60,000 signing bonus, free flights, and life insurance.

Red flags:

- No guard job pays a $60k bonus. That's roughly what the Russian army pays to sign up.

- The "Chat on WhatsApp" button goes to a Russian number (+7 964 677-16-45) whose profile picture is the Russian Ministry of Defence emblem.

- The page ("Managers HR") was created a month ago, and the ads started 8 October.

- Russia has used fake "security guard" jobs to lure Indians, Sri Lankans and Filipinos into its army. Separate ads openly recruiting Thais into the Russian army were reported last month.

I can't prove where respondents end up, but don't send documents and don't get on a plane. Report the ad, and warn any Thai guys you know who are looking for work abroad. Fake overseas recruiters can be reported to the 1694 hotline.

TL;DR: WARN any Thai men you know to avoid recruiters from Russia for any form of employment. If they go to Russia, they will likely be forced to sign a Russian military service contract and ultimately sent to die in the Donbas as cannon fodder. As the saying goes: "If it sounds too good to be true it probably is."

Lmao, it said "Stable, Safe, Good income. Perfect for Thai male that wanted to build a future"

If you don't die first, I guess?

u/getoutlonnie 1d ago

Worse yet, their families will not see much of the money, if any at all, judging by what was happening in Africa with the same scheme. It is a really, really terrible exploitation scheme.

14

u/After_Locksmith_9795 1d ago

They dint even give it to Russians haha, usually mother gets a nice rug.

73

u/spicydak 1d ago

Yikes. That’s pretty disgusting because I know a few Thai friends that found their current jobs on FB..

65

u/Nyanzerfaust 1d ago

This happened in Cuba. This is happening in lots of african countries. And now Thailand?. It's a well known war trafficking ring. You sign up for security and construction teams and end up on the frontlines digging trenches and being used as drone bait. (and your salary stolen by your comrades).

u/Imsongoku7 1d ago edited 1d ago

Please don’t go they will recruit you in their miltary and send you to war front

I have seen Instagram post where this happened with people from different countries , first job offer then they took their passports and then they sent to war, no one survived even their bodies couldn’t sent back to home

23

u/KapiHeartlilly 1d ago

Yes they are doing this all across SEA, don't fall for it.

15

u/CuriousCamels 1d ago

All across Africa too. They’re starting to get desperate for cannon fodder.

13

u/Lopsided_Quarter_931 7-Eleven 1d ago

Even USA. Some crazy ones have already moved to Russia

17

u/icecreamshop 1d ago

it's an ad of the russian grounded forces, look at the coat of arms.. they will send them to die in the urkaine straight away

-1

u/PollutionFinancial71 1d ago

It’s obviously a scammer posing as the Russian armed forces. Red flags all over the place.

Because there are a ton of employment scams which are aimed at stealing private data.

Also, If the Russians were really hiring foreigners to work in mobile air defense units (or even the front line for that matter) there are countries where the labor is cheaper and more qualified for this type of work.

Heck, there are millions of former child soldiers in Africa who will work for less than an average Thai, while being more effective.

And Meta (Facebook) is making money from it

Of course, Zuckerberg has to have a hand in all the frauds. Facebook is shite

Putin you good bro?

5

u/Treewithatea 1d ago

Does he look good? Bro exposed his country to be demoted from military superpower to laughing stock.

29

u/thestudiomaster 1d ago

I would not go to Russia for whatever reasons now, tourism, study, medical treatment, whatever... I don't want to be given a rifle and sent to the battleground.

10

u/Professional_Bug_948 1d ago

Given a rifle? Drone baits don't get firearms

Stop using that shitty plugin/tool. Just edit to say [deleted].

It replaces your post with normal looking content, so everyone who comes across it needs to take a few seconds to figure out what it is, each time. So rude and annoying.

People will put you on their ignore list for that. I almost did, although I like your comments in general.

AI Graphic Design already a huge red flag

6

u/Wide_Open_Buttcheeks 1d ago

Omg, I saw this ad! Lmao. Didn't understand a single fucking shit since I ain't Thai but I hated the AI images so I reported it

u/Marksamui 1d ago

Some Russian scum bug decide to open referral channel for troop acquisition in Thailand. There is around 10k $ sign bonus for referrals

13

u/Mother_Lead_554 1d ago

To the meat grinder

23

u/Anonymous_Autumn_ 1d ago

Holy shit balls. I guess their regime is doing this because Russians in those regions have quit their jobs. Please do not take these jobs! The reason they can’t get workers there is because no one wants to die by drone.

27

u/NakumaWolf 1d ago

Most of the time they trick people into signing a contract with the Russian army and send them to the front lines there is no security job most of the time

12

u/Nervouswriteraccount 1d ago

They are losing badly. You don't want to lose with them.

-15

u/Lordfelcherredux 1d ago

Losing badly? Where can I buy some of that copium?

5

u/Treewithatea 1d ago

Remember this was supposed to be a 3 day operation, the amount of land Russia has taken the past 12 months is almost none and hes sacrificied a crap ton of people for it.

4

u/Nervouswriteraccount 1d ago

They're getting beaten by a bunch of drones, lol.

5

u/JimmyTheG 1d ago

It's likely a bait and switch. The recruits think they got a well paid job inside russia but will be shipped to the front in ukraine to be used as drone bait. Plenty of cubans and africans died this way already

2

u/PollutionFinancial71 1d ago

This is obviously a scam targeting job seekers.

2

u/Glaive13 1d ago

And why do you think theyre paying the same hiring bonus as the Russian army pays, for guard work?

1

u/One-Cherry-3112 1d ago

And i heard their sai oua tastes like crap over there.

3

u/LeadershipExternal58 1d ago

Report to Police! Government has to do something about this

2

u/Effect-Kitchen Bangkok 1d ago

Thai government? We all know they won’t do shit.

1

u/LeadershipExternal58 1d ago

😞 same as Indian Government they also didn’t do anything when their people got sent to death

2

u/rndplace 1d ago

How did you obtain the ad id? I wonder if there is a way to replicate it

9

u/thatjournalist 1d ago edited 1d ago

Originally the ad was displayed to me while doom scrolling Facebook Reels. I then used Opus 5.5 to obtain it from the Facebook Ad Library. Here's a summary:

  1. Go to facebook.com/ads/library (no login needed), set the country to Thailand and the category to "All ads".
  2. Search for an exact phrase from the ad. "2,160,000" (the bonus in baht) brought it up among ~36 results, under the page "Managers HR".
  3. Click "See summary details" or "See ad details" to get the Library ID. Clicking through to the advertiser shows all of its ads.
  4. For the page's creation date, open the Facebook page itself → About → Page transparency.

Easier route if you see the ad in your feed: tap the page name → About → Page transparency → "See all" next to "This Page is currently running ads". That takes you straight to its Ad Library listing.

Exact-phrase search is hit or miss for ads that are mostly image, so try a few different numbers or phrases from the ad.

Russia military really that desperate for manpower, huh?

All the illusion of "2nd most powerful military in the world" gone overnight.

I mean they haven't gained any ground in 4 years... and now are being attacked on their soil...

-2

u/After_Locksmith_9795 1d ago

Bro, saying Russia isn't gaining ground is just ignoring the map. They’ve been systematically grinding through massive fortress cities like Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Vuhledar. This isn’t a blitzkrieg, it’s a long-game war of attrition to bleed Ukraine’s manpower and economy dry.

They don’t need to conquer everything tomorrow. The real endgame is to choke them out by eventually pushing down to take Odessa and cutting off the Black Sea. Once Ukraine is completely landlocked, it’s game over. On top of that, Russia is testing NATO's resolve. Western funding is drying up, inventories are running low, and Russia knows it can outlast Western political will.

Yeah, those Ukrainian attacks inside Russian territory look wild on the news, but they're just a high-stakes distraction. They haven't stopped the main Russian advance or forced Putin to pull his main forces off the front line

1

u/Parking-Egg-547 1d ago

Are you a american?

0

u/After_Locksmith_9795 1d ago

Nope, but why does that matter?

3

u/MasLegio 1d ago

Russian?

1

u/Parking-Egg-547 1d ago

Nope, they are not intelligent enought to write in basic alphabets. They use stick writing like this Я глупый русский.

0

u/After_Locksmith_9795 1d ago

Nope, why does it matter? 😆

1

u/Jshow2018 1d ago

Mexican?

0

u/After_Locksmith_9795 1d ago

Nope but probably better than a hoser.

1

u/Treewithatea 1d ago

Some major copium going on here. Is Ukraine killing major infrastructure in Russia also part of Putins great plan? Infrastructure that will take years to rebuild?

0

u/After_Locksmith_9795 1d ago

Copium on who's behalf? I couldn't givea shit lol just stating facts.

2

u/Treewithatea 1d ago

Then gladly send me a few sources that they are somehow keeping all their good soldiers away while only using 'criminals, foreigners, etc...' on the frontlines.

2

u/PollutionFinancial71 1d ago

Looks like a scam. The people behind this are about as Russian as a cheeseburger.

5

u/thatjournalist 1d ago edited 1d ago

Could certainly be an employment scam designed for identity theft, spear phishing, or something else related to it. Either way, best to steer clear.

3

u/Select_Order_1478 1d ago

no, Russian MOD does indeed lure foreigners into contracted military service, has been doing that for a couple of years now

advertised pay is too good actually, it's 2500usd monthly and a sign up bonus is between 18k and 40k usd depending on the region that's doing the recruiting

it's public information

2

u/KrungThepMahaNK 1d ago

They should have just wrote 'cannon-fodder required'..

1

u/r-thai555 1d ago

Or likes their 'meat being grind'

2

u/Accomplished-Dog2481 1d ago

That's just ai generated wtf. You can make it in a minute if you Google prompt

6

u/thatjournalist 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yes it is, likely generated using something like Gemini. Russian (official or otherwise) military recruiters get paid a hefty sum per body they can recruit (AKA traffic) for the meat grinder.

4

u/hextree 1d ago

If you want to make an ad look legit in Thailand, stands to reason you make it look AI-generated as fuck.

1

u/RobertPaulsen1992 Chanthaburi 1d ago

It has gotten so bad in such a short time...

1

u/mrx3k 1d ago

More likely a scam.

1

u/MasLegio 1d ago

Is this information available in Thai so I can share it to people who don’t understand English well?

3

u/thatjournalist 1d ago

It's simply a bot or fake account for whoever is posting these ads lmao: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61574138861541&mibextid=ZbWKwL

1

u/ahrienby 1d ago

You need to inform the media about the ad. Media is very strong.

0

u/nian2326076 9h ago

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. That $60,000 signing bonus and Russian Ministry of Defence emblem in the WhatsApp profile are red flags. Report any sketchy ads like these, and warn others not to fall for them. Always verify job offers with trusted sources before going further. For job searching, LandOffer.ai lets you search openings by role and location. Stay cautious and informed.

1

u/zetarn 3h ago

They only paid you if you could completed their services, and that's like 1% chance even among the Russian.
