Best outcome is Rangers win, Astros lose. Funniest outcome is both teams lose and the Astros advance to the post season with a losing record. Either way, Astros need to lose.

I need three things to happen today. Rangers win, Astros loss and Angels win. Something about the Angels being the only team to not lose 100 games in a season just seems so innocent that I need it to continue for another season.
7
u/YouLostByReadingThis Shin-Soo Choo 17d ago
Honestly my least favorite scenario is both teams win, because then we really missed the postseason by 1 freaking game. If both lose at least I can laugh about an under .500 team making the playoffs and if we lose they win we lost out by 2 games which is easier to stomach imo. Let's just play and see what happens lol.
6
u/coolton1 J. Hamilton 17d ago
Why do you decide to change what you’ve been doing the whole season? Normally, you want your starter to go 5 or 6 and then bullpen after that. Why do you do something completely different that is out of a lot of these players comfort zones when your season is on the line?

With how the Astros have taken care of business against the A’s I’m reminded of our last road trip there. We went 2-5 on a trip to Oakland and Anaheim when they needed to at minimum go 4-3 and ideally 5-2. That road trip is what killed this season. Yes they could’ve played better against the Mets and Twins but you don’t even have to worry about that if you beat teams who on paper you are better than.
→ More replies (1)6
u/sud0w00d0 Young 17d ago
Eh, you could point to any number of dozens of other things that potentially killed the season. With it coming down this close, we really only needed a game or two to end up differently (not losing the season series and tiebreaker to Houston for example). But yeah that road trip sucked and was very unhelpful and frustrating

2026 was meant to be a rebuild year, and now fast forward to the end of the season, this team was rebuilt so badly, it looked like a tower that was built so poorly, it collapsed mid-construction.
if i was Rangers upper management, i'm blowing it up again, and this time, full on blow it up, fire the manager and the other coaches and start trading older players off or let them out of their contract and built the team up from scratch with new younger and better players and a new manager and coaching staff.
this team sucks so bad, the fans needs to start chanting "Sell The Team" at upper management, give the Rangers owner the same treatment as the owners of the Mavericks and Jerry Jones.

The only frustration I’ll have with this year is if we miss the playoffs which is the most likely outcome is that we were so close even with Seager and Jung missing so much time we might miss it by 1 game and any of these blown games throughout the year could’ve tipped the scale

God, this game feels like an Amazing Race episode where the last two teams got their final clue of the leg and are rushing to a cab, getting out in a hurry and running down a mile long path to the Pit Stop. The editing would make you think it's close, but in the end, the team that you dislike ends up arriving ahead of the other team in plenty of time as Phil tells them the good news.
